647391 tn?1275016633 I routinely have blood sugars in the 150 range my A!C has been 7.7 and 8.2. I was suppose to have some foot surgery, but it was cancel because of the A1c. It is the 1st time I was told I couldn't have surgery because of the diabetes. My regular doctor signed off on me having surgery. The foot surgeon wouldn't do it. I just didn't think my blood sugar level was of any concern.
Avatar f tn Eventually I went on 1000mg twice a day Janumet, and 2.5XL Glipizide, it worked for a while. I recently gained 8 lbs. but not sure it was the glipizide. On my second day of Victoza, so far ok. Interested to hear what kind of reaction you had to Victoza.
Avatar n tn is glipizide 10mg the same as glyburide 5mg / because my husband was drinking the gyburide and when we went for the new prescription it had changed to glipizide and he hasn't felt good since the change do i call his doctor
Avatar f tn I am a type 2 diabetic and I concerned about fasting (religious) and taking glipizide. I have been on metformin for over 14 years and have had to recently add glucotrol to my regimen. I do not have any low blood sugar symptoms at all and I am scared of the time I have to restrain from eating. Is any one else ever dealt with this?
Avatar n tn I also take 500mg metformin after a meal(breakfast and dinner) and was advised to take 5mg glipizide before meals (breakfast and lunch) but sometimes I measure my bs before and notice it's sometimes 70-90 . A little about me: I don't eat at regular intervals, I don't snack , I have 3 meals a day . Wake up at 530 go to work, eat breakfast at 9 and then my lunch around 12 , dinner between 5-630. No snacks. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
2053416 tn?1330411192 Due to a lot of weight gain. My doctor took me off actos and put me on glumetza. I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.
Avatar f tn asprin 81 mil, glipizide 2.5 (for diabetes sugar), Heart meds (coumadin -for mechical valves, lasix 20 mg, metoprolol 75m (beta blocker), amiodarone/cardavone 200mg, spironductne - 12.5 m) I'm not sure what all these are for...he does have a pacemaker/difib device that was put in mid-july. My question is 2 fold: Is it typical to see a worse EF after procedures designed to help? Is there a problem with his meds?
4117735 tn?1349962369 The reason asked is that I have been monitoring my glucose and it has been between 200 - 300, and I would like to lower my readings.
Avatar m tn The antibiotic dose needs to be adjusted for patients on dialysis. He should avoid eating outside and should take proper precautions with the fluids consumed. If he is aware of a medicine or food that’s causing the diarrhea, then avoid it. Further avoid foods like milk and milk products, high fat or greasy food, foods that have a lot of fiber like citrus fruits and very sweet foods, such as cakes and sweets. So, take proper precautions to avoid infections and keep him hydrated.
Avatar f tn ve had 3 kidney transplants since the age of 19 (lost them @ 16 from Strep) and am currently on dialysis waiting for #4. The machine takes over kidney function. And after a while, because of fluid restrictions and/or continued damage to the kidneys, what fluid one has on board is removed by the dialysis leaving nothing for the badder to take in (and let out). I was still going after a couple of years on Peritoneal Dialysis (solution in my abdomen cycled in & out while I sleep).
Avatar f tn Does she like to read, watch tv, play games, etc? All of these things can be done during dialysis and seem to make the time pass faster. There is a variation of dialysis that "might" help. If someone was to train to give home hemodialysis, then the amount of time per day could possibly be cut down to 2 hours. Of course she would have to do it everyday, intstead of 3 days a week.
Avatar m tn It will not take cancer out, I am sorry, I wondered about it one time too. My sister has been a dialysis Rn for 35 years. Dialysis patients have almost as bad trouble with it, as we do chemo. They have to have the shots for their red blood counts and all that. I wish I could tell you it worked for cancer.I hope your mom feels better soon.
341655 tn?1240368839 m a 22 year old with steroid induced diabetes and my blood sugar has been in the lows of 42-60, I ate and had some glucose gel which brought it into the 80's but about an hour later it dropped again to 42 where I had symptoms of extreme hunger, shakiness, heaviness in my legs and sweating. I'm worried its going to crash into the night and I could go into a diabetic coma during sleep, if thats possible?
Avatar f tn I am on 3 tablets a day of each of Glipizide (5mg) and Metformin (500mg). I take the Glipizide equally spaced out during the day but the Metformin one at lunchtime and two with my evening meal as instructed.
Avatar n tn am now taking glipizide 5 mg along with colestipol 1gr twice daily and gabapentin 300mg 3 times daily and my blood sugar levels are staying high. First time on all these meds and my sugar levels were fine on lisonpril. Could one of thse being causing the high readings. My diet is the same if not lower in sugar and calories.
Avatar n tn I have elevated liver enzymes due to hepatic adenoma. Currently taking glipizide for high blood sugar, but is causing side effects. Weight gain, extreme low blood sugar, restless sleep. What can I take instead that will not affect the liver?
220090 tn?1379167187 It was explained to me similarly a couple of years ago when I made inquiries into Epo use and associated cancer risks: that limited data was indeed skewed by the population analyzed. Since then, some interesting data has emerged via the other "large body of non-cancer patients" being administered epo: the chronic kidney disease population suffering with anemia.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a year prior to HCV. I've used metformin, glipizide and actos (pioglitizone) for eight years now for DM2 management; including during both HCV treatments. I was eventually successful with interferon therapy, for what it's worth. I can't comment on the victoza; I have no personal experience with it. Reducing insulin resistance might be critical to succesful inteferon-based therapy as well.

Avatar m tn That happened to me with metformin and my doctor switched me to glipizide. Now my numbers are going in the right direction. I think you need to complain to your doctor and find what works for you.
Avatar f tn Hi, My dad (78 years old) is on dialysis since last year due to kidney failure, on top of that he has a Coronary Heart Disease since 2000, so he is on meds. He does 3x a week then reduce to 2x week dialysis. Since last July of this year my dad has been experiencing too much weakness than normal. He can barely walk anymore. Then, he started having too low BP after each dialysis to the point that he passes out & sometimes get stiff.
