Avatar n tn I hav taken Effexor Hcl 150 mg generic called Venlafaxine HCL ER Capsules 150mg, for years. A new doc wrote for the same medication in tablet form by mistake instead of the caps. Will it work the same for me?
Avatar n tn Ask him if he has a way of checking to see if your stomach does not produce enough hcl. He will probably have you buy some hcl capsules from him or from the healh food store and take it with meals. What you do is take 1 capsule with your meal. If you get no burning in your stomach, then the next meal you take 2 capsules. If you get no burning in your stomach, then with the next meal you take 3 capsules. And so on, until you get burning. Once you get burning, you cut back 1 capsule.
Avatar f tn He may not have the enzymes to utilize the Glucosamine like he did before the gastric tube. Glucosamine Hcl is cheaper and it is harder for the body to utilize than the higher quality Glucosamine sulfate. With that being said, Glucosamine sulfate is commonly use in people who have GI problems because it helps to protect the mucus membranes and heal injuried tissue. It is a very important supplement in IBS, Chrones disease, ulcers etc., I feel really bad for you and your dad.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, a balanced diet will not work if the First Stage of Digestion is not producing sufficient HCL (stomach acid ), to sterilize and emulsify the nutrients consumed. People with Hypochlorhydria or Achlorhydria cannot convert and absorb the nutrients consumed, because of the lack of HCL. There is little or no conversion of Protein into Amino acids without the presence of sufficient quantities of HCL.
Avatar f tn My own dog took this after a broken leg and it did her so much good. In damp weather she had started to favour that leg a little sometimes. As soon as she took the Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplement, it took about one week to see a great improvement. After that, she had no more trouble with that leg. She weighed 30lbs, and the correct maximum dosage for her was 500mg Glucosamine and 200mg Chondroitin once daily.
Avatar m tn I totally agree with Karla. Stop the Ibuprofen straight away. And a trip to the vet to get her arthritis managed is a good idea. Also, a Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplement might help her a lot. They certainly help my dog, I can vouch for that. She has been on them now for 2 years. She used to limp very slightly on a back leg which was once broken when she was younger.
Avatar n tn I just bought Osteo Bi-Flex with 5-Loxin advanced (Glucosamine, Chrondroitin, MSM, AKBA complex) at Walmart for my dogs. One dog weighs about 120lbs, and the other weighs about 65lbs. I need direction in knowing how many caplets to give to each of them daily. Very grateful.
558059 tn?1288550944 Hi I have a 8 1/2 year old GSPointer . On recent visit to vets I was advised to put her on Glucosamine & Chrondrotin . She has been on them for 6 weeks now but I haven't noticed any improvement in her general movements. Is it advisable to keep her on these tablets now that I have started. Also could cod liver oil be of benefit to her? She is not good at taking these tablets but loves the c of o capsules!
Avatar m tn While ginger is a good anti-inflammatory, by itself you probably won't notice anything. Most times ginger for arthritis will be standardized -- ginger tea, by cooking the ginger, destroys most of the anti-inflammatory effect, though it retains it's usefulness in combating nausea and motion sickness. A better anti-inflammatory is turmeric, and usually ginger will be found in formulas combining standardized ginger with standardized turmeric.
Avatar f tn In the meantime, you can try taking hcl capsules. Get them at the health food store. Pure hcl, no other digestive enzymes added. (Buy Omega Zyme by Garden of Life if you want to take a digestive enzyme with no hcl in it with your meals too) Take 1 cap of hcl with each meal. If you feel no stomach burning, take 2 with the next meal, if you feel no stomach burning, take 3 with the next meal and so on until your stomach burns a little. Once it does, go back one pill.
6669309 tn?1462648142 Arthritis is very common in older dogs and the longer dogs live the more common it is becoming. Nutritional supplements Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate are two substances that have fast become the standard treatment in canine age-related arthritis. These are often sold as a single combined substance in good pet shops and quality supermarkets. Alternatively, just look up "Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate for dogs" on Google and you should find a supplier.
Avatar m tn s bothersome, heat may help and there are over the counter anti-inflammatory salves you could try (anti-inflammatories are not good for our bodies in the long term and some people cannot tolerate them well anyway). Another over the counter supplement you might try would be glucosamine and chondroitin containing capsules.
Avatar f tn ve a couple of those and I found chondroitin + glucosamine capsules to provide invaluable relief (however, the swelling did not go down, and continuing vibration abuse re-awakens the pain symptoms).
Avatar n tn I now take 2 omeprazole a day, 4 domperidone--a motility drug, and a Zantac before bed. I have tried ginger capsules and all kinds of natural supplements, plus tums, etc. Any suggestions? I have had a bezoar when digestion just stopped, gall bladder out--infection in that. I feel like I have morning sickness all the time!
2121656 tn?1395674749 I have found that the human glucosamine supplements are quite a bit cheaper than the dog versions. One of the larger chain drug stores (I want to say CVS) has a bottle of I don't remember how many but it's at least a month's supply at one a day, and it was only $8 and change as opposed to the $30 or more that the dog supplements cost. And it's the same stuff! I had two different types, one was big horse pills and the other was capsules.
Avatar f tn i am on atenalol 25mg, aspirin 81mg, lipitor 40mg,prilosec 20mg, glucosamine complex, a multivitamin, and fish oil capsules. what would you recommend to raise this ef? please reply..thank you..
Avatar f tn ve visited gave me antiacid medication as well as gastro resistant capsules (omeprazole, lansoprazole, gaviscon, buscopan) and I never felt better, sometimes even worse. Last days the pain got really worse and I ended up in the hospital but they gave me only codeine and paracetamol and via my GP organized scan and endoscopy.
Avatar n tn When he first told me, I understood the chemistry he was teaching me, but his solution was to take about 6 HCL tablets with half of a glass of milk. SCARY! Here my throat and mouth were burning like hell and he wants me to put in lots of hydrochloric acid!!! Lots... to bring the pH back down to VERY ACIDIC like it is supposed to be. I didn't do it... too chicken, until one night the reflux was sooooo bad, I got up and took the 6 HCL tablets with 4 oz of milk..
Avatar m tn Also try consuming warm lemon water with pink Himalayan sea salt first thing in the morning and also through out the day which greatly helps with digestion. Other things to add include HCL capsules or HCL liquid to get the acid in your stomach going and ensure your food is properly digested as the acid will kill any bacteria that comes in contact. ACV has an effect in the stomach that helps it alkaline in which bacteria can't live.
Avatar f tn Its MSM Joint Formula with Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfates....comes in capsules so open the capsules ...mix the powder with a little water and give with a dropper. thats 300mg. I would divide it out so you are giving 1/3 of the capsule 3x a day. do not attempt to give a whole capsule to a kitty they are large capsules and need to be opened and divided out. heres is a link if you can't find Natural Factors locally....
Avatar m tn 5 pound schnauzer and has been limping a bit after exercise. I have started giving her 500 mg of glucosamine a day and wanted to know if this is the right dosage?
161647 tn?1280608163 The only thing I can think of was that my mom started taking Glucosamine last year. Can the Glucosamine affect eye vision. Or does anyone have any suggestions. My mom is worried that there is something seriously wrong because the doctor said the next step is too see a retina specialist. Thanks for any advise.
