hi have a 14 yr patterdale/lakeland her joints are stiff and shaky i have been giving her adult glucosamine sulphate for a few months now but doesnt seem to be getting any better or worse should i increase the dose

Please does anyone know the dosage of Glucosamine Sulphate for dogs? How many milligrams per pound body weight? Also, is it ok to give my dog the regular Glucosamine (which people take) as it is so much cheaper to buy that at the supermarket, than to get it from the vet, or to buy dog treats which contain it! You hear that the dog has to have taken it for a few weeks for there to be any noticeable change, but I have found it can take effect quicker than that. Has anyone tried using n-acetyl glucosamine in conjunction with their normal insulin regamin (UCI study in August showed it might help)? My 10 year old type 1 diabetic son (diagnosed in 2002) has been taking 3 mg of n-acetyl glucosamine each day for 3 months, and we have seen a reduction in the amount of insulin he needs of about 10 % and a "evening out" of his blood sugars.
