Avatar f tn The drug in both forms is FDA-approved for dogs – the oral form is more often used to treat the symptoms of canine osteoarthritis. The injectable was approved for one-time use only in cats to manage postoperative pain. The oral form was not approved for use in cats at all. However, veterinarians are allowed to use medications in an “extra label” or “off label” manner, meaning they can legally prescribe oral meloxicam for cats." Please keep us updated, I hope all is well.
Avatar f tn Zofran? That is a pretty strong med. I have heard of it being used in dogs going through Chemo but I would not use that without consulting a Vet first. Have you tried Dramamine or Ginger? What breed and size dog is this? How old? You could try a ginger capsule in something like lunch meat, cheese or pill pocket. I have had success using Ginger Snap cookies about 30 mins before leaving and take some along with me.
Business man2 t forget a Rx, I’ve taken all my “Rx meds and other OTC items” (with at least 12oz of water) first thing upon rising in the morning …. followed immediately by my same-breakfast-of-7 years of 2 “unprocessed” whole grain/nut/fruit breakfast bars (held together by (alas) maltose) and a full 20oz+ of water.
Avatar f tn Determining a dosage of tramadol for dogs is an exercise in futility. As with people, if the dog has a history of seizures it is important to let your vet know this, and they will likely tell you about alternatives. While the dosage amounts vary from dog to dog, the tramadol dosage for dogs can be put into effect by using the dog’s weight as the determinant. The usual range is .5 - 1.8mg per pound.
1550149 tn?1340000730 In a search for an answer to your side effects question I also did some looking into the prescribed Meloxicam. Some of the side effects of Mobic (meloxicam) are problems with vision or balance and headaches. Sorry I could not be of greater assistance. Please discuss your SX with your prescribing physician. It may behove you to try an alternative pain medication to see if your SX will decrease or resolve.
463897 tn?1468013750 Thank you, I look forward to doing what I can to help people navigate this often confusing and scary journey. A little about me: I'm Carolan, 50 years old, dx'ed with JRA at age 5. Luckily (?) for me my disease was more the slow, grinding, chronic type than the more aggressive type. I had my first joint replacement, the left hip in 1997 at age 37, and since then it's been a steady parade of surgical tweaks.
Avatar m tn Can you take meloxicam and later a couple of Advil? I was prescribed meloxicam for my arthritis and it does not always help me..
1687929 tn?1319426011 Hi, may I ask what dosage of Topamax were u on...I tried to up my dosage and got worse, now that I am at the lowest dosage I am ok....just wondering if it was the dosage? And by pain r u talking headache's...some have all over pains...so I am asking to what end ur pain is. I am not a fan of meds either, so I understand where u r coming from.
Avatar m tn From the symptoms I think your vet is probably right on the money with the diagnosis of a mass in the brain, but I doubt that the tremors signify pain because you said they are of short duration. Pain wouldn't be that transient, so it sounds like she may be having a neurological reaction to the mass. As long as she is eating her food, eager to go outside and is alert and happy to see you when you talk to her, just let her be. You will know when it's time.
175688 tn?1297556647 So glad to hear from you! The Meloxicam is an NSAID much like Ibuprophen, just stronger, kind of like the 800 mg Ibuprophen. It should help quite a bit and has absolutely no potential for addiction, so its a great choice! I am sorry to hear that you are still suffering, but i think this will help. Send me a message sometime soon to let me know how you are and whatcha been up to, have missed you.
Avatar m tn I got x-rays and was diagnosed with degenerative arthritis in my big toe joint and on 9-18-13 I started taking Meloxicam (Mobic). The 1st two nights of taking Meloxicam I felt achey at night and had a fever of about 100- 101. That went away for a while, but then started happening again now every night from about 10-1-13 to now 10-11-13. I get a slight fever at night (100-101) and sweat bad all night long. Bad enough to where the sheets are wet. I usually lose about 3 - 3 1/2 lbs.
