Hi, I don't know the answer -- but since both CML and Gleevec toxicity produce anemia because of marrow suppression, maybe it's not possible to tell the difference. E.g., both would show a low reticulocyte count.
This full text paper on anemia from Gleevec https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/ajh.23879 shows that other signs such as red blood cell size can vary, so that doesn't seem to help. Sorry.
I was diagnosed with CML and given Gleevec 400 ml. After taking gleevec for 2 weeks doctor took additional blood test. My WBC dropped from 36.5 to 7.1 and all other blood counts came down to normal range. I'm wondering if gleevec could give such fast hematological response or I was possibly misdiagnosed originally. I don't and didn't have any symptoms, my spleen and liver weren't enlarged, no enlarged lymph. Should I get second opinion asap? Please, help me.
I went to ER and they put me in intensive care and said it was Mastocytosis. However when i moved from Atlanta they insisted on a bone biopsy that said no to Mastocytosis. All my Atlanta drs said Mastocytosis explained everything including my reoccurring pericarditis. So if its not Mastocytosis, what is it. They offered nothing here in Chattanooga, so I dont know what is wrong with me.
t want to see me, that fever was not from gleevec, and that I needed to monitor myself by myself by simply taken ibuprofen. This is what I did all last week and only this Monday he did a blood work.

I was diagnosed last year and was immediatley put on gleevec 400mg/day.At my last consult my metabolic stats had risen,hence blood tests to determine if the gleevec is no longer working.I am still in firstphase and wonder what my options are if the gleevec is no longer an option.Amin pretty good form,just very tired and a lot of bone pain.

I have CML and was treated with Gleevec for 4 years and achieved remission. I have for the past several months been experiencing sudden onset of weakness which last for hours, to days. My blood pressure which has remained under control for several years with atenolol has been running 145/105 and higher for the past three to four months. I have a feeling of fullness in my stomach, and I have sporatic episodes of mild coughing, this occurs maybe once a week.

She stated that non sclerotic may suggest that the lesions were not benign and is sending her to a pediatric orthopedic doctor. 2 months ago, I had a severe reaction to almonds. I am 38 and this has never happened before. I actually went into anaphelactic shock. We found a local allergist to treat his allergies- he has my husband taking zyrtec and singulair and my husband uses flonase and carries albutarol for his diagnosed asthma.
Since those visits to the ER 7 years ago my husband has had subsequent problems. His food allergies have become much worse. He has a very short list of foods that do not cause offense to his system, and he has suffered with a severe attack of Ulcerative Collitis and now sees a Gastroenterologist, who has him on Asacol.
i get my heart checked every 2 weeks now and i am fine with the qt thing. i take the chemo pill called gleevec and have to force myself to eat so i dont get sick when i take it. how long will these withdrawel problems go on? i have xanax to take (1mg) but dont work to good. i should would appreciate any advice from any one on how to deal with these issues, family dr says its anxiety but i think its the withdrawels from the high dose of elavil.
Jan-March - continued to have symptoms of allergies that affected my throat and neck area with a burning sensation and constant redness. I did an extended fast with only water and fruit juices and that helped.
May 2012 - had another milder reaction with a swelling of my feet while at the beach in Oregon. I took Benedryl and that helped. Began to worry I was allergic to the beach.
July 4, 2012 - Had another reaction with the swelling of my feet...this time not near the beach.

s over a year now since my post and your reply. I was just browsing and thought I would give an update on my daughter. It took a long while but my daughter has now been diagnosed with mastocytosis. Which type is still unclear at the moment but at least we now know what was causing her symptoms and can treat her appropriately for it.

I am sorry that you are experiencing these symptoms. I know it can be frustrating and downright scary when no one seems to have an answer. I am responding because I too suffer from extreme fatigue/sleepiness, neck pain, memory loss, fogginess, inability to handle stress and can't handle too much stimulus. I take Hemocyte-plus for anemia and Synthroid for hypothyroidism. I have recently been diagnosed with systemic mastocytosis.
