I know exactly how you feel. The only rooms that aren't messy at my place are the bathrooms & the babys room lol! I work full time & when i get home I'm like why bother?.. Hopefully i get a day or two cleaning spurt & get it done!
Was watching one of those sort of horridly-fascinating shows last night on TV that is about hoarders, except this one is about pet hoarders. They visited a couple's house who had 24 cats. The vet who was talking to the couple and she went into the room where the catboxes were, and commented on the smell, and she had handheld meter that she set down on the floor. It measured ammonia in the air.
So.... my husband's parents are hoarders and I've never been to their house but our daughter has. She's 3 years old. We have a little boy on the way and I just don't know if I want my kids going over there especially if I'm not allowed to.. Idk how bad the situation is and I know my husband is embarrassed. I've never talked to my in laws about it. They make me uncomfortable as is. I have been distant from them for the last couple months.

I moved into his house after helping my mother out for a couple of years. His house looked like something out of a hoarders episode. The filth and clutter was so overwhelming that the first day I spent cleaning I ended up with Bronchitis and Pharyngitis from the damp and mold since he did not properly heat the house. After 2 months we finally made it inhabitible, but not clean by any means.
To this day the majority of my belongings reside in my mother's house.

But seriously, I would have to say that the answer to your question depends on whether or not there is any evidence of mood cycling before this.
Your family member might want to read up about cyclothymia and hypomania which are milder forms of mood cycling. If you have access to a library I like the book "Why Am I Still Depressed?
But me I would just go to a family members and stay there for a bit. Hoarders have a weird attachment to their items.

That does sound like a good description of manic. But there are many varities of mania. And it all depends how it affects your life. But only a psychiatrist can provide a diagnosis. But seeing one could only be of help.
This sounds nothing like first episode herpes infection, no. Something smaller than a freckle? No. Of course, I can't be certain you don't have herpes, but your description doesn't suggest herpes at all to me. Also, herpes symptoms, if you're going to have symptoms with first episode infection, happen within 2-10 days, most often.
But let me ask you this - were you both tested for sexually transmitted infections prior to beginning to have unprotected sex?

My son has been experiencing some weird breathing issues that are episodic in nature. Since about 3 months old he would have one episode every couple of months or so where he would suddenly have trouble breathing, his chest will restrict in so tightly that you can clearly see his ribs. He will also let out a loud high pitched wheezy inhale and he becomes quite distraught and panicked during these episodes.
