Common Questions and Answers about Glucosamine hcl bromelain

glucosamine

Avatar n tn At any rate, there are so many remedies for joint inflammation -- MSM, chondroiton and glucosamine sulfate, proteolytic enzymes such as bromelain, quercitin, vitamin C, ginger, turmeric, boswellia, devil's claw, yucca -- I mean, the list is very long. Perhaps the best thing is to buy a good book on natural treatment of this problem since there are so many combinations of options to choose from.
1360851 tn?1277581906 I wouldn't, it's a very hot herb. Best bet is to buy the caps standardized for circumin. And it's best to combine things, no one thing is that strong naturally.
Avatar f tn He may not have the enzymes to utilize the Glucosamine like he did before the gastric tube. Glucosamine Hcl is cheaper and it is harder for the body to utilize than the higher quality Glucosamine sulfate. With that being said, Glucosamine sulfate is commonly use in people who have GI problems because it helps to protect the mucus membranes and heal injuried tissue. It is a very important supplement in IBS, Chrones disease, ulcers etc., I feel really bad for you and your dad.
Avatar f tn Hi. I have always been physically active and have never been overweight. There is no arthritis in my family and feel that for most of my life have eaten properly. I have arthritis in my hip.
Avatar m tn My own opinion is that glucosamine works best when combined with anti-inflammatories such as proteolytic enzymes. With me it's my knee and worn away discs. I also take a ginger circumin (tumeric) combo from Nature's Life and freeze dried nettles and a bromelain quercitin vitamin C combo both because I have allergies and as anti-inflammatories (anti-histamines are anti-inflammatories).
765775 tn?1366024691 And neither SAMe nor MSM is likely to work alone -- natural remedies usually have to be taken in combination for synergy to maximize results. A typical combination would be MSM, glucosamine and chondroitan sulphate, and anti-inflammatories such as bromelain, a protein-digesting enzyme, ginger and turmeric. See Prescriptions for Nutritional Healing for more detailed options.

Evening Primrose Oil (inflammation)
Bromelain (inflammation)
Vitamin C (boosts immune system)
Vitamin E (anti-oxidant, inflammation)
Eating fatty fish, such as salmon or sardines for their Omega-3 oils (inflammation)
White Willow Bark (inflammation)
Goldenseal (inflammation, cleansing, good for viral)

