You probably should not be feeding those to your dogs because they are not made for dogs. Admittedly, I tried that avenue once because it was cheaper than the "made for dogs" chondroiten and glucosamine that's recommended for larger dogs. It didn't produce any positive effects after one entire bottle so then, we tried arthritus meds. My american bull was experiencing a slight limp. The meds didn't do anything!
Finally, I tried Phycox chews.
I have heard many different things about glucosamine for dogs . That is is okay for your dogs, and also that it isn't. There can be many benefits to providing supplements for your dog. It can help them remain healthy and with that even happier. No one likes to deal with a grumpy dog. Can you tell me where I could find more information about glucosamine for dogs though?

My dog is 12 year old and has arthrits and the vet told me to use glucosamine. In the summer time he does not need it. Now my dog is whimpering and shakeing, when I pet him he stops. This started a couple of days ago. The weather got really cold fast and I just started him back on glucosamine. Does this sound like the arthrits acting up or do I need to worry? How much glucosamine can I give him? I hate when my dog is in pain, I have had him since I was in kindergarden.
the verdict still is not out on glucosamine in dogs. Their digestive systems are different enough compared to humans that we worry the glucosamine is not absorbed well. There are several great foods that your vet can recommend that actually reverse arthritis plus these foods are designed for senior dogs (less protein, higher fibre, more anti-oxidants) anyways and help prolong life. The daily cost of these foods are actually less then a good petstore brand plus supplements.
At any rate, there are so many remedies for joint inflammation -- MSM, chondroiton and glucosamine sulfate, proteolytic enzymes such as bromelain, quercitin, vitamin C, ginger, turmeric, boswellia, devil's claw, yucca -- I mean, the list is very long. Perhaps the best thing is to buy a good book on natural treatment of this problem since there are so many combinations of options to choose from.

Ibuprofen is TOXIC to dogs....It sounds as if she is still in good shape, but needs a prescription for pain meds. from your Vet.....Your Vet will have a selection of meds to treat your girl's, what I beleive to be, Arthrititis....They work wonders....
The yellow bile is stomach acid and the Ibuprofen could possibly be damaging her stomach lining.....Usually, dogs vomit bile when they've gone too long without food.....She needs to be fed 2 meals a day and a snack before bedtime.....
When you say "LegS" makes me think of a spinal cord problem (that would affect both back legs!) i.e... Disc, instability or tumor. Could be "body-wide" arthritis - very common in older large breed dogs. I would not waste time or money on Acupuncture (few do it right and has little actual clinical effects). Stem Cell therapy is expensive and has only a small percentage of effectiveness. Your dog is not a good candidate.
Her weight was 30lbs so the dose for her was 500mg Glucosamine and 200 of Chondroitin (combined in one capsule once daily with food.) For a 47lb dog you would probably be looking at between 500mg (Glucosamine) and 700mg, and Chondroitin between 200mg and 300.
Otherwise, he is extremely active, runs with my younger dog, shows no signs of limbing. His weight is great. He is taking a glucosamine supplement which hasn't done much. All his blood work is fine. Is there anything I can do for him to prevent this from getting worse?
