ve had multiple knee surgeries and my Ortho surgeon suggested that I try Osteo BiFlex (glucosamine and chondrointin) which seems to have helped immensely with arthritis pain (yes, I'm only 34 but have had problems with my knee since I was 21 due to a bad surgery the 1st time around)....You can get that at Walmart.....it takes a week or so to start noticing a difference though...Good luck.
5 pound schnauzer and has been limping a bit after exercise. I have started giving her 500 mg of glucosamine a day and wanted to know if this is the right dosage?
There is a lot on the internet about glucosamine and dry eyes. the problem is none of it is good science, evidence based medicine and almost all articles are from websites or companies that sell glucosamine.
This started a couple of days ago. The weather got really cold fast and I just started him back on glucosamine. Does this sound like the arthrits acting up or do I need to worry? How much glucosamine can I give him? I hate when my dog is in pain, I have had him since I was in kindergarden.
I have always fed them a really good food with the added glucosamine. I just recently changed foods to one without glucosamine. My lab started limping really bad. I went to human vitamin store and got her some glucosamine supplements. I got the liquid flavored glucosamine and the glucosamine soft flavored chew. I know some cannot swallow pills. My dog eats the chews if I slightly warm them. She will not touch the liquid. I would rather put a pill in some meat or something.
My dog weighed 28-30lbs and the correct dose for her was 500mg Glucosamine per day. The vet said the 'human' Glucosamine was fine to use, so long as the dosage was correct for the dog's weight.
So it depends what your dog's weight is, how much you can increase the dose.
As far as I can make out, dogs (and humans too) respond differently to Glucosamine. With some there are great results, and with some, not much improvement.
You could mention this to your vet perhaps.
ive been giving my dog which is 17kg 1000mg of glucosamine every day for a week which i will now reduce to 500mg a day is there any thing else i should give him with this or is glucosamine alone ok my dog has early signs of arthritis in his back legs its a bit of an effort for him to get up now he is 10 yrs 3mths old and had cruciate ligament surgery back in may last yr and in the other leg about 5 to 6 yrs ago
She is about 47 lbs and is having hip discomfort......I want to buy a glucosamine supplement to see if help but some of them that I am seeing have a lot side effects....Do you have any suggestions for one that has less side effects?
ginger and glucosamine sulfate will affect coumadin (warfarin) I'm on warfarin and can't take ginger or glucosamine and a host of other supplements.
I take a throid pill every morning. Would glucosamine Chondrotin interfer with it?

I also have arthritis in my fingers, which is getting worse. A friend advised me to take glucosamine but considering it is made from the shells of sea creatures I wonder whether it contains iodine. Does anyone know if it would effect the thyroxine?
I just bought Osteo Bi-Flex with 5-Loxin advanced (Glucosamine, Chrondroitin, MSM, AKBA complex) at Walmart for my dogs. One dog weighs about 120lbs, and the other weighs about 65lbs. I need direction in knowing how many caplets to give to each of them daily. Very grateful.

I have the same thing going on with both my wrists and even the fingers on my right hand. My problem stems from doing my gardening and having MCS has made it worse. The only thing I have been able to do to keep the inflamation down is applying a lotion that contains Glucosamine, MSM and Arnica made by NOW. It took a few weeks before I noticed a big difference.