Avatar f tn Try an anti-arthritic diet and supplementing with glucosamine, msm and chondroitin for 3 months. Go by the recommended dosages and according to your weight. Also bromelain and boswella serata extract are great natural anti-flammatory agents. (bromelain is a PH regulator also, but should not be taken if on blood thinners) All the above will work much better than most prescribed meds, but their action -unlike meds-is very gradual, so don't expect major results right away.
1654177 tn?1319838494 I too have joint pain. I am 5 months post tx. I'll get it in my shoulders sometimes, in my feet, ankles, knees, wrists...all at different times of the day. It freaked me out at first because I was expecting to be "all better." I learned here to take Bromelain, so I've been doing that. I've been taking glucosamine for years (since HCV was already doing a number on my joints). I also learned here it can take up to a year for the sx to go away.
Avatar m tn 5 pound schnauzer and has been limping a bit after exercise. I have started giving her 500 mg of glucosamine a day and wanted to know if this is the right dosage?
161647 tn?1280608163 The only thing I can think of was that my mom started taking Glucosamine last year. Can the Glucosamine affect eye vision. Or does anyone have any suggestions. My mom is worried that there is something seriously wrong because the doctor said the next step is too see a retina specialist. Thanks for any advise.
Avatar n tn It could be swollen lymph nodes, but see a doctor if it continues. If you are really wanting an alternative therapy, bromelain with quercetin may help. These reduce pain and swelling, if you take enough (1000 mg of quercetin, 300 mg bromelain is good for me). Fresh pineapple is good too (bromelain is pineapple enzyme). Try 1000 mg of Lysine with this.
Avatar m tn s actually a combination of quercetin and bromelain enzyme. They work synergistically better together, than seperately. It's relatively inexpensive, but I have no idea if it would work for you. I would go ahead and try it if you are in pain. (And not allergic to pineapple. Bromelain is from pineapple.
1093971 tn?1257833640 Not all glucosamine products are created equal. In order to best evaluate a product, you need to consider several things. When your healthcare and joint discomfort is at stake, take a moment and consider these criteria: What form is the glucosamine in? What is the total daily dose? Are there any other ingredients? What type is the glucosamine? How pure are the ingredients? If you’re considering taking glucosamine with chondroitin you have another ballgame.
Avatar f tn I just recently started taking glucosamine and Chondroitin to help my knee recover from a dislocated patella. but for some reason my contact lenses have become very dry is that a side effect of the glucosamine??. I have used this type of soft contacts for a long time but never experienced this problem. Thanks.
Avatar m tn My dog weighed 28-30lbs and the correct dose for her was 500mg Glucosamine per day. The vet said the 'human' Glucosamine was fine to use, so long as the dosage was correct for the dog's weight. So it depends what your dog's weight is, how much you can increase the dose. As far as I can make out, dogs (and humans too) respond differently to Glucosamine. With some there are great results, and with some, not much improvement. You could mention this to your vet perhaps.
Avatar f tn So I read an article about canned pineapple and how it is safe to eat because the bromelain compound(the compound they say causes labor) isn't in canned pineapple. Only in fresh pineapple. I've been eating canned pineapple(in reasonable amounts) because it seems to help with my nausea and I've been craving it. Im a FTM and was wondering if canned pineapple was safe to eat. I called a nurse but they haven't contacted me back yet..
Avatar f tn My dog is 12 year old and has arthrits and the vet told me to use glucosamine. In the summer time he does not need it. Now my dog is whimpering and shakeing, when I pet him he stops. This started a couple of days ago. The weather got really cold fast and I just started him back on glucosamine. Does this sound like the arthrits acting up or do I need to worry? How much glucosamine can I give him? I hate when my dog is in pain, I have had him since I was in kindergarden.
Avatar n tn I have always fed them a really good food with the added glucosamine. I just recently changed foods to one without glucosamine. My lab started limping really bad. I went to human vitamin store and got her some glucosamine supplements. I got the liquid flavored glucosamine and the glucosamine soft flavored chew. I know some cannot swallow pills. My dog eats the chews if I slightly warm them. She will not touch the liquid. I would rather put a pill in some meat or something.
Avatar n tn ive been giving my dog which is 17kg 1000mg of glucosamine every day for a week which i will now reduce to 500mg a day is there any thing else i should give him with this or is glucosamine alone ok my dog has early signs of arthritis in his back legs its a bit of an effort for him to get up now he is 10 yrs 3mths old and had cruciate ligament surgery back in may last yr and in the other leg about 5 to 6 yrs ago
Avatar f tn There are herbs that don't affect the immune system -- most of them, in fact. I don't know this about quercitin. You might call the manufacturer of that product, Source Naturals. Or Nature's Life, which also makes a quercitin bromelain combination, the one I take because it's less expensive. Is it the quercitin or the bromelain you're worried about? Bromelain is a digestive enzyme that, when taken with meals, digests protein. Quercitin is a bioflavonoid.
675347 tn?1365460645 Please does anyone know the dosage of Glucosamine Sulphate for dogs? How many milligrams per pound body weight? Also, is it ok to give my dog the regular Glucosamine (which people take) as it is so much cheaper to buy that at the supermarket, than to get it from the vet, or to buy dog treats which contain it! Thanks for any help or suggestions, anyone. Ginger.
Avatar f tn Pineapple contains bromelain. Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme that breaks up proteins that inhibit embryo implantation. Consuming a whole pineapple (focusing on the core as it has the highest concentration of Bromelain) during a fertility cycle can be beneficial. For IVF [in vitro fertilization] cycle: one pineapple, divided into 5 portions - consume one portion each day, over five days, beginning on the day of your embryo transfer.
