I'm finishing week 42 of a 48 week tx. Do sx get worse the longer you are on tx. In the last few weeks, I've forgotten more,ate less,and am tired all of the time. The fatigue is the worst thing. I sleep all of the time. It's hard for the husband because he is alone all the time. Heck even my cats wait outside my door. I don't let them in often because I want to sleep and they want love. I give them a lot when I'm up.

Currently taking glipizide for high blood sugar, but is causing side effects. Weight gain, extreme low blood sugar, restless sleep. What can I take instead that will not affect the liver?

I am a type 2 diabetic as well and Metformin upsets my stomach as well along with my cholesterol medication that I take in the evening.

m unsure on the dosage equivalency of Glipizide vs Glyburide. Both are in the same class of diabetes medications but Glipizide is short/rapid acting while Glyburide is slow/long acting. If your husbands fasting blood sugar levels are elevating it may be the reason for the change.

Are there any diabetics taking treatment? One of side effects is elevated blood sugar . Can someone help!

glipizide is in the Sulfonylurea class of drugs. Sulfonylurea drugs work by forcing the pancreas to make more insulin, insulin lowers BG. So if you dont eat and continue to take glipizide you run the risk of getting hypos. I say the risk as it depends what your BG is and how much glipizide lowers your BG. If you are on glipizide you should have a BG test meter to check your BG. So test to see how your BG is doing.

Pancreatitis is nothing to fool with. Now since I posted my question I decreased my dose to once a day in the morning of glipizide and I immediately lost weight the next day. And I have lost .4 every a day doing this, so it does cause weight gain, but works well on my sugars and does not make me sick like every drug I've tried. I could cut it as long as I'm being good with my excercise, and low carb diet. I know how to lose weight, I've lost 30lbs last year.

I also take 500mg metformin after a meal(breakfast and dinner) and was advised to take 5mg glipizide before meals (breakfast and lunch) but sometimes I measure my bs before and notice it's sometimes 70-90 . A little about me: I don't eat at regular intervals, I don't snack , I have 3 meals a day . Wake up at 530 go to work, eat breakfast at 9 and then my lunch around 12 , dinner between 5-630. I was just recently prescribed neurontin 100mg three times daily for fibromyalgia.. It's working well, buy is making me so sleepy and a bit hungry. Will those effects wear off in time? And is there anything else anyone has to say about the use of neurontin? good or bad?

I posted on Tuesday about my cat charlie we took her to the vet this morning and she has some kitty Asthma, so for the next month and a half she will be taking Prednazone, I got overwhelmed and had not yet had coffee and neglected to ask about things to watch for/ be aware of; side effects, reactions Ect. The benefits do outweigh the risks in most cases if used appropriately. I really do recommend that you have a chest X-Ray if asthma is suspected. I also recommend that you follow your vets advise.

Triamcinolone is a steroid which does have side effects, vomiting being a very common one. San Ren Tang is an herb with only anecdotal info on it's effectiveness. It is generally used for digestive issues (constipation, diarrhea, bloating, etc. Have you gotten back to your vet to tell him about the vomiting? He may be able to prescribe a different steroid or change the dosage to alleviate the vomiting or prescribe an additional medication/diet to alleviate the vomiting.

Hello.........you are not alone...I have been having effects of metformin and glipizide since May 27, 2015. I am going into the clinic tomorrow. My pharmacist said "oh there is a bug going around". This is clearly not a bug this is either the meds are in too warm of a temperature and not being as effective or I've got another kidney infection. Been up with abdominal pain, bloating, gas ..just can't get comfortable and my numbers are not coming down as fast as they were.
