Avatar f tn I went to a eye doc, he gave me two eye drops. One carboxy methyl cellulose sodium 1% for dryness of my eye and another Gatifloxacin & ketorolac tromethamine eye drop for treatment. The doc told me something entered inside my eye.
Avatar n tn However, I do know that in general prenisolone acetate opthalmic soluction eye drops are prescribed to help combat inflammation. Generally, they are used after eye surgeries to help the eye heal. Since prednisolone is a steroid it can cause an increased susceptibility to infections so it may be paired with an antibiotic such as ciprofloxacin or gatifloxacin. As with all medicines it is important to seek the advice of your physician about its safety.
Avatar n tn I have done over 12,000 cataract/IOL patients and not have anyone where we could not use cortisone eye drops. I have heard the story you are telling many time. Rarely has this person gone into the Eye MD office and had ONLY a drop of steroid used. Other drops used virtually every visit: topical anesthetics, dilating drops, fluoriscene drops. Many people have adverse effects to dilating drops especially 10% ephnephrine even 2.

Avatar m tn Thank you so very much! it was really helpful. Its difficult to identify what is causing the allergic response. Being in the same environment, sometimes is less irritating, sometimes it is troublesome. So hard to say what is the exact reason. Will visit an allergist after completing the treatment from the ophthalmologist. As u suggested he has prescribed antihistamines and drops.
Avatar m tn i went to opthomlogist and I was given Tobramycin and everything went fine after using that for a wek. Then 3 months later ,I got some itchy eye(again right eye), and i again went to eye doctor and was given antibiotic gatifloxacin ( if i correctly remember the name) and tear naturals which I used for 2months but still used to have itchy eyes Then again in Feb I went to an eye hospital(as i used to have itchy eye-right) and they checked everything and told me everything is ok,its just dry eyes.

Avatar n tn I have been trying different eye drops for my dry eyes and the irritation. I am on prescription antibiotics as well but for inbetween. I have tried systane, thera tears, natural tears and my doc gave me optive which has perservatives and the others don't but tried them now. Does anyone find one brand better then others and is there issues with using the preservative ones? He said it was fine to use 4 times a day.
Avatar m tn I just had eye surgery. Doctor prescribed 3 different eye drop medicines for a week. Can anyone tell me what each are for? A friend told me some were dangerous to my eye? Is this true?
Avatar m tn I have been using over the counter eye drops (namely, Opcon A) daily for a few years in order to combat my red eyes. With constant use, I have noticed that they do not work nearly as well anymore, and that my eyes are redder than ever. I read into the subject and have learned that with prolonged use, your eye becomes more dependent on the drops and does in fact become redder. Every morning I wake up with eyes that are extremely bloodshot red and uncomfortable.
Avatar m tn Hello doctor thank you for helping me with my question, one more thing [smile] this is really bothering me how come the doctors could not tell that i had eye dialation drops in my eye, why cant a doctor tell the difference between a blown pupil and a dialated pupil on drops thanks so much

Avatar m tn i may have taken ofloxacin and prednisolone eye drops in my eye 5 times in a day instead of the 4 times like i was supposed to do.will it cause any harm?
Avatar m tn Please note that I had briefly experimented with the carnosine drops alone, but find that they work much better if you also use MSM drops. MSM serves to make the eye structures more elastic and permeable.
Avatar f tn A few hours after using Brochlor eye drops to treat conjunctivitis I have completely lost my taste and sense of smell. I don't have a cold or blocked nose. Is this normal as side effect not stated. Will this last a long time? Am I damaging something by using drops? Thank you.
