is glipizide 10mg the same as glyburide 5mg / because my husband was drinking the gyburide and when we went for the new prescription it had changed to glipizide and he hasn't felt good since the change do i call his doctor

Hi, I recently went on glipizide after a very bad reaction to victoza. I was losing weight, but now the glipizide is keeping me at the same weight. Has anyone had the experience that is the same? and is there a lower does that anyone has still been able to lose weight with? and yes I'm on a low carb diet and excercise plan. I'm doing better with this than I did before and I lost 33 pounds. It's the glipizide.

Is it OK to double, or tipple, your medication? I take Glipizide 10 mg. The reason asked is that I have been monitoring my glucose and it has been between 200 - 300, and I would like to lower my readings.

The third day that I took .30mg of thyroid tab, I had a severe reaction. The top of my head felt like it was going to explode, Pressure behind my eyes, chills, heart racing and throat swelling. I was lucky I had prednisone to take or I would have ended up in the ER. I haven't went back to my Dr. yet because I am afraid to take any thyroid medication. This was a very scary experience.

I am not sure if the two are related, the diarrhea and new dose of medication. Perhaps if you get the diarrhea under control, the new dose and slow release tab will again be a viable option for you. Anyway, keep us posted on it!

I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.

I have elevated liver enzymes due to hepatic adenoma. Currently taking glipizide for high blood sugar, but is causing side effects. Weight gain, extreme low blood sugar, restless sleep. What can I take instead that will not affect the liver?

am now taking glipizide 5 mg along with colestipol 1gr twice daily and gabapentin 300mg 3 times daily and my blood sugar levels are staying high. First time on all these meds and my sugar levels were fine on lisonpril. Could one of thse being causing the high readings. My diet is the same if not lower in sugar and calories.

Last night I took 500mg depakote er while cutting the second one I take into just 250mg. I need to get up early now for school and I couldn't get up recently. This seems to be the equivalent of 500 er and 250 regular release. I feel brighter, more alert. What side effects and worries should I have?

That happened to me with metformin and my doctor switched me to glipizide. Now my numbers are going in the right direction. I think you need to complain to your doctor and find what works for you.

After another 3-4 days, cut your middle dose in 1/2. So you take a full tab in the morn, 1/2 tab after work, and 1/2 tab at bedtime. continue this for 3-4 days. If you prefer, you can take a full tab in the morning and full tab at EITHER bedtime or after work. Continue tapering until you are done. If you must when you get down to 1/2 a tab daily, cut it into 1/4 and take it twice a day. You'll just need to listen to your body....not your mind.
