Avatar f tn Hi, I recently went on glipizide after a very bad reaction to victoza. I was losing weight, but now the glipizide is keeping me at the same weight. Has anyone had the experience that is the same? and is there a lower does that anyone has still been able to lose weight with? and yes I'm on a low carb diet and excercise plan. I'm doing better with this than I did before and I lost 33 pounds. It's the glipizide.
Avatar f tn For example, pre-walk BG was 90, post-walk BG was 102, 60 minutes later BG was 202! I freaked out, took a glipizide (which I rarely use anymore), and watched my BG go down rapidly to 100 within the hour. Why does this happen? How do I manage pre/post exercise?
647391 tn?1275016633 "Do you take Glipizide once a day? " Yes, usually around 5-6am. I eat breakfast 30-45 minutes later. "If so, what is your blood sugars at the end of day." <120 mg/dl "I think the glipizide helps, but doesn't last the day." Don't rely on medications to do all the work for you. There there to 'help' you. Do you exercise and break sweat for 60 minutes daily? Are you at normal body weight? Are you eating a proper diabetic diet?
Avatar n tn I also take 500mg metformin after a meal(breakfast and dinner) and was advised to take 5mg glipizide before meals (breakfast and lunch) but sometimes I measure my bs before and notice it's sometimes 70-90 . A little about me: I don't eat at regular intervals, I don't snack , I have 3 meals a day . Wake up at 530 go to work, eat breakfast at 9 and then my lunch around 12 , dinner between 5-630. No snacks. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Avatar n tn The Gastroenterologist recommended Liver Biopsy to check for liver damage. This is a scary procedure and I wanted to know if there are other alternative procedure/processes. Also, is there something I can do or treaments I can receive to treat this problem. I weight 122 lbs, and 5'4 tall. I take Glucophage XR, Januvia, Glipizide ER, Avapro (to prevent kidney damage, not hypertensive), Calcium with Vit D, Fish oil, Loratidine (hives as needed) and Zantac.
553878 tn?1226507294 Got out of bed one morning and decided to get some blue superman pills. Found out had diabetes put on Glipizide. Developed high level of anxiety that doc attributed to suger spikes and rx'd Celexa. All right with the world and everywhere else. Follow up blood tests showed raised liver levels. Just got back biopsy pathology report. I'm 1b, grade 2/4, stage 3/4 with bridging fibosis. Liver measures 21cm. Kidney enlarged to 15.6cm.
4117735 tn?1349962369 Is it OK to double, or tipple, your medication? I take Glipizide 10 mg. The reason asked is that I have been monitoring my glucose and it has been between 200 - 300, and I would like to lower my readings.
Avatar n tn I took metformin 500mg twice a day, then 1000mg twice a day, then added glipizide 5mg twice a day, then glipizide 10mg twice a day, now have added Levemir injectable at night. This all occurred since 2003.
2053416 tn?1330411192 I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.
Avatar n tn am now taking glipizide 5 mg along with colestipol 1gr twice daily and gabapentin 300mg 3 times daily and my blood sugar levels are staying high. Avatar m tn That happened to me with metformin and my doctor switched me to glipizide. Now my numbers are going in the right direction. I think you need to complain to your doctor and find what works for you.
Avatar m tn He also has controlled asthma -- hardly ever uses inhalers or other meds for it. Has diabetes 2 controlled by metformin and glipizide. He's on Plavix, Toprol, ramipril and lipitor for heart maintenance. He also takes niacin. For the last three years, ever since his heart attack, he has had blood work done every three months. It always comes back the same. His HGB ranges from 18 -- 19, his HCT from 53% to 58%, his RBC 6.3 to 6.5.
Avatar n tn I'm a novice when it comes to diabetes so I could use some help. I'm on 2.5mg of Glipizide and have been for about four years. My doctor discourages blood glucose testings -- says that's only necessary if I were on insulin. However, I will occasionally check my blood sugar -- maybe once or twice a month or if I'm not feeling well. I checked it on Sunday and found it was running somewhat high.
Avatar f tn Hello.........you are not alone...I have been having effects of metformin and glipizide since May 27, 2015. I am going into the clinic tomorrow. My pharmacist said "oh there is a bug going around". This is clearly not a bug this is either the meds are in too warm of a temperature and not being as effective or I've got another kidney infection. Been up with abdominal pain, bloating, gas ..just can't get comfortable and my numbers are not coming down as fast as they were.
Avatar m tn Last September I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I started taking Glipizide 5mg in the am along with meds for blood pressure. I also made major life style changes. I exercise an hour a day five days a week now. I eat extremely heathy. I lost 30 lbs. I'm sleeping again. I changed jobs. I'm still very overweight, but all my numbers are now in the normal range or close to it.
