No, duh. Margot. I've had dogs for 60 years and know a little something about them. I recently got ripped off by a vet and didn't feel to be had again. Of course, if I had the money, I would have called the vet, who would have told me to bring my dog in and then run expensive tests and then told me what I already knew and then prescribed a vet formulation of flexeril that is identical to human.
So, if you do not have GI bleeding or an ulcer, you may want to ask your doctor about other NSAIDS. Mobic (the generic name is meloxicam) is a great alternative, because it is generic and has less GI/ulcer problems than most of the NSAIDS. Ultimately, you should see what your doctor thinks is best for you. If your doctor insists on Celebrex, you may want to contact the company and see if they have any discount coupons that your pharmacy can process. Many companies do this.
t feel guilty for takin tylonol or motrin for a headache and whatnot. But good for u for not goin back to the narcotics cause it is easy for us to go back to them when we really are in pain cause our mind will tell us that we need the narcotics cause we r dying cause the pain is so bad even tho it isn't that bad at all.
s had problems with holding her urine. At times it will just come out. She was put on a med. from the Vet. Does anyone know of a generic brand or natural one that will do the same. I can't keep going back paying office visits everytime she needs a new med.
When my vet recommended the Preventic collar, she said that it was the best thing she had found for her own dogs, and she was living in a very bad area for ticks. But that was several years ago, and fleas and ticks evolve all the time to adapt to chemicals. Maybe the Preventic is still good; maybe there is something better now.
If your dog gets a lot of ticks, I think it is worth trying to prevent them from attaching.
Since lupus can affect the internal organs, I would take her to see another rheumie until you find one that will try something other than or in addition to an NSAID like meloxicam. (I also take meloxicam, but in conjunction with three other meds for RA that go after the disease process itself, not just treating the symptoms like meloxicam alone).
Blood work is only one of many diagnostic tools, not the yes-or-no definitive answer.
The drug in both forms is FDA-approved for dogs – the oral form is more often used to treat the symptoms of canine osteoarthritis. The injectable was approved for one-time use only in cats to manage postoperative pain. The oral form was not approved for use in cats at all. Hi there! I was just prescribed meloxicam 15mg for arthritis along with prilosec for acid reflux. I was wondering if you could tell me if meloxicam would be better for pain relief compared to 800mg ibuprofen. Also does it take time for meloxicam to build up in my body for maximum benefit? If so, how long does it take? Thanks very much!
I went to the doctor for some issues that I had been having and decided to reach out to my doctor for help getting off these bad boys. He perscribed Meloxicam to help with some the withdrawal symptons. I have to say this stuff, which is just an anit inflammatory will helps with the symptons. It eleminates the hot, flush feeling which is most annoying. It really does help. Just wondering if it's all in my head or has anyone actually heard of this?

I've been on that medication for many years and have had no side effects. It's been very helpful for my condition (severe tibial tendonitis).
I work for an Ortho Surgeon and he prescribes Mobic ( generic Meloxicam) and some patients complain of low grade fever from that. As TX said it is incredibly frustrating trying to get answers and finding doctors that will listen AND find the right DX. Does she have regular blood work done to test for any side effects from the Enbrel? I am very interested in knowing what kind of thigh pain she is experiencing, do they ache, any muscle spasms, feeling of heaviness to them?
