Avatar n tn ginger and glucosamine sulfate will affect coumadin (warfarin) I'm on warfarin and can't take ginger or glucosamine and a host of other supplements.
Avatar m tn I know that there is a herbal medicine that has shown effective cure for reducing joint inflammations caused by arthritis. As, I know ginger is the best herbal medicine for arthritis, the use of ginger is unknown to me. If anyone having idea on it, then please suggest me. Thanks a lot!

1295500 tn?1272459927 Hi, my questions is I have a 9 year old collie, Sheppard, husky mix dog she's probably about 90 lbs now. She seems to be having a lot of problem with her back legs. Some days she seems fine and other days she can barely get up off the floor and when she does her back legs shake. Right now what's happening is she is holding one of her legs up and walking on three legs.
Avatar n tn At any rate, there are so many remedies for joint inflammation -- MSM, chondroiton and glucosamine sulfate, proteolytic enzymes such as bromelain, quercitin, vitamin C, ginger, turmeric, boswellia, devil's claw, yucca -- I mean, the list is very long. Perhaps the best thing is to buy a good book on natural treatment of this problem since there are so many combinations of options to choose from.
Avatar m tn if you take them at mealtime it will just act to digest the protein you just ate, whereas for antiinflammatory purposes you want it to digest the crud that forms around joints and muscles that partially cause inflammation. (Very scientific term, crud, eh? There is a word for it, but I forget what it is). A cheaper supplement you can find in any health food store is Woebenzyme, but I don't think it works quite as well, at least for me. Sells a whole lot better, though.
Avatar f tn Other options include omega 3, and glucosamine/chondroitin sulfate. Studies indicate that both seem to act as natural anti-inflammatories. Finally, I have had success sending patients for acupuncture to aid in their pain relief and recovery from orthopedic problems.
1360851 tn?1277581906 I wouldn't, it's a very hot herb. Best bet is to buy the caps standardized for circumin. And it's best to combine things, no one thing is that strong naturally.
Avatar m tn I generally favor Aleve (naproxen) for orthopedic pain. The perscription dose is 500mg twice a day, Aleve comes in 220mg capsules, and lasts about 12 hours, so two pills twice daily is my usual recommendation. Alternatively, I suggest one or two Aleve before activity. However, I would not start on a course of NSAID's before checking with your physician to be sure there is no contraindication. In addition, you might consider using a vitamin containing glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate.
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. If the Baker's cyst is restricting movement it may need to be surgically corrected. For the arthritis conservative measures are weight loss, rest, ice, canes, bracing, physical therapy. etc. Also, nutrition supply should be considered, with chondroprotective agents (glucosamine & chondroitin phosphate, MSM, Omega-3). Glucosamine and chondroitin phosphate are unlikely to cause any drug to drug interactions with your other medications.
Avatar f tn I also buy the Pedigree dog food which has one where it has glucosamine in it for healthy joints. Ofcourse ask your vet if Glucosamine would be ok for your dog to take because I don't know if hip arthritis and hip dysplasia is the same thing. I hope and pray your baby gets better.
1652468 tn?1302900498 Most arthritic patients have multiple nutritional deficiencies, including lowered levels of vitamins A, B6, B12, and C. Glucosamine sulfate can help. Ensuring adequate levels of minerals such as magnesium and selenium is also important. Finally, detoxification should be part of any arthritic patient’s holistic plan. Most arthritic patients need detoxification from heavy metals such as mercury.
20898027 tn?1590467808 There are some supplements that are supposed to help with joint and connective tissue, such as collagen, glucosamine sulfate, and some others. Others help with inflammation, such as turmeric and ginger. I just don't think magnesium is one of them and if the rotator cuff is torn severely enough you'll probably need surgery. If it's just age and usage, again, you'd probably be sent to PT.
Avatar n tn Eating the right foods literally feeds your joints and keeps them strong and flexible. Foods like fish and walnuts or almonds contain essential fatty acids that lubricate. Unless you eat fatty fish like salmon or sardines on most days, you're not getting enough omega-3 fats-or their anti-inflammatory benefits. You want to get two specific omega-3s in particular: EPA and DHA. The best source for both is fish oil. Aim for 1,000-3,000 mg total DHA and EPA.
Avatar f tn Hi. I have always been physically active and have never been overweight. There is no arthritis in my family and feel that for most of my life have eaten properly. I have arthritis in my hip.
Avatar f tn Diagnosis of osteoarthritis is confirmed by physical examination and X-rays of the ankle joint. Medications like glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate are being used as they are effective in reducing the pain of OA in all joints. Physical therapy plays an important role in the treatment plan of osteoarthritis. If you are not satisfied seeking second opinion will help. Do keep me posted. Take care and regards!
Avatar n tn I have heard many different things about glucosamine for dogs . That is is okay for your dogs, and also that it isn't. There can be many benefits to providing supplements for your dog. It can help them remain healthy and with that even happier. No one likes to deal with a grumpy dog. Can you tell me where I could find more information about glucosamine for dogs though?
Avatar m tn Are you experiencing any reaction or similar side effects with the long acting Morphine (Kadian)? As Dmoonchild said Kadian IS Morphine. There are several brand names for MS (Morphine Sulfate)..... but in the end they are all basically the same or similar chemical structure. Your previous reaction may have been related to other factors, such as the type of Morphine, any other medications you were being prescribed or simply your systems reaction at the specific time.
1110049 tn?1409402144 Glucosamine is commonly taken in combination with chondroitin, a glycosaminoglycan derived from articular cartilage. Use of complementary therapies, including glucosamine, is common in patients with osteoarthritis, and may allow for reduced doses of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents.
Avatar f tn She was amazed to find herself free of pain for the first time. I did not follow up on this so do not know if it works for everyone. But it is simple and certainly worth a try.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your response Jerry. Yep 12 is a very respectable age for a Rott (may be Lab in there too), but he's still spunky! The treatments are not prescription, they were suggested by another who uses them, but I did consult my vet before giving them to him... they're on the level of human vitamins, not medications. The food is grain free because my other dog has allergies and the better food helps that. I agree I think aspirin causes liver problems in dogs...
