glucosamine

Avatar m tn When nails are too long it can affect the whole gait, and yes, put strain on joints and ligaments. The best thing to do is not to ever let the nails get too long in future. The strain should ease up in a few days, and in the meantime, don't put him through any particularly strenuous, or athletic movements. Just gentle exercise, like walking. No agility, or leaping around if it can possibly be avoided. Then things SHOULD heal naturally, and get back to balance.
Avatar m tn Hi. Supplements to a dog's diet such as Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate, Omega Fatty Acids, Vitamin E, Selenium, and MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) all assist in decreasing inflammation and improving the body's ability to repair and strengthen tissues. Supplements, however, will not reverse structural changes in a joint such as torn cartilage, calcium deposits and advanced scar tissue.
689367 tn?1227469139 I have also been told that glucosamine (Joint supplements) is not good for your eyes and could elevate pressure. How true is that?
Avatar f tn I purchased some rather pricey vitamins which have no expiration dates. It's an individualized system where I'm to take Magnesium Glycinate, Glucosamine Sulfat, Joint Support, and CoQ10 30 mg in the morning packets and Magnesium Glycinat, Glucosamine Sulfat, Heart Formula, and Joint Support in the evening packets. Because these were so expensive I'd prefer to not throw them out; however, I've had them for over 3 years now. Since there is no date...can I still use them?
351404 tn?1299489130 Here in UK they are saying that calcium supplements double the risk of heart attack. Would glucosamine sulphate, currently taken by so many for healhy joints, be considered such a supplement? I can't ascertain whether these are two different supplements.
1110049 tn?1409402144 I have been doing this, but I am not sure it is doing any good. The worse pain is now in a thumb joint, and keeps me awake at night. AS small join t with a lot of pain? Is Glucosamine a placebo? Does it work? Well perhaps there is no scientific evidence for a lot of things, but that does not mean they don't work.
Avatar m tn But an analysis of studies looking at glucosamine or chondroitin for osteoarthritis in the hip or knee did not show that these supplements slow joint destruction or relieve pain. It's kind of gone by the wayside. It was found to not be the wonder supplement it was once thought to be. Multiple studies revealed that they will not help you more than a placebo. However there are still ppl that swear they help them.
1295500 tn?1272459927 Glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM are good supplements for maintaining joint health, but they are not curative substances. Your dog could be suffering anything from simple arthritis; to hip dysplasia; to a pulled muscle, tendon or ligament; to a ruptured spinal disc; a tumor or cyst in a bad place; or any number of other issues. She's obviously in pain, so get her to the vet as soon as possible.
Avatar n tn I have taken Glucosamine and chondroitin for joint pain and things seem to have improved overnight
Avatar m tn The only exception is tramadol which she takes rarely (had three prolapsed discs). She takes omega 3, and glucosamine with chondrotin. My mother had severe clinical depression and severe anxiety disorder and many other adverse health conditions. It all came back to nexium (acid blocker) which lowered her stomach acid.
Avatar n tn what supplements should i take for joint pain especiallly creaking neck pain would oils help ?cod liver oil?
Avatar n tn t do any harm is to start her on Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplements. This really works, and is completely natural. (if the arthritis is not TOO bad, the Glucosamine/Chondroitin can work wonders) You could ask your vet's advice about this, and about the correct dosage (I would give her the maximum for her weight.) But ask advice first.
Avatar n tn After discovering that my arthritis is linked to a 'stealth pathogen' (tiny mocroscopic organism) that became active after a surgery, it could be that the surgery exposed you to something - it may not necessarily be the implants. Now I know about it I'm taking supplements to kill the nasty pathogen and hope to be back to my mobile self very soon. Already feeling a lot better. good luck.
Avatar f tn I take anti-inflammatory (boswellia serrata, turmeric, sea buckthorn oil) supplements for pain and glucosamine with chondroitin for my joints. Juicing vegetables also helps.
Avatar n tn Hi, The basic steps in the treatment of hip arthritis are – reducing body weight , limiting motion , use of walking aids , physiotherapy , use of anti – inflammatory medications , and joint supplementsGlucosamine . Please consult an orthopaedic surgeon for the management plan .Surgery is the last resort if the above mentioned measures do not provide relief . Hope this helps you . Take care and regards !
Avatar n tn Just wondering if it is safe to take glucosamine chondriotin with my levothyroxin?
Avatar f tn I am looking for recommendations for a good joint supplement to help ease arthritis pain. Any suggestions would be welcome, just want him to be more comfortable.
Avatar m tn 5 pound schnauzer and has been limping a bit after exercise. I have started giving her 500 mg of glucosamine a day and wanted to know if this is the right dosage?
Avatar n tn My lab started limping really bad. I went to human vitamin store and got her some glucosamine supplements. I got the liquid flavored glucosamine and the glucosamine soft flavored chew. I know some cannot swallow pills. My dog eats the chews if I slightly warm them. She will not touch the liquid. I would rather put a pill in some meat or something. It is much easier for her to take. I put her back on a food with glucosamine and she isnt having any problems.
2187849 tn?1338068981 He does not sell it, so I buy online......It is packed with numerous joint support supplements......We have had very good luck with it.... However, the turning point for the ones with the most serious issues here has been Acupuncture for pain management.....Although my Holistic Vet is Certified in Homeopathic Medicine, he has never offered me any Homeopathic medicines for any of my dogs.......He is also certified in Chinese Herbal Medicine & that is what he normally prescribes......
Avatar m tn Hello ScalpMassager, Glucosamine and chondroitin are part of normal cartilage. Cartilage acts as a cushion between the bones in a joint. When these supplements first became available they were even suggested by physicians. Many people take glucosamine and chondroitin, alone or together, for osteoarthritis. Some people believe this helps - and I am delighted you are one of them.
Avatar m tn I'm not sure about what surgery odds are. Does your vet think that joint supplements, weight reduction maybe with a special food at first and then gradual excercise would help? I know things like glucosamine and missing link can be helpful. I also believe German shepherds are prone to hip dysplasia if I remember right. An orthopedic bed and keeping your dog sleeping indoors may also help.
