Avatar f tn Consider reading Blood Sugar 101 online or another basic diabetes book. Diabetes education classes are also good IF they give you up to date information which is not always the case. There are many websites and much information online written by people who are successfully managing their diabetes. Remaining consistently over 250 is very dangerous and can lead to complications.
2053416 tn?1330411192 I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.

Avatar m tn Last September I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I started taking Glipizide 5mg in the am along with meds for blood pressure. I also made major life style changes. I exercise an hour a day five days a week now. I eat extremely heathy. I lost 30 lbs. I'm sleeping again. I changed jobs. I'm still very overweight, but all my numbers are now in the normal range or close to it.
Avatar f tn can the medication Glipizide for diabetes interfere with the orasure test results? can anyone seroconvert after 14 weeks?
Avatar n tn I'm a novice when it comes to diabetes so I could use some help. I'm on 2.5mg of Glipizide and have been for about four years. My doctor discourages blood glucose testings -- says that's only necessary if I were on insulin. However, I will occasionally check my blood sugar -- maybe once or twice a month or if I'm not feeling well. I checked it on Sunday and found it was running somewhat high.
Avatar n tn Thanks. I think I'm in the market for a new doctor.

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a year prior to HCV. I've used metformin, glipizide and actos (pioglitizone) for eight years now for DM2 management; including during both HCV treatments. I was eventually successful with interferon therapy, for what it's worth. I can't comment on the victoza; I have no personal experience with it. Reducing insulin resistance might be critical to succesful inteferon-based therapy as well.
Avatar f tn One of the most important factors for controlling or even potentially reversing Chronic Kidney Disease, if it is caused by diabetes, is to have excellent control of blood sugar. So questions are: 1. What is your Hba1c. A normal hba1c is < 5.0. If you want to control your diabetes well you should be aiming for an hba1c as close to 5 as you can safely manage. 2. Are you monitoring your blood sugars? What is your typical fasting and post eating numbers?

Avatar f tn Eventually I went on 1000mg twice a day Janumet, and 2.5XL Glipizide, it worked for a while. I recently gained 8 lbs. but not sure it was the glipizide. On my second day of Victoza, so far ok. Interested to hear what kind of reaction you had to Victoza.
Avatar f tn t work for me and I was put on Glipizide. We are monitoring that for now to see if it is more successful in keeping the blood sugar in line. I have begun a structured exercise program at a gym, which should help tremendously in controlling the sugar level combined with a healthy diet. Hang in there and be sure to always consult your doctor before making any changes.
Avatar n tn Recovery is minimal ,discomfort for the first two days. Then the waiting begins for results. Unvortunatelly they found out to late for me I have Cryptogenic liver disease. Which went unnoticed for many years.
Avatar n tn I have recently been prescribed Metformin for type 2 diabetes and have gone from 500 mg to 1,500 mg per day. A1C and glucose is worsening despite higher dose and strict diet, exercise. Avatar f tn My husband has adult type 2 diabetes. I took him to the hospital on friday night with an outer and inner ear infection. While there his blood sugar was in the 400s. It was brought down befor we left. I was told to keep a close eye on his levels and to follow up with his primary doctor. The soonest they can see him is the 8th. He just checked and his blood sugar is 452. He took his meds. (metformin and glipizide) What can we do? Should we go to the hospital?

Avatar f tn thank you for all your information. i've already started most of what you all have suggested. i have lost 10 lbs in the last 4 months by cutting out rice, breads and pasta. my average carb intake is arounf 40-48 per meal leaving my last meal of the day mostly meat and veggies with low carbs. my heavy meal is lunch at work and i usually fix my lunch myself so that i can control the carbs. i have taken a class at the hospital for diabetes.
