975514 tn?1324997938 My Uncle has Graves disease. My grandmother has Hashimotos (sp?). I have suffered from pain, tendonitis anxiety and a number of other co-occurring issues (DDD, arthritis, nerve dysfunction) that may be clouding my real problems. A year ago a had a THS test that was a 1.06, which is normal. My doctor never ran any additional tests. I have been tested before and usually test around this mark. Since then I have been placed on new medication (Topamax), have lost about 20lbs.
Avatar f tn Hi I was diagnosed with having hyperthyroid, specifically graves disease in 2004. My symptoms started while I was in college so I was too busy to notice things were wrong I just thought it was working too hard. Anyway. This morning I woke up really dizzy. I have no idea why. My doctor put me on 100mcg of Synthroid just recently. In fact I started it on September 6th. Before that I was at 50mcg.
Avatar n tn I was treated for Graves Disease with radioactive iodine last January. I now am diagnosed with hypothyroidism and was prescribed medication. Recently (before the new medicine) I have been experiencing stomach aches. Is this because of the imbalance of my thyroid? I have a very heavy menstrual cycle which I know will improve with treatment. Is this a sign of anemia? Or is it possibly something isolated from this altogether?
Avatar f tn The Dr did a radioactive iodine scan. Symptom wise...I don't sleep well at night, anxious at times, heavy menstrual cycle...I've also had my menstrual cycle twice in a month with the last six months, heart palpitations, I sometimes think I'm itchier than I should be.
552173 tn?1282603290 I had earlier also replied to your post regarding the irregularity in menstrual cycle citing thyroid disease to be one of the causes of irregular menstrual cycle. Constant tiredness and fatigue can be due to anemia, chronic fatigue syndrome, hypothyroidism, disorders of the hypothalamus, psychiatric disorders like depression and sleep-related breathing disorders.
596668 tn?1228158836 Hi, I have graves disease and i have all of the same symptoms you do. I finally broke down and went to the dr because i couldnt take it anymore. I sweat all the time, im always hungry and i only weigh 115 lbs because i lost so much weight, I was always mean and agitated and Ever since ive had thyroid issues my period has still been regular but the color is brownish and thicker also. I know having hyperthyroid throws off your menstrual cycle.
Avatar n tn Elevated TPOab usually indicates Hashi's. While Hashi's ends up being hypo, it can be hyper in early stages or can swing back and forth from hypo to hyper. TPOab can be somewhat elevated with other autoimmune diseases as well, like Graves' disease. And, though it sounds a contradiction in terms, you can have both Hashi's and Graves' antibodies. Your FT4 looks really good. It's at 56% of range, which is just above the 50% guideline.
Avatar f tn fast heart rate, insomnia, shakiness, menstrual cycle changes, increased blood pressure but only randomly, irritability, weakness, weight loss but that’s resolved, hair loss/straw like hair. Also, my maternal grandmother had her thyroid removed, maternal aunt has hyperthyroidism and mother has Graves’ disease.
Avatar n tn I wanted to have some lab ran because my days between menstrual cycle was 20 days for 2 months in a row. Has since returned to normal. TSH is 0 (0.3-4.8), T3 is 119 (76-181), T4 is 1.2 (0.7-1.6), Thyroid Antibodies 262 (<35). Subclinical hyperthyroidism? No symptoms other than stalled weight loss. Only possible significant history is intentional weight loss over the past year of around 60lbs by healthy diet and cardio. Previous TSH 3 years ago was WNL. Again, I am asymptomatic.

Avatar m tn A little over a year ago i found out that I had hyperthyroidism - I had all the symptoms from unbelievable eye pressure, vomiting, weight loss, headaches, loss of menstrual cycle for 5 months, hair loss, rash on stomach etc. I went to my doctor who after giving me every antibiotic for flu and rash creams finally did blood work to test my thyroid. He directed me to see an endocronologist which i have been seeing in NYC for over a year now.
Avatar n tn I am 28 years old. I have never seen a menstrual cycle. When I was 18 years old I was put on premarin. A couple of months later I saw what I thought was my period for like 3 days, after that never saw it again. I haven't benn to a doctor ever again. Am I damaged goods? What should I do?
Avatar f tn I do have a son already who was conceived naturally so we thought that helped our chances, although on the flip side I do have Graves disease (diagnosed after my son was born) and I am now 42. We increased my Synthroid once just when we transferred the embryos, and then again when I was still feeling bad (to 150 mg), but that was right before we got a negative test result.
Avatar f tn Hi Doctors and/or other Medical Professionals! I had a pelvic ultrasound 4/2/15. I am going to be 36 on 7/30/15. I have 2 children, 8 and 4, vaginal birth. I have Graves' Disease too. My periods are irregular it goes from the beginning of the month, to the middle to the end. It changes every month. This past period I got it 2 weeks apart. With both births I felt pain in my left side where my ovary is when I was pushing. My Gyno said everything was ok, but I wanted a second opinion.
548115 tn?1214658786 Well Justmeok, I already know I have celiac....That is why my doc wanted to see if there is also Graves disease. You seem to be well informed, Actually there is a connection between celiac - graves and hashimotos (the one triggers the other), but doctors still cant' tell which one comes first...... My question is if there is graves and at the same time TSH , FT3 and FT4 are normal. I totally understand you when you say your doctor was a Godsend......
Avatar n tn I was Diagnosed and Treated with radioactive Iodine for Graves Disease in the Fall of last year. Since then I have been battling hair loss, weight gain, muscle cramps and extreme tiredness. I recently in May went on the synthroid but haven't had much change except for the muscle cramps have reduced. My question is though, how does taking synthroid effect your periods.
