441382 tn?1452810569 s OK to use a glucosamine with chondroitin product that you can buy OTC from the grocery or health food store, what would the dosage be for a 50 pound dog? I posted this to the Expert Forum but when I went back to see if I had a response I couldn't even find my post! LOL So I decided to re-post it here where I know how to find it again so I can actually read the responses I get!
Avatar n tn I went to human vitamin store and got her some glucosamine supplements. I got the liquid flavored glucosamine and the glucosamine soft flavored chew. I know some cannot swallow pills. My dog eats the chews if I slightly warm them. She will not touch the liquid. I would rather put a pill in some meat or something. It is much easier for her to take. I put her back on a food with glucosamine and she isnt having any problems. I learned my lesson about changing foods.
Avatar f tn The second item lists chicken by-product meal… a dry rendered product of slaughterhouse waste. It’s made from what’s left of a slaughtered chicken after all the prime cuts have been removed. In a nutshell, chicken by-products are those unsavory leftovers usually considered “unfit for human consumption”. This stuff can contain almost anything… feet, beaks, undeveloped eggs… anything (that is) but skeletal muscle (real meat).

Avatar m tn 21century, product: k9 maximum joint health). At my work (agriculture supplies) we have a formula for horses. 50ml dose Glucosamine is HCI (10,000mg) Chondroitin is shark cartilage (1,000mg) MSM (2,000mg) Boswellia (4,000mg) Yucca (500mg) a one liter bottle is $40 and would last almost a year at 750mg glucosamine doses. My question is can I use this for my dog, are the supplement ratios okay?
1093971 tn?1257833640 Not all glucosamine products are created equal. In order to best evaluate a product, you need to consider several things. When your healthcare and joint discomfort is at stake, take a moment and consider these criteria: What form is the glucosamine in? What is the total daily dose? Are there any other ingredients? What type is the glucosamine? How pure are the ingredients? If you’re considering taking glucosamine with chondroitin you have another ballgame.
Avatar n tn s probably just age creeping up on him. What type of glucosamine product are you using on him? How long has he been on it? Those products don't work right away. Oftentimes you don't see any results at all for at least 30 days, and you don't get to peak performance until the pet has been taking it for six months or more. So unless he has been on the glucosamine for half a year or more, I wouldn't give up yet and say that it hasn't done much.
Avatar m tn Please, Quickly put him in the bath tub......Use only Dawn or Palmolive dish liquid....The Dawn Blue is the best....Wash, wash where you applied the Advantix...Then rinse, rinse, rinse.......If he does not get better, get him to a Vet ASAP.......There are many complaints about this product.....Everything from neurological disorders, organ failure, & death.......This chemical is a powerful pesticide...... Google (After his bath) "Advantix Warnings".....
Avatar f tn Has anyone uses or heard of Compulsin? Im skeptical of any new product but this product sounds like a dream come true for OCD sufferers. I have found several reviews.. none seem bad thus far.
Avatar f tn If you wish to try it make sure you are not allergic to shell fish (glucosamine) or MSM (from pine tree bark) or Arnica ( arnica montana flower). You can buy MSM and arnica lotions separately and there is a glucosamine product that is made from corn but it is expensive. I am also taking vitamins which seems to be helping too.
1701344 tn?1307126822 Has anyone tried this product and been successful with it? My grandmother ordered it for me and I am yet to start taking because of the bad reviews that I have read.
558059 tn?1288550944 Hi I have a 8 1/2 year old GSPointer . On recent visit to vets I was advised to put her on Glucosamine & Chrondrotin . She has been on them for 6 weeks now but I haven't noticed any improvement in her general movements. Is it advisable to keep her on these tablets now that I have started. Also could cod liver oil be of benefit to her? She is not good at taking these tablets but loves the c of o capsules!

Avatar m tn Pt. II -- Other ideas are chondrointon and glucosamine sulfate, which help some, don't help others. Some also find help by avoiding foods in the nightshade family. Lots of research to do.
798555 tn?1292787551 The best known are probably MSM, glucosamine, and chondroitin sulfates. There are natural anti-inflammatories, such as boswellia, proteolytic enzymes, devil's claw, ginger, turmeric, Chinese skullcap, and many others. If the magnesium is helping, that indicates muscle pain. Regular skullcap can be useful with this as well. Homeopathic arnica montana can help. Lots of stuff to try. Physical therapy or sports therapy can help if it's an injury or overwork problem.
2121656 tn?1395674749 Could be arthritis, maybe try glucosamine, or there's a product out there, Missing Link, that helps with the older dogs, and is a good supplement to start them out on when young. God bless you for giving her such a good life, and such excellent treatment. Remember, she is 12, and probably enjoys all that sleep. Wish you loads of luck.
5536886 tn?1455827346 I would look up reviews. I usually look at Amazon if its a product they carry because the reviews don't seem biased. Also there are alot of reviews and you can read the negative ones to see if their review seems valid. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Glucosamine isn't actually a pain medication - it's a "cartilage protector." It's great that you have your dog on this, but it won't actually help with the pain. It's used to chronically long term help with reducing osteoarthritis and protecting cartilage. Instead, I'd talk to your vet about getting your dog on a veterinary prescribed NSAID (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory). You SHOULD not give him anything OTC - these can be very toxic to your dog.
Avatar m tn anyone had any good reviews with thyroid-s? i recently heard of it from a user in here i gave it some resaech ad i was seeing alot of good reviews with made me a bit suspicious of it. if anyone has tried it can you please tell me how you felt with it if good ir bad. -thanks.
Avatar n tn We heard about this product on internet, we saw some positive reviews from their users as well. So, we order this product with lot of expectation, not a good time to judge this product as she just started, but of course she looks more relax and calm than before, now we are hoping for some best treatment from Menersa.
Avatar n tn I just had hysterectomy 7 weeks ago.
