Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 28 year old woman and was diagnosed with graves disease 3 years ago. I have commented o many forums regarding my problem but would like your advice. I was treated with radio active iodine in 2006 and then became hypothyroid, I now take 150mg of levothyroxine daily. I have never suffered from graves opthalmology as far as i'm aware. For the last 6 months I have had a chronic daily headache. This started 3 days after purchasing new glasses.

Avatar f tn I am 27 years old ... have had thyroid problems since pregnant with my daughter almost two years ago! they were watching my thyroid levels prior to that pregnancy though. They say that I have hypothyroidism (thyroid don't work) buut I also have antibodies for graves disease ... although my thyroid jumps from hypo to hyper frequantly ... my question is will I ALWAYS have the antibodies for Graves disease? Makes it possible to get graves disease and most importantly ... is it heretitery?
Avatar n tn I would also ask the Specialist for a TSI (thyroid stimulating immuniglobulins) test to be done to rule out Graves Disease which an autoimmune disease that attacks the thyroid. Make sure you get labs done...Free T4, Free T3 and TSH done every 3-4 weeks while on anti-thyroid medications and also ask for a beta blocker as this will help with the 'hyper' feelings (fast heartrate, sweats, anxiety etc).
Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with Graves Disease which is an autoimmune disease associated with ur thyroid. I have noticed that I'm needing more pain meds than normal to relieve my pain. My question is, does this disease affect the relief I am supposed 2 be receiving from my normal dose? Basically, does my pain meds need to be increased or does my thyroid affect the digestion process of the meds?
Avatar n tn Had some blood work done within these two weeks, followed by more bloodwork, was sent to a specialist and was told that I have Graves disease along with Hep C. Needless to say I am surprised and overwhelmed. In the past three days I have started on Tapazole, 5mg a day, and I am still getting hives this whole time, along with increased fatigue. In the past 6 years I have developed allergies (hives) from many antibiotics, where before the only allergies I used to experience were seasonal.

415098 tn?1214856836 From what you have described, this may be due to migraine type of headaches most commonly due to stressful situations or inadequate rest. Knowing your previous history of graves disease and previous radiation treatment, these symptoms may be a sign of going hypothyroid together with some electrolyte abnormalities. I suggest that you be referred to a specialist like a neurologist just to make sure. Other causes would include deficiencies in vitamins (especially vitamin B) or calcium.
Avatar n tn I believe the hallmark of Graves Disease or Hashi's is antibodies...however, an upatke scan also helps confirm the disease. My Paternal and Maternal Grandmother's had Graves Disease and my mother has Hashi's...I wound up with Graves Disease but mine showed up at 22...their's did not show until into their 40's...strange little process autoimune thyroid disease is...
Avatar n tn Does anyone with Graves disease ever get itchy? I have been so itchy lately. I am not sure if it is a side effect of the medicine (PTU),or a symptom of the disease. Any suggestions? Or thoughts?
Avatar n tn Graves is an autoimmune disease and unfortunately for life. Controlling whether they raise or suppress is key to beating the symptoms of the disease. If you are on Levo now - your labs must be abnormal and now lean towards hypoT levels. You would feel like cr@p right now with the swinging patterns you have been on. "Once Graves.... always Graves" is the saying here. But I am positive your endo or ???
Avatar m tn It should be pointed out that, especially in the US literature, the term ‘hashitoxicosis’ is sometimes used to describe an autoimmune thyroid disease overlap syndrome of Graves’ and Hashimoto’s disease.2 In this article the term is strictly limited to the ‘leakage’ symptoms of active Hashimoto’s disease." *** I've had both Hashi's and Graves antibodies simultaneously but I had been diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis previously.
Avatar f tn I have recently had labs my doctor thinks I may have graves disease but can't get into a specialist till Feb. I have had symptoms for mths heart palpitations double and blurry vision. Wondering if I am gonna get worse before Feb and is that level high ? Oh and weight gain ??
Avatar m tn I've had symptoms of dry eyes, random itching, tiredness, and dry skin for no apparent reason since February. In April, my eyes started swelling up severely on the upper lids, and I had daily pain behind my eyes and headaches. After trips to multiple doctors, I was finally diagnosed with thyroid eye disease due to my hashimotos thyroiditis that I have known about and taken meds for about 12 years. My meds adjusted were adjusted about 2 1/2 weeks ago.
Avatar n tn I have been going to an Endocrinologist for almost 1 year. He has done several ultrasounds showing that I have 5 tumors on my thyroid. I have a biopsy which showed they were benign. I recently had another ultrasound which showed one of the tumors had shrunk but another one appeared.
Avatar f tn These antibodies can also be elevated with Graves disease as well but the test to also request for Graves disease is Thyroid-Stimulating Immunoglobulin (TSI). In Australia, the blood test for Graves is called TSH receptor antibodies (TRAb).
Avatar n tn Hyperthyroidism lists fatigue as a symptom. This can be due to insomnia and difficulty sleeping, a rapid pulse, and/or higher blood pressure. Conventional treatment options for Graves' disease include: * Anti-thyroid medication: In the US: - Methimazole [brand name Tapazole] - Propylthiouracil [PTU] Approximately 30% with Graves' disease will have a remission after prolonged treatment with anti-thyroid drugs.
