Gabapentin for dogs dosage

Common Questions and Answers about Gabapentin for dogs dosage

Avatar f tn Gabapentin is used for epilepsy treatment, although it is sometimes used to treat neuropathic pain. I don't think it will help you much as it doesn't bond to receptors as opiates do.
1916673 tn?1420236870 Because these compounds were engineered for humans , dogs eventually cease responding to them. But they often do raise the pets PVC for a time. There is a danger in giving this product. When the pet's immune system decides to attack human erythropoetin as a foreign protein, it not only destroys the human erythropoetin that was given - it also destroys the pets natural erythropoetin. So it can make the anemia even worse. It should only be used as a last ditch effort.
220965 tn?1189759423 Imodium, Imodium, Imodium (liquid or pills if the liquid can't be found or you can't swallow it) will help. I took double the dosage for a few days (personal choice) and it helped so much..even with the withdrawals in general and the opiate trots which sucked. Hydrate and eat! Even if it is just a little every hour or so. You have to eat something to keep your energy up as much as possible. If you have Restless is hit or miss what works. Walking seemed to help me some.
1548028 tn?1324616046 I train my own service dogs to aid me. I am a painter and a writer. I started riding horses for therapy last year when my balance was gone for bicycling. I have symptoms. My life changes but I adapt because I have to. You are a loving mother I can tell. I do not know what your boy will be diagnosed with. Then if it is MS no one knows what his path will be. We all have different damage so our experiences are a little different. Have courage and take it one step at a time.
Avatar m tn There are several of us on here who have a similar eye complaint: seeing a bright flash, like the afterimage of a flash bulb, when we blink, and sometimes, on upgaze. This is transient symptom for most of us, lasting anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. When the "spot" in our visual field passes over a dark background, the spot appears light. When the spot passes over a light background, it appears dark.
Avatar n tn He also suffers from noise anxiety and becomes extremely destructive ( tearing house apart behavior)around loud noises(fireworks, gunshots, thunder etc). He has been taking Gabapentin and Fluoxetine for the noise anxiety for 1.5 years. We have moved him into a secure safe room and that limits the destruction. I'm looking for any advice on other things that I could do to stop the seizures. Since I started the meds , 4 days ago he is occasionally weak in the rear legs .
996946 tn?1503252712 No experience with gabapentin for pets, but I've been on it for many years for nerve/spinal injury pain, it's very effective, not addicting. Side effects for me were minor, such as sedating. But it can also cause constipation Linda and I know this is a huge prob for Aramis.
847512 tn?1272570662 It is odd how some meds work for some and not others like Carolyn and the did nothing for me but cause side effects.....
Avatar f tn I'm so sorry for not checking earlier! Fortunately for me (AND for you), Savas was board hopping and gave you some EXCELLENT advice. Phenobartibal can be a very difficult drug for a dog to adjust to. It not only affects the sense of smell in some cases, it can make them very lethargic and it takes them a while to learn how to fight the effects of the drug and go on like normal.
Avatar m tn After doing a lot of research online I stumbled upon Gabapentin which is a anti-seizure medication but they also use it for arthritis pain. As luck would have it the medication sounded familiar. Sure enough, I have 2 bottles in my med drawers from when I had a seizure for no reason last year. I am taking 1 - 400mg tablet 3 times a day and today is day number 2 and I cannot believe how this has helped me.I actually cooked and was not thinking about my pain.
Avatar m tn to look for a real paying job w/Health Ins and bennys, cleaning my own house VS having someone else do it, taking my pooch to the park and/or for walks, bathing my dog VS having the groomer do it, brushing my dog daily, washing my dogs eyes every morning to get the sleep out, etc).
Avatar m tn You could try giving her a little pedialyte, which is just good in general for diarrhea. I'm not sure of the dosage for a toy poodle though--I would guess just 2 or 3 ml... But that's just a guess. I would google that before giving her any... We feed a high quality carb-free diet (Flint River Ranch Fish and Chips kibble mixed with Back To Basics organ meat kibble). I don't know if it helps dogs with seizures at all, but carb-free diets are recommended for children with epilepsy.
Avatar m tn Ask your doc about Gabapentin (Neurontin), it helped me get off of a 240mg/day Oxycodone addiction in 4 days (still had minor withdrawals symptoms but it was easily manageable)... The great thing about that stuff is that it's very cheap and it works well if taken right, so it won't be a huge expense for you. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Hi again. Dry food really isn't good for kd dogs as it (obviously) has no water content whatsoever, whereas canned has about 80% water, which is a great way of making sure your dog stays hydrated and therefore flushes the kidneys. The kd canned food is good for now, but I am a little concerned about the low sodium content. I would talk to your vet about it. Keeping this mineral within normal parameters is essential, without allowing it to get into a high range.
544292 tn?1268886268 Hi Tramadol Warriors, Many people have come here for many years, giving support and getting support. Because I still believe that Tramadol is unique in it's ... terror and torture of humans, this thread continues. The people who can understand what you are going thru are the people who have kicked it and there's people here who come back to lend a hand. You also will never need an understanding ear as much. You can do it. You can quit. You do not need to be a slave to Tramadol.

Avatar f tn I am having a hard time stopping and I know I need to . I have taken this for a long time. First, I was prescribed this med and then I found other ways to get it. Knowbody knows I take it as much as I do. Anyone....have some advice?
149081 tn?1242401432 I will be having a second sleep study done next week followed by a daytime study as well. The doctor is specifically looking for narcolepsy and/or an Upper airway restriction. I have lots of short term memory loss and excessive daytime sleepiness as well. Sleep apnea has been ruled out as of this point. The newest symptom I am experiencing is dreaming while awake. I can be standing by the sink or working at the computer and dream- not daydream though actually have a dream.
544292 tn?1268886268 I've been feeling like I was going crazy for a long time. And in addition to that; the scary suicidal ideation. The suicidal ideation vanished and returns ONLY if I get a flare up of withdrawal symptoms. That happens if I get over stressed. So i need some coping mechanisms. At the moment; "I am STILL ALVE!?" Is a pretty good coping mechanism! :) Love and healing, Emily PS. No Tramadol Withdrawal symptoms today .... :) YAY!
