I was was wondering what the glucose tolerance test involved I live in the uk and have the 3 hour one on the 8th of january im currently 27w1d. All that it says on the letter ive got from the hospital is that its 3 hour and I have to starve myself and only drink water from 11 oclock the night before.

People at the lab told me to go in the lab in the morning whem you have not had anything sweet to eat. I decided to go have it done tomorrow before breakfast. The lab guy said dont come in here sucking on a crispy cream and a 44oz mt dew or you will fail..lmfao!! His joke made me laugh!

I have a glucose tolerance test tomorrow & I have not been given any information on or about it. My mum has rang my GP surgery this morning for info and they have told her that i can't have a cigarette after 10pm tonight until I have had my 2nd blood test... is this right? No hate please about smoking in pregnancy I just want advice because surely a cigarette has nothing to do with my sugar tolerance...

What did yall eat before going in for your glucose test?

So, here in the UK we have a mini glucose tolerance test at 28 weeks. If you have raised blood sugar levels you then have to take the full version of the test. With my first baby I passed the mini GTT with flying colours! This time round I've been scheduled in for the full version of the test. I know they'll give me lots more information at the next appointment but in the meantime, has anyone gone through this? What are the dangers of having GD?! Can this effect the baby?

Hey! 29wks and ftm. Just checked in for my GTT test, had my blood taken and the glucose drink (surprisingly nice) now gotta wait 2hours without leaving the ward ?!

Finally, there is no need for concern that the light will damage the babies eyes. It is dark in there, and unless the light is extremely bright, it won't shine through into the uterus, and baby probably will not even notice it. Good luck!

Some people say it's bad it ***** etc.. but for me it went pretty well besides feeling a little light headed after. I couldn't eat before going in . (So that's why it's best to go in the morning .) I had to drink the fruit punch kind under 3 minutes . Didn't taste bad . Tasted normal lol Then wait an hour in the waiting room & then got my blood drawn from my right arm . I had mine done at 28weeks.

The test *****. It is dreadful simply because the test always makes me sick. Too much sugar! I have one coming up this Friday and I really don't want to go. So you might get sick but the best way to get that stuff out of ya is to drink lots of water eat a little something and go to bed. My results always came back all good but as ya get older your body does that aging thing and the body tends to the dumps. Just to put it nicely.

Did anyone else feel really drained after having a glucose tolerance test? I had one before and this one now 2 weeks later and I feel really drained.

I took my test in the afternoon. My dr said as long as you fast for 3 hours prior to the test it is ok. i didnt want to go in in the morning b/c I am way to hungry!! Did they tell you how long to fast?

t eat at all and the only liquids I can have is water. But the ladies at the front desk are the ones that give yu the drink and make sure yu understand the directions and all that and she told me I could up till I drank it but after that I couldn eat or drink anything.

24weeks!!! Next week I have to do that glucose tolerance test!!!! Anybody took it already? Please let me know what flavor you and how was it.