Avatar n tn Hi windseakr, First, I want to welcome you to the PM (Pain Management) Forum and let you know that we are glad you found this Forum. We are all CP (Chronic Pain) Patients that help each other with our own expertise and experiences that we have developed through our own CP Issues. Meloxicam (Mobic) is most commonly used for reducing pain, inflammation and joint swelling associated with different forms of arthritis. It's in the family of NSAID's medications.
Avatar f tn Has anyone heard of Meloxicam helping with w/d from opiates, such lortabs? I went to the doctor for some issues that I had been having and decided to reach out to my doctor for help getting off these bad boys. He perscribed Meloxicam to help with some the withdrawal symptons. I have to say this stuff, which is just an anit inflammatory will helps with the symptons. It eleminates the hot, flush feeling which is most annoying. It really does help.
Avatar n tn WOW! You sure are a great doggy parent in that your pup has lived to the ripe old age of 15. So far, all 3 of the dogs I've lost never quite made it to 14, so my hat's off to you. :-) With the previous hip injury, it's pretty obvious that the problem is arthritis that has finally reached the crippling point. Glucosamine can only do so much. Dogs are a whole lot more stoic about pain than humans are, and I can about bet you with 100% certainly that your dog IS hurting.
1021831 tn?1331605848 I experience pain in my tailbone, and legs on a daily level, nothing has honestly ever worked, I hated the idea of having to take pills on a daily basis, but I finally gave in, as the pain became unbearable. I take Norco 10 2xs a day supposed to take 4xs a day, if you have problems with feeling sleepy, take with lots of caffeine, I honestly get drowsy within the first 45min, and it lasts about 90min but then I'm good. I also take meloxicam 7.5 2xs a day, Anti-inflammatory.
Avatar m tn I was wondering if you could tell me if meloxicam would be better for pain relief compared to 800mg ibuprofen. Also does it take time for meloxicam to build up in my body for maximum benefit? If so, how long does it take? Thanks very much!
Avatar n tn on his normal days. Abit more if his regular routine is going to be interrupted...i.e. out-of-town, large group of friends that he is unfamiliar with...then I provide 250mg, twice daily. Hope this helps a bit. It is a wonder drug for "LD." Good luck! Hug the puppy for me!
Avatar n tn I do not see kidney function on the list of side effects. Did you look on WebMD? Just curious. I’m prone to stones. That is why I’m asking. Don’t trust doctors at all anymore.
Avatar n tn But, I suspect that it was, since I was perfectly healthy before starting the Meloxicam (with the exception of minor back pain in the morning associated with osteoarthritis). Also, I made an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon after all of my tests came back normal from the Neurologist and Primary Care Physician.
Avatar f tn Is there anyone who is taking Meloxicam that would know how much aspirin is in it? I am allergic to aspirin and just read the printout from the pharmacy. Can't call my dr till Mon. and think maybe I shouldn't take it. On the other hand my dr knows I'm allergic to aspirin. Hoping someone may know.
Avatar m tn I have gained a considerable amount of weight will taking Meloxicam. Once I stop taking will the weight come off??
Avatar n tn I also take meloxicam, and tylenol is about the only thing that I know of that can be taken in conjunction with it. You still need to be careful not to take more than the prescribed dosages, though. I believe there were studies done recently that showed too many people take over the counter tylenol, believing it's safe - too much of it is hard on the liver. Most people really only need one regular strength tylenol, not two extra strength. Anyway, that got a little off topic.
1044813 tn?1370494406 Sure, we can add Mobic/Meloxicam to the Pain Tracker for you. In the meantime, please use NSAIDs, since meloxicam is a type of NSAID and this is already available on the tracker.
Avatar n tn My pet spaniel has been put on lasix for his heart condition. My question is, is there a minimum dosage that's effective yet reduces the amount of water intake and his frequent urination. His quality of life and ours is very difficult right now as he must be taken out frequently. He is approximately 20 lbs.
20153054 tn?1491240067 Most dogs are okay with Benadryl in the right dosage but there can always be adverse reactions or dogs for whom it is unsuitable -so check first! Even if that is a phone call instead of a visit. Some info (including dosage per weight) on Benadryl for dogs: http://benadrylfordogs.
