590177 tn?1288425854 I take 2grams a day extra and salt my food but my BP is typically low, and I take florinef. That is what my doctor and cardiologist told me to do. Drink all you need, and salt salt salt - it will help if you are craving it. I have not read the book.
Avatar m tn Hi. Supplements to a dog's diet such as Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate, Omega Fatty Acids, Vitamin E, Selenium, and MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) all assist in decreasing inflammation and improving the body's ability to repair and strengthen tissues. Supplements, however, will not reverse structural changes in a joint such as torn cartilage, calcium deposits and advanced scar tissue.
Avatar f tn However, Italian researchers have found that the LD50 (the lethal dose at which half of the animals die) of glucosamine sulfate is 8000 mg/kg. In humans this would be equivalent to ingesting over 500,000 mg at one time or 1,000 pills each containing 500 mg. I hope this is useful... I got the idea from the site that max safe dose is 1500mg, and your dog had twice that much. You may want to see the vet anyway, even tho it says in the previous paragraph that a lethal dose is 8000mg.

Avatar m tn but to be honest, it to with the electricial charges in every living body on earth, the potassium sulfate(epson) absorbs into the body and make the body less acidic(negative charge, alkiline) and balances the PH to higher level and this makes the cell walls in the body more efficient and they release toxic (acidic, postive charge) from the cells and actually makes it easy for the nutrients to get into the cells...most body cells today are and our bodys are positively charged and acidic...
Avatar m tn Pt. II -- Other ideas are chondrointon and glucosamine sulfate, which help some, don't help others. Some also find help by avoiding foods in the nightshade family. Lots of research to do.

6669309 tn?1462648142 Hi. Arthritis is very common in older dogs and the longer dogs live the more common it is becoming. Nutritional supplements Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate are two substances that have fast become the standard treatment in canine age-related arthritis. These are often sold as a single combined substance in good pet shops and quality supermarkets. Alternatively, just look up "Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate for dogs" on Google and you should find a supplier.
Avatar f tn Most people with arthritis have some nutritional deficiencies, including lowered levels of vitamins A, B6, B12, and C. Glucosamine sulfate can help. The proper levels of minerals like magnesium and selenium is also important. Most arthritic patients need detoxification from heavy metals like mercury. Eliminate refined foods. Eat a whole-food diet including unrefined sugar, salt, oil, and flour, and as much organic produce as possible. Also, drink enough water.

1295500 tn?1272459927 Hi, my questions is I have a 9 year old collie, Sheppard, husky mix dog she's probably about 90 lbs now. She seems to be having a lot of problem with her back legs. Some days she seems fine and other days she can barely get up off the floor and when she does her back legs shake. Right now what's happening is she is holding one of her legs up and walking on three legs.
Avatar n tn At any rate, there are so many remedies for joint inflammation -- MSM, chondroiton and glucosamine sulfate, proteolytic enzymes such as bromelain, quercitin, vitamin C, ginger, turmeric, boswellia, devil's claw, yucca -- I mean, the list is very long. Perhaps the best thing is to buy a good book on natural treatment of this problem since there are so many combinations of options to choose from.
351404 tn?1299489130 Here in UK they are saying that calcium supplements double the risk of heart attack. Would glucosamine sulphate, currently taken by so many for healhy joints, be considered such a supplement? I can't ascertain whether these are two different supplements.
Avatar n tn The salt will manage the potassium naturally. Salt your food extra - you need it now. I carry sea salt in a container in my purse as it tasted better (oddly, it has lower sodium, but I like it more).
Avatar f tn Other options include omega 3, and glucosamine/chondroitin sulfate. Studies indicate that both seem to act as natural anti-inflammatories. Finally, I have had success sending patients for acupuncture to aid in their pain relief and recovery from orthopedic problems.
1652468 tn?1302900498 Most arthritic patients have multiple nutritional deficiencies, including lowered levels of vitamins A, B6, B12, and C. Glucosamine sulfate can help. Ensuring adequate levels of minerals such as magnesium and selenium is also important. Finally, detoxification should be part of any arthritic patient’s holistic plan. Most arthritic patients need detoxification from heavy metals such as mercury.
1360851 tn?1277581906 I wouldn't, it's a very hot herb. Best bet is to buy the caps standardized for circumin. And it's best to combine things, no one thing is that strong naturally.

Avatar f tn Your level is low probably because your adrenals are still working ok, but they may be diseased still or your pituitary is not signaling them properly and should be watched as your adrenals are likely going to fail at some time. Any other tests - renin, aldosterone, ACTH, dhea sulfate...
1488651 tn?1296698023 That set was fine - but alas, cortisol testing takes time - and should be done in several sets over time as it can vary quite a bit. Plus the symptoms can overlap with other things - so you would need a good endocrine check. But the normal sodium and potassium pretty much means low cortisol may not be the issue as Addison's is a salt wasting disease and those would be off if you had low cortisol - they would be at the low end (or K at the high end).
675347 tn?1365460645 I have a 60 pound dog with major arthritis. It's very hard for her to get up on things anymore and get up the stairs. I have 1500 mg glucosamine and 1200 mg conjoint and pills. I would like to start giving it to her but I don't know how much is safe. Should I do one 1500 mg pill two times a day? Or 1500 mg pill once a day? I'd like to start giving it to her in the morning. I can't seem to find much information online.
