Avatar f tn There was a one hour version of the Glucose Tolerance Test? No fair. I had the full fast, sit around a hospital for 2 hours of my working day one. All clesr tho.
Avatar m tn That is to high. Get glucose intolerance test done. U could be insulin resistance/ pre diabetic control why I still can. I'm 30 last yr found out I'm insulin resistance and have PCOS. My dad his dad and 4 siblings all have diabetes. Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn What time is your glucose test? If its shortly after breakfast I would not recommend eating that much sugar. You don't want to get a false positive and have to take the 3 hour test.
Avatar f tn Last week I took my glucose tolerance and I just found out that I failed it, but a lot. My blood sugar was 160 and the cut off is 130. So, now I have to take another, more rigorous test this week. My issue is that for the last 2-3 weeks I've had quite a sweet tooth. I've been craving fruit, pies, pastries you name it - and I've been eating them.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to eat a bacon and egg biscuit the morning of my glucose test . And What should I expect ? Most ppl say not to eat the night before the glucose test... but my doctor told me to.
Avatar n tn Adrenaline raises glucose levels by stimulating the liver to change glycogen into glucose. When normal glucose regulation fails with type 2 diabetics, the kidneys are forced to remove excess glucose via the urinary tract. This usually is caused by insulin deficiency. In your case this does not apply. I have read that one of the common symptoms of POTS is reactive hypoglycemia, lowering of glucose.
Avatar f tn With most fasting glucose tolerance test I think it was 10 hours only. Here when you have a fasting test the won't accept anything over 12 hours.
Avatar f tn Are testing your glucose with a home meter? What are your glucose levels preprandial [b4 breakfast] and postprandial [2-3 hrs after a meal]? If your levels remain elevated above normal do not stop the Metformin. If you have normal fasting levels [preprandial] and normal postprandial levels notify your doctor of your intentions to stop Metformin 72 hrs prior to the test. Do NOT stop unless your doctor authorizes you to do so.
Avatar f tn for my next appointment i going to have the glucose tolerance test beverage and i have many question + I'm scared. help is my first time.
Avatar f tn I don't have my thyroid hormone levels yet, I go see the doctor again this afternoon. I can post them here once, they are drawn and returned. Still have this mild headache but more so just dizzy confused state of mind. Although high blood sugar runs in my family, I have been tested about 3 years ago and they said my glucose levels were normal. I will ask to see if I can have that retested as well! Thank you Barb135!
Avatar f tn So I did my 1 hour glucose tolerance last week and got my results today. Kinda upset...they came back abnormal. They like for the glucose to be under 140 and mine was 164. About 3 hours after drinking the glucola last week my sugar dropped to 42, luckily I'm a nurse and noticed what was going on and immediately checked my sugar and then ate. But anyway...I go back on Friday to do my 3 hour glucose and am so nervous it is going to come back positive too.
Avatar n tn Have you recently been retested by your doctor? If you drank a 75 gram glucose drink - for an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test [OGTT] - your preferred 2 hour maximum level is expected to be <140 mg/dl [< = less than]. However, some labs, and some doctors, use <180 mg/dl as the maximum range. Talk with your doctor and get properly tested - Fasting, OGTT and A1c tests. Lastly, try to restrict your consumption of bad carbs.
Avatar f tn Testing for diabetes using fasting and A1C is not adequate testing. As Jemm suggested you need a glucose tolerance test. That's going to show the real picture of what's going on. In addition, to the OGTT which should be (a) 4 hrs with 5 points: fasting, 1/2 hr, 1 hr, 2hr, 3hr, and 4hr (b) it should also measure your amount of insulin. Most doctors won't do this unless you ask them to. But you need both to get you a picture of what is really going on.
Avatar f tn I'm sure the front desk lady knows nothing about the glucose tolerance test nor can she give you advise on what she believes u can do. For best results, you must be on an empty stomach. If the 1 hr glucose test comes bk abnormal then you will have to do the 3 hr test. Trust me, there's alot more sugar in that drink and alot more blood draws.
Avatar f tn So she said their was allot of carbs and thats prob why their was sugar present when they tested it. But I have to go for a glucose tolerance test Wednesday just to make sure thats what it is! . . . But im a bit worried about it I have always eaten healthy and im not over weight (pre pregnancy) and I dont have any family members with diabetes so im hoping I dont have it! Im quite worried!!!
4275750 tn?1376004759 Try oatmeal, plain or with cinnamon and nuts. An artificial sweetener to sweeten things up but use in moderation; Stevia, Stevita, Succralose.
Avatar n tn I'm a 53 year old woman who just had a 3 hour glucose tolerance test, here are my results: Fasting - 106 1 hour - 210 2 hour - 230 3 hour - 167 I'm not sure if these results mean I'm a pre-diabetic or diabetic. Thank you for your help in advance.
5864651 tn?1396931970 I was was wondering what the glucose tolerance test involved I live in the uk and have the 3 hour one on the 8th of january im currently 27w1d. All that it says on the letter ive got from the hospital is that its 3 hour and I have to starve myself and only drink water from 11 oclock the night before.
Avatar m tn Hey, David. I have some links to Dr. Charles Parker's web site that basically says that taking a high protein breakfast with Vyvannse will really help extend its length of action. I am betting that you really don't take the time for a good breakfast? Actually, a high protein breakfast might help with the other extended release meds too ( can't remember). Anyway, get a high protein drink and take it in morning and see if things last longer.
Avatar f tn I have a glucose tolerance test tomorrow & I have not been given any information on or about it. My mum has rang my GP surgery this morning for info and they have told her that i can't have a cigarette after 10pm tonight until I have had my 2nd blood test... is this right? No hate please about smoking in pregnancy I just want advice because surely a cigarette has nothing to do with my sugar tolerance...
