gastroenteritis

Avatar f tn If the foods that are making it worse correspond to those found to cause problems in persons with GERD recheck with your doc that H. pylori is not present and that you may not be experiencing symtpoms of GERD.

Avatar n tn I spent 4 days in the hospital with electrolytes out of balance due to dehydration from uncontrollable diahrrea and vomiting; diagnosed as Acute Gastroenteritis. A year ago I began having intermittent bouts of vomiting bile every few months. Have been on all PPI's and Acid Reflux controlled pretty well but still have vomiting episodes. What's your recommendation? This leaves me wiped out for a couple of days with tenderness in stomach and right abdomen.
Avatar n tn First and foremost is the possibility of gastroenteritis. Gastroenteritis is an irritation and infection of the digestive tract. It can often cause sudden and sometimes violent upsets and may be confused with spastic colitis.
Avatar n tn There could be many causes for this, the most common are gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and gastroenteritis. You should see a physician or gastroenterologist.

Avatar f tn vomits of liquids and saliva; pain in my stomach; i eat and i feel indigest and inflamated, i wake up every morning withpain in my abdomen, sometimes i trough is horrible what could be and what i need to do thanks very much if anybody can help with my question This discussion is related to nonerosive gastritis, diffuse h pylori negative.
Avatar f tn There is a muscle that normally opens to let food into the stomach and closes to keep food and stomach acid in. With GERD, this muscle does not work properly, and causes food and stomach acid to leak back up the esophagus. It could also be Gastroenteritis as Tuck has suggested. There are also about 2000 other reasons why you are vomiting stomach acid. Please have it checked out. Make that appt. with your Doctor. Better safe than sorry. Please take care and good luck.
1788584 tn?1315106518 Secondly Acid reflux gives you very bad stomach ache and usually lasts for a short time and you can possible be sick with it but feel much better straight away without diarroe and sickness ectr. I no this as i suffer from acid reflux myself. The term Gastroenteritis springs to mind as you say you have been sick and been havin toilet issues. This usually clears up within a few days and its like havin a flu virus or stomach bug.
Avatar n tn Pylori can also cause such symptoms. Gastroenteritis is an irritation and infection of the digestive tract. It can be produced from viral, bacterial and parasitic infections, contaminated food or water, food poisoning, use of harsh laxatives, change in bacteria that normally live in the intestinal tract, chemical toxins in certain plants, seafood, or contaminated food, and heavy metal poisoning. Take adequate fluids throughout the day.
Avatar n tn There are many things that may be causing the symptoms. GERD or a viral gastroenteritis are possibilities. Other causes can include an ulcer, irritable bowel syndrome, or inflammation of the esophagus or stomach. A reasonable test to exclude more serious diseases would be an upper GI series or upper endoscopy. I would also test for H Pylori - a bacteria that is associated with inflammation or an ulcer. The upper GI series would demonstrate whether GERD is present or not.
Avatar m tn I'm a 22-year-old male, with a history of stress-induced Irritable Bowel Syndrome and GERD (when I'm feeling psychologically well, they go away!), and moderately hypochondriac. A long-time phobia of mine is, of course, appendicitis and the subsequent appendectomy that appears to be the necessary course of action in most such cases.

Avatar f tn Always struggling with nausea. Vomiting is consistant especially in the mornings. History of anorexia/bulemia into my 30's and an episode of bleach...History of bleeding ulcers and since age 18 have tried probiodics, pepcid, mylanta, tums, etc... Nexium and the probiodics seem to help the best.
Avatar n tn Irritable bowel disease, gastroenteritis, and colitis can all lead to bloating. Imaging with a CT scan can evaluate for colitis. If there are changes in bowel habits, a colonoscopy can be performed for a more thorough evaluation. If the discomfort is in the upper abdomen, you can consider an upper endoscopy to exclude GERD, inflammation or an ulcer. These options can be discussed with your personal physician, or in conjunction with a GI physician.
175861 tn?1428182413 s been acting up for around 3 weeks-burpy, baggy feeling in throat-went to ENT and gastro and ENT said she thinks its gerd-she did a scope of my larynx and saw redness and post nasal drip (the latter of which ive had most of my life). The loose stools are more recent. The gastro doctor does not think the gerd and gastro symptoms are related. She thinks its IBS which hasn't really flared for over 10 yrs.
