Tbd I am a type 2 diabetic as well and Metformin upsets my stomach as well along with my cholesterol medication that I take in the evening.
Avatar n tn Currently taking glipizide for high blood sugar, but is causing side effects. Weight gain, extreme low blood sugar, restless sleep. What can I take instead that will not affect the liver?
Avatar n tn I concur with trolleater, call your husbands doctor for clarification and inform the doctor of your husbands discomfort with Glipizide. He/she should never changed medications w/o first informing your husband and explaining the reason why. I'm unsure on the dosage equivalency of Glipizide vs Glyburide. Both are in the same class of diabetes medications but Glipizide is short/rapid acting while Glyburide is slow/long acting.
Avatar f tn "How can I be sure all these medications will flow with the others." Make a list of all your meds, your dose, and time of day/eve taken. Include all supplements and vitamins and any OTC meds like aspirin. Take this list to your pharmacist and ask for a "consultation". Ask about drug interactions and contraindications. If you want at home reading documentation, ask for pharmaceuticals.
Avatar f tn In susceptible people, this can prolong the QT interval on the EKG and lead to ventricular tachycardia called torsade de points. There is a whole list of medications that can have similar effects: http://long-qt-syndrome.com/lqts_drugs.html http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=993 This is a relatively rare condition. Defibrillator discharges usually have nothing to due with QT intervals or medications.
647391 tn?1275016633 "Do you take Glipizide once a day? " Yes, usually around 5-6am. I eat breakfast 30-45 minutes later. "If so, what is your blood sugars at the end of day." <120 mg/dl "I think the glipizide helps, but doesn't last the day." Don't rely on medications to do all the work for you. There there to 'help' you. Do you exercise and break sweat for 60 minutes daily? Are you at normal body weight? Are you eating a proper diabetic diet?
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with congestive heart failure after a brief stay in the hospital (admitted from the ER with chest pains). I was given several tests, including an echocardiogram and a nuclear stress test.
1286779 tn?1400012806 I think Jaybay just gave you great advice. Lots of elderly have different side effects than the more common ones. Medications can easily interact and sometimes medications that have been fine for a long time all of a sudden aren't. A gerentologist probably is the best place to look for answers. When my mom was alive, we had a few kinks with her medications.

341655 tn?1240368839 I am taking medications for it...glipizide or some type of pill like that at noon time, I was just diagnosed. Last night right before bed it went from 80 to 45 within 30 minutes with symptoms of major sweating, nausea, etc.
Avatar m tn What kind of delusions are you suffering from? Are you on any other medications? I do not think what you are experiencing is a side effect of the Celexa....although I am not an MD, I have taken Celexa myself and read thuroughly on the known side effects. I would talk to a doctor immediately.
1495558 tn?1288805527 this does not sound like a normal reaction, and why, for heavens sake, if she is having these side effects, should she stay on it.
2053416 tn?1330411192 I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.
Avatar f tn Are there any diabetics taking treatment? One of side effects is elevated blood sugar . Can someone help!
Avatar n tn Are there any side effects to taking celexa, adderal, and xanax for bed time daily?
Avatar n tn Hair loss is sometimes a side effect of taking beta blockers. Not sure if there's a way to stop that other than changing medications. You have normal sinus rhythm but it's fast? How fast? If it's consistently over 100, you should talk to your cardio about that. It's not normal or healthy. Your meds may need to be adjusted.
909257 tn?1242668182 Pain medications have numerous side effects and those who do take pain meds on a regular basis do usually have some kind of depression due to the fact that they do have chronic pain but as far as the meds causing depression or bipolar no I do not believe so.
21064 tn?1309308733 Hi everyone! Thanks again for the responses on the medications thread. I think I may have given the wrong idea about side effects. Just to clarify, for this thread I'm looking for just the names of medications. MedHelp hopes to provide quick links to medications we want to know more about.
Avatar n tn I've noticed that after 3 months of daily prednisone that I have developed hair on my upper lip and jaw line. Has anyone else experienced side effects like this? I don't see how it will go away on it's own. How do you treat unwanted facial hair? This is quite upsetting to me. Thanks!
