Common Questions and Answers about Glucose diet cancer

glucose

Avatar m tn the reason i ask about ketogenic is because when your body relies on ketones instead of glucose i thought would be a good way to burn off fatty liver, it also means cancer cells cannot survive as the soley rely only on glucose but if you starve your body of glucose it can operate on ketones from fat.
441690 tn?1327078843 Recalled By Life, written by an MD named Anthony Satillaro who beat his advanced cancer with macrobiotic diet after all conventional medicine had failed. He went on to live at least a dozen or so more years. I was so impressed that I immediately changed my diet to macrobiotic as I had been suffering from irritable bowel issues. Within 5 days this problem which had been bothering me for several years was gone.
Avatar f tn Studies have indeed show that high blood glucose may predispose to cancer and cancer cells primarily run on glucose. Views on this are diverse and while further studies may need to be done, it is still up to the patient to take this. Westernized approach of cancer has involved chemotherapy and medications while eastern medicine have been employing dietary approach in management of diseases for a long time. Discuss this with your doctors for proper management. Take care and best regards.
Avatar m tn Glucose (95), Cholesterol (180) and Trigliceridies (160). I also tested for insulin and for my surprise...just 1.7! I´ve never had tested for insulin before. Why do I have normal glucose and low insulin? I´m so scared! Thank you for suggestions!

Avatar m tn Have you had your fasting glucose repeated? No, I think in your case pancreatic cancer is not something it could be. The itches could be anxiety and it sounds like you need to see a therapist about your anxiety. What medicines are you taking for your IBS?
Avatar m tn According to my doctor, both, pre-diabetes and type II diabetes are reversed if you can maintain normal blood glucose levels, via diet and exercise, without medication.
Avatar f tn I had fasting labs done a few months ago because of hypothyroid. My blood glucose at that time was 102mg/dl. Is that high enough for a diagnosis of diabetes? I already have another appointment for fasting labs next month. I thought I would get a jump start on changing my eating habits but I can't figure out what I can eat. Everytime I try to follow one of the diets in a magazine or on a website I end up with headaches that last for days.
973741 tn?1342342773 Doctors can test for insulin resistance by doing a glucose tolerance test and testing both glucose levels and insulin levels. If insulin levels are high, even while glucose levels are normal, there is insulin resistance and risk of developing diabetes. Insulin resistance means that the body doesn't respond well to insulin and so high levels of insulin are required.
979080 tn?1323433639 It is true that cancer cells thrive on sugar-just like any other cells or bacteria they love glucose. Because cancer cells grow and multiply very fast, they need a lot of energy that is obtained from sugar. I did see information that hepatitis C virus needs iron to replicate. That is why patients with HCV should avoid iron supplements. But I don't think that sugar can boost hepatitis C virus in any way. Viruses don't need nutrition of any kind.
Avatar m tn An HbA1C blood test or a glucose test would confirm whether you have diabetes or prediabetes. Glucose will only show in the urine if it over a specific amount The symptoms of burning or having a difficulty to urinate, or pain when urinating can be caused by a bladder infection, a urinary tract infection (which could also cause pain in the kidney area), kidney stones. The protein that showed up in the urine specimen would mean that you have an infection.
752468 tn?1237560359 Hi...I am a member of the Breast Cancer Community and just found out that my husband's blood glucose level fasting is 250. He has had the symptoms of diabetis ...excessive thirst, weight loss...tingly feet, and I noticed very sticky spots of urine on the bathroom floor. We are not surprised that he has diabetis...runs in the family. My question is, where do we go first. He hasn't even talked to a doctor yet, but we want to get a jump on this.
Avatar n tn Cancer cells alter your pets body’s ability to metabolize dietary nutrients, including carbohydrates, fats and proteins. The effect of cancer on dog and cat glucose or "blood" sugar metabolism is most dramatic in pets. Cancer or tumor cells preferentially use anaerobic glycolysis to metabolize glucose for energy, forming lactate as the end product. Lactate is then converted back to glucose at the expense of your pet.

That poses a problem when it comes to taking a test 2 hrs after eating as I am nibbling throughout day. Any helpful hints? Also, I am not having any troubles keeping my sugar down during the day. 17131678 tn?1453958310 Sugar also feeds cancer cells and thus promotes cancer as well as disease in general. Note of course that refined carbohydrates (grain based products), convert into sugar in the digestive process. So avoid all bread and cereal products as well as crackers, cookies, cake, pizza etc. ............ Refined sugar is the most acid forming food one can eat and it has ZERO nutritional value.

Avatar f tn Total cholesterol 179, Tri 45, HDL 88, LDL (Direct) 92, LDL-P 926. Last year I cut out starchy foods and simple carbs because my A1c was 5.9, which brought it down to 5.5. However, my A1c was back up to 5.9 on my last test with no change in diet (fasting glucose was 95). I'm concerned about the increased risk of diabetes for women on statins especially since Type 2 diabetes is in my family. I've been on Zocor for approx.
Avatar f tn I need help with dietary advice. I have several diaganoises that all have diet restrictions and its beginning to look like I can only have water - purified! The following is a list of issues with dietary restrictions: borderline diabetic, cirrohsis, bi-polar, migraines, and food allergies to coconut and mustard. I have one form of information that says to drink lots of fluids including fruit juices. Another says to avoid simple carbs - like fruit juices!
Avatar m tn While its possible that a poor diet and the inability to eat properly may cause problems with weight maintenance due to nutrition problems, it would seem odd that it would occur so rapidly. I would go back to your primary MD for another referral to another specialist. I would also post this question in the other boards to see if you can potentially find an answer.
