647391 tn?1275016633 I routinely have blood sugars in the 150 range my A!C has been 7.7 and 8.2. I was suppose to have some foot surgery, but it was cancel because of the A1c. It is the 1st time I was told I couldn't have surgery because of the diabetes. My regular doctor signed off on me having surgery. The foot surgeon wouldn't do it. I just didn't think my blood sugar level was of any concern.
Avatar f tn Eventually I went on 1000mg twice a day Janumet, and 2.5XL Glipizide, it worked for a while. I recently gained 8 lbs. but not sure it was the glipizide. On my second day of Victoza, so far ok. Interested to hear what kind of reaction you had to Victoza.
Avatar f tn It sure sounds to me that you have another blockage, I'd encourage you to have it checked out as soon as possible. I've had the same frustration as you are experiencing, I've had eight stents in the past seven years. Much of the research trying to discredit stent successes comes from research sponsored from drug companies, please keep that in mind. It is not cut and dried as EchoJames claims, I've read all the research he is refering to carefully.
341655 tn?1240368839 m a 22 year old with steroid induced diabetes and my blood sugar has been in the lows of 42-60, I ate and had some glucose gel which brought it into the 80's but about an hour later it dropped again to 42 where I had symptoms of extreme hunger, shakiness, heaviness in my legs and sweating. I'm worried its going to crash into the night and I could go into a diabetic coma during sleep, if thats possible?
Avatar n tn is glipizide 10mg the same as glyburide 5mg / because my husband was drinking the gyburide and when we went for the new prescription it had changed to glipizide and he hasn't felt good since the change do i call his doctor
Avatar n tn Yes, I know that Toprol XL is the brand name extended release version of metoprolol. However, there is a generic equivalent called metoprolol er, which I assume his doctor gave him. I have read many posts on this forum where users indicate that switching from Toprol XL to metoprolol er still report having problems. The generics are not always as good as the brand name ones.
Avatar f tn I am a type 2 diabetic and I concerned about fasting (religious) and taking glipizide. I have been on metformin for over 14 years and have had to recently add glucotrol to my regimen. I do not have any low blood sugar symptoms at all and I am scared of the time I have to restrain from eating. Is any one else ever dealt with this?
214864 tn?1229715239 com report, consumers have experienced increased blood pressure, increased heart rate and ectopic beats, as well as side effects such as nausea, dizziness and headaches when switched from Toprol XL to Metoprolol Succinate ER. ConsumerLab.com noted that the Sandoz formulation of the product is different from Toprol XL and dissolves in a different manner.
Avatar n tn I also take 500mg metformin after a meal(breakfast and dinner) and was advised to take 5mg glipizide before meals (breakfast and lunch) but sometimes I measure my bs before and notice it's sometimes 70-90 . A little about me: I don't eat at regular intervals, I don't snack , I have 3 meals a day . Wake up at 530 go to work, eat breakfast at 9 and then my lunch around 12 , dinner between 5-630. No snacks. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Avatar m tn Is it anxiety related asthma? How long has it been going on, and did the ER doc give you any direction or pointers? Who manages your asthma? Do you get inhalers for it or see a pulmonarist? It os common for people with asthma to have an anxiety/panic component to their asthma besides emvironmental triggers. usually, you get taught how to breathe during a panic/anxiety when the asthma happens. inhalers and steroids can make you nervous and jittery..
Avatar n tn m going to have to disagree here and say get to the ER asap. Hard tissue and that much swelling with a kidney stone over 4mm usually means a blockage. With diabetes that could be deadly. I hope you get him in soon. Good Luck.
2053416 tn?1330411192 Due to a lot of weight gain. My doctor took me off actos and put me on glumetza. I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.
4117735 tn?1349962369 The reason asked is that I have been monitoring my glucose and it has been between 200 - 300, and I would like to lower my readings.
Avatar f tn To make a long story short, I'm 63 yr. female with 2 previous MI 1996, 2002, with a full metal jacket in RCA, 3 stents in "96 and 2 more in'02. I'm also diabetic, on Lantus and Glipizide. My problem is that although I have lost 30 lbs, brought my chol.
Avatar n tn a day before the surgery along with Zocor to control cholesterol. I am now on Plavix, Toprol XL, Zocor and Benicar. My blood pressure has been low, in the range of 90/60 since the surgery but the cardiologist wants me to continue the Benicar. He said it's "good for the heart". Has anyone ever heard of this before? My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP. Also, I have been feeling very down and blue a lot of the time.
Avatar n tn i have graves diseas and i take toprol xl 10mg for tachycardia. i recently was awakened by severe chest pains and continued until i saw my endocronoligist which was 6 hrs. they did an EKG & it was bradycardia @ 45 bpm and my blood pressure @ 90/50. I was sent to ER & admitted to 23 observation. they did a stress test, chest Xray, blood work (troponin levels), d-dimer and all came back normal & was then discharged with heart rate @ 46..blood pressure @ 83/46 and chest pains..
Avatar f tn I take 50mg of Metoprolol ER (generic) and I am left with approx. 24,000 PACs or PVCs a day - went as high as 38,000 per day without medication as checked with a Holter monitor. The difference here might be that my heart rate at rest rarely goes beyond 65BPM and I can only tell them by their arrhythmic occurrence.
Avatar n tn I, too, take Toprol XL as well as meds for depression and anxiety and have just learned about these problems with it.
Avatar f tn My pharmacacy switched my "Toprol XL 50 mg" to a Generic one called "Metoprolol Succinate ER 50 mg" (manufactured by Sandoz) in December 2007. I have been on some form of Beta Blockers for years and I thought nothing of it. Within a week I was at my eye doctor because my left eye went from 20/20 to 20/60 and was so blurry that I felt like I had suntan lotion or something in it. Since then I have been to so many doctors because things just kept getting worse.
Avatar n tn She has had elevated cholesterol but has taken Lipitor for years and it is well-controlled. Her cardiologist increased her Toprol XL fr/25 mg/d to 25 mg BID, which had some transient positive effect that lasted ~2d b/f degrading back to pre-increase frequency. She asked her cardio about an EP study, but he's opted to cath her instead. Would a less invasive procedure such as a stress test or cardiac CT be reasonable b/f cath?
Avatar m tn When I weaned off it it took about a year for my body to totally adjust. I was having svt all the time and runs and a really low pulse and bp. So I think it can take a while for your body to adjust. My pulse was alos dropping in the 30's-40's being on it and off it. I'm so glad ai don't take any bb any more they made me feel horrible.
Avatar f tn My Dr has been upping my meds. I did ok on effexor xl 150mg and lamtical 100 for 2 weeks and then crashed really bad. So my dr upped my effexor to 225 mg and for 2 weeks felt normal for the first time in a year it was a relief. Then I had a international gift show to work, this was working 12 hour days for a week and then I started my period. Then I had to leave this job and go on a family vacation the very day. I've been having anxiety and bouts of depression.
Avatar f tn 4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.
