398059 tn?1447945633 How do you all get good sleep regularly. I can only seem to get a good night sleep once a weerk or every two weeks. In as much as the etreme pain is dealt with by medication, I still seem to always be uncomfortable. I assume, based on my readings of this forum, that many of you must have to deal with sleep problems. Any advice?
Avatar f tn There are many good habits that you can practice to avoid insomnia. One way to promote healthy sleep is to set a consistent bedtime and wake up time every day. This trains your body to prepare for sleep at a certain time and allows you to fall asleep more naturally. Stay away from tobacco, alcohol, and even caffeine. Caffeine is a stimulant, so you're doing the exact opposite as calming your nerves when you use it.
Avatar n tn With IDDM, his nighttime routine includes a snack and insulin injection approximately 1-2 hours before bedtime. My wife and I wonder whether this has a big effect on his lack of sleepiness. Generally, the snack is low in refined carbs, but has appropriate complex carbs (crackers, popcorn, pretzels, breadsticks, etc.) and always includes (cold) milk. In general, is a high blood glucose level going to mean a more alertness and less sleepiness?

Avatar n tn I fell asleep in all 4 of my naps and entered REM in 30 secs. on one of them. My average fall asleep time or sleep latency was 3.6 mins and average time to enter REM was 5.4 mins. This was my first time having MSLT, but my other 3 overnight sleep test pretty consistent. I get more REM than I need though, but no Stage 3 or 4. My 2nd sleep test was performed taking 4.5 ml of Xyrem at bedtime and again at around 2:00 am and I still got less than 5 minutes of Stage 3 or 4 sleep.

Avatar f tn My Dr told me your body wakes itself up to tell you "hey you need to adjust!!" He said your body will automatically wake itself up long before any harm is done to your baby. Just readjust and go back to sleep. You can try propping a pillow behind your back so that you don't roll on your back. I'm 29 weeks today also And wake up all the time on my back.
Avatar f tn Hello I have written before about my son's bedtime. We have a strict routine every night. He was doing well sleeping w/o me in the room for a few nights, but now he will do anything to postpone bedtime. We start at 7pm, and I read 3 books, tell 2 stories, sing 2 songs to him then lights out.
Avatar n tn Melatonin has not worked.....how much is safe to take? When will I feel a little better? Any other ideas to promote sleep and when does the sleep cycle return to normal? Really just going crazy with this, sitting here wrapped up in a duvet to ward off chills. What's going on with the legs and feet....at once burning up and then freezing. Just could really use/need some words of support/help.
