Avatar f tn Similarly, sarcoidosis of the thyroid gland may develop in response to an established thyroid disorder including Gravesdisease, nodular goiter, and thyroid cancer. Patients with Gravesdisease may also have concomitant conditions of sarcoidosis affecting the lungs. Patients with systemic sarcoidosis may also develop sarcoid lesions in various organs including the thyroid gland.
1233210 tn?1267684288 The most widely used classification of uveitis is the one devised by the International Uveitis Study Group (IUSG) in 1987, based on the anatomical location of the inflammation. This classification includes anterior uveitis (iritis, iridocyclitis, and anterior cyclitis), intermediate uveitis (para planitis, posterior cyclitis, and hyalitis), and posterior uveitis (focal, multifocal, or diffuse choroiditis, chorioretinitis, retinitis, and neuroretinitis).
Avatar f tn If you have floaters because of inflammation in the back of the eye (posterior uveitis) then that work up is appropriate. Many of those are not diseases but tests. Ask your MD if you have uveitis. If so you need a work up.
Avatar m tn I was wonder if you think I should go back to my doctor and request a cat scan, too take a closer look at the orbital muscles to check for things like graves disease, or would the MRI have actually picked up on this. Some times I notice too that my right eye slightly bulges and feels a bit heavier than the left eye. My MRI was of the brain and sinuses. It said in the results that the optic nerve appeared bilaterally and that there was no abnormality of the extra-ocular muscles.
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome, Uveitis does have an association with MS but one of the problems with the retrospective research has been the difficulty in finding conclusive evidence... "A total of 35 cohort studies address the prevalence of uveitis among MS patients and of MS among uveitis patients. The studies are difficult to compare due to differences in study design.
Avatar m tn I have always seen it associated with treatment itself and not the disease. I had this disease for about 25 years but did not develop the thyroid disorder until about week 24 of treatment and never had any problem with it before. Either way I am stuck with it now.
Avatar n tn Like heart disease, uveitis ranges from a single episode that is easily controled and never comes back to relentless progression to blindness. And everything in between. The treatment of uveitis has improved dramatically in the last 2 decades. All the patient's with uveitis that I've managed have done well with IOL surgery. Anyone having cataract surgery should not expect perfect vision because other parts of the eye are usually affected by disease or age.
Avatar n tn I did research on websites, and saw that uveitis is an auto immune disease and saw a rheumatologist who prescribed Methotrexate. Uveitis went into remission immediately, and I haven't had a recurrence in 2 years! Unfortunately I developed a cataract in that left eye, which is inoperable and ended all vision in that eye. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn I have now had 5 bouts of acute uveitis since the end of April, a little over a month. Despite a course of oral prednisone, steroid drops X 3 per day and 1500mg of antivirals, I still got another attack last night. Ironically, yesterday I had a followup with the doc and he lowered the drops and pills to twice a day because the eye looked perfect. Why does this keep happening?
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with uveitis in the Summer of 2006. I was checked for Lyme Disease, Syphillis, cat scratch disease and an array of other infectious diseases, all which came out negative. I was given steroid drops to control the uveitis and it subsided almost completely by Spring 2007. Starting in February 2008 I began to notice a constant pressure in my bladder and a feeling of incomplete voiding.
Avatar n tn Graves is an autoimmune disease and unfortunately for life. Controlling whether they raise or suppress is key to beating the symptoms of the disease. If you are on Levo now - your labs must be abnormal and now lean towards hypoT levels. You would feel like cr@p right now with the swinging patterns you have been on. "Once Graves.... always Graves" is the saying here. But I am positive your endo or ???
Avatar f tn You asked for responces from people diagnosed with uveitis. I certainly have a lot of patients with uveitis including a 24 year old with bilateral acute iritis that came in last week. There may be more we don't know about uveitis than we do know. Many schools of medicine have an ophthalmologist that specializes in unveitis. A rheumatologist is also helpful. You live in New Jersy there are a lot of good ophthalmology departments in that area.
634733 tn?1316625992 Some individuals will have genetic predisposition to uveitis which is related to autoimmune disease processes..... because of the relationship between Uveitis and over 90 different pathogens and autoimmune disease processes we suggest that individuals with recurrent or chronic uveitis be treated by an uveitis specialist" THEY DO LIST MS AS ONE OF THE MANY AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES. KEEP LURKING AND STOP AND SAY HI TO US EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, OK?
Avatar n tn Anyway, there is obviously a significant degree of uveitis present in the front part of the eye (anterior uveitis) and some in the vitreous and pars plana (intermediate uveitis) but apparantly not in the chorioid (posterior uveitis). The possible causes are quite numerous and a medical workup will likely be undertaken. A definitive cause can only be found about half of the time or less.
Avatar m tn t take them properly, some disease grow worse as the person ages and has had the disease longer, you may not be on the right medications. These and other variables prevent giving a "yes" or "no" answer. Discuss with your MD team.
Avatar n tn I have been going to an Endocrinologist for almost 1 year. He has done several ultrasounds showing that I have 5 tumors on my thyroid. I have a biopsy which showed they were benign. I recently had another ultrasound which showed one of the tumors had shrunk but another one appeared.
Avatar f tn Have you been tested for thyroid antibodies to make sure you do, in fact, have Graves disease and are not simply in a hyper phase of Hashimoto's? Both Graves and Hashimoto's are autoimmune. While Graves is always connected with hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto's is most often connected with hypothyroidism, however it's not uncommon for one to have periods of hyperthyroidism in the beginning stages. You should ask for thyroid antibody tests.
Avatar n tn If you don't mind. I see you posts starts out as Graves Disease and you are looking for a surgeon? While I would have to do some checking around on this can you post the reason for the removal? - Is it for Graves disease?
Avatar n tn Has your doctor told you, you have Graves Disease? Yes, your TSH is extremely low and your FT4 is extremely high, indicating that you are hyper, but your antibody tests indicate Hashimoto's. TSI is the definitive test for Graves Disease and I don't see that listed. Have you been put on antithyroid med?
Avatar f tn Did I develop neutropenia from the Graves disease and how do I stop the neutropenia from getting worse? Also, what are some things that I should avoid as a result of my neutropenia? In addition, my heart rate ranges from 120-140 and I feel very tired and confused. Are these feelings a result of my heart rate? Thank you in advance.
Avatar f tn I am glad I found this site, I found out today that I have graves disease, I also have a multinodular goiter and I had a thyroid scan and it showed a cold area, so I have to have a biopsy. I am so scared, I have never really been sick and now all of a sudden I get this. Has anyone had a biopsy on a nodule and how long does it take for the results to get back? Any help is greatly appreciated!
