You can usually find a store brand of robitussin that has only Guaifenesin in it. The ingredient is made to break up mucus, but if taken while you ovulate it can make your CM more compatible with sperm.
Robitussin is a brand name of a product that is based on guaifenesin, an expectorant. There are other guaifenesin based cough syrups also . It is used while TTC to thin the CM to make it more sperm-friendly. 1-2 tsp. twice daily about six days before suspected ovulation day until the thermal shift. Make sure the product only contains guaifenesin without added decongestants or antihistamines, which could dry your CM.

I've had asthma since I was little, and as far as I've gathered, expectorant is for non-asthmatic cough sufferers while mucolytics are for asthmatics. Is this true? What's confusing me though is why "guaifenesin", a component in one asthma pill I used to take, is used as an "expectorant", and the only OTC drug available for the purpose of easing the removal of phlegm here in the U.S.
I do know you only need the plain kind, nothing else should be in it just guaifenesin. If you get the one with that is mixed it can have the opposite reaction. Also you need to drink plenty of water!! YOu have to do this in order for it to work. I just started taking clomid and i read to start the guaifenesin on day 10 till ovulation. On a website for fertility i read that you need to take 200mg three times a day!

Hi i can confirm that the cough syrup is robitussin chesty cough medicine that contains (guaifenesin) only.Its in a red and black box.I have never noticed my cervical mucus ever before and this was my first month on clomid.I took robitussin every morning and evening (5ml dose).You only take it after AF has ended and stop when you ovulate.I drank a glass of grapefruit juice every morning as its supposed to help CM too.

Guaifenesin, how much is an Overdose? My daughter 11 years old 100 lbs (big for her age), took (the correct dose) 5mL cough and cold medicine that had the following in that dose. Guaifenesin, USP 100 mg, Dextromethorpan HBr, USP 10 mL. Phenylephedrine HCI, USB 5mg. But then she also took (the correct dose) 10 mg of a prescription medicine Guaifenesin-Codeine syrup (generic for Robitussin AC syrup). It doesn't state on the label the quantity of Guaifenesin mg in the 5mL dose.
Basically in a nut shell salicylate acid blocks guaifenesin st the renal tubule level, so while it can still decongest, the use we use it for is rendered ineffective. The same receptors that guaifenesin needs to go in at the tubules is the same that salicylate acid parks in. This happens when you apply them directly to your skin because it is directly absorbed into your blood stream like any other topical medication, hence you need far less potency since your liver is not metabolizing it.
The alternative is guaifenesin, which you can buy over-the-counter. Mucinex contains guaifenesin, but I would get the plain guaifenesin. It works very well.
iv been doing alot of looking on the internet about this sort of thing. there is a cough syrup called Robitussin (guaifenesin cough syrup) i know it sounds stupid because it is cough syrup, but as it has guaifenesin in it, it clears not only the mucas on your chest but also makes your cervical mucas thinner and runnier so the seman can swim through better. look it up on google. but make sure you get the one with guaifenesin in it as the other ones can dry up the cervical mucas .
Just read somewhere about Guaifenesin helping in getting you pregnant by thinning your cervical fluid, which enables sperm to travel through your cervix and fertilize an egg.

Guaifenesin to be specific?
It requires you to take upto, but not limited to 2400mg of guaifenesin (Mucinex) daily. He says that with this protocol, you will notice that your symptoms will at first become worse, but will gradually disappear. He swears this is the way to reverse fibro. Now, when I heard this, I was obviously a little skepticle (who wouldn't be when you are told that Mucinex is the cure for fibro!) So I wanted to know if anyone here has heard of or tried this approach.
i also have been clearing my throat (which feels a little awkward, NOT SORE) quite often. ON TOP of all that, i was told by my wife that while i was sleeping on the first night, my body temp was high, but i wasn't sweating.
can anybody help on what may be going on and how to deal with it?
The only thing when I have a cold that works is the Alka-Seltzer Plus. I have researched, you can take it while pregnant BUT with research do not over three days. I was just recently sick, nothing was working. I took that, and by the third day I was better. There is one thing in there that we really shouldn't have(I can't remember right now what it is) but I took it when I was pregnant with my first, before I knew I was pregnant. There was no complications due to taking it.
