I've been taking tamsulosin for 3 or 4 years now after my urologist prescribed it for BPH. I've slowly started having leakage issues lately where I will have a strong sudden urge to urinate and have a difficult time holding it until I can get to a toilet. Sometimes some urine leaks out and other times the urge will pass and I can wait before racing to the toilet.
I am using Flowmax (Tamsulosin) for about 3 months for enlarged prostate. I started noticing my Testicles hang lower now and not tight anymore since I have been using this medication.. Could this be from the use of Tamsulosin?
So now to my question, the urologist wants me to take two medications - generic names are tamsulosin 0.4mg and meloxicam 15mg. These were perscribed in place of Flomax and Celebrex in the hopes of reducing the inflammation and opening the neck of the bladder to release the urine now being held in my bladder. Should I take these meds even though the Flomax (tamsulosin) is not approved for women? Also considering my past medical history Im scared to take either meds, should I?
Having done some research before recieving your reply, I did come across information regarding the use of tamsulosin, also known as Flomax, being used for orgasmic pain. The only problem is if you are on Viagra therapy you cannot take Flomax because of the interactions. Our family doctor told my husband as long as he could handle urinating a lot he shouldn't take meds like Tamsulosin which he is now on. Obviously, it was very bad information. His bladder is now so tight and will not expand as it should any longer that he also can't hold much urine to begin with. Some doctors should not be in medicine. There is nothing that can be done for him now.
Calcium is my basic problem with forming numerous stones too. Over the past 30 plus years I have tried drinking the lemon water too and it didn't help one little bit. Also tried cranberry juice with the same result. What I have been doing and it has helped a bunch so far is NOT drinking tap water and only drinking bottled water. Flomax can cause "floppy iris syndrome" (FIS). A small percentage of people on Flomax and a much much smaller % of people that were on Flomax in the past but not on it now have FIS. FIS can make surgery, usually cataract, more difficult as the pupil does not stay dilated. However FIS is now widely recognized and special techniques have been devised to deal with the floppy, contracting iris.
