Frequent urination in a woman

Common Questions and Answers about Frequent urination in a woman

Avatar f tn I am a 40 year old woman with the problem of frequent urination. I do not have diabetes or UTI and my ultrasound scan is normal. I underwent a D&C procedure in December of 2007. My urologist thinks that I should see a psychiatrist. I have a bulky uterus. I was 200 lbs three years ago, now I am 125 lbs, (through diet and excercise). My gynec told me that I have over-exercised,(walking 14 km a day). I feel constant irritation and pressure in my bladder.
Avatar f tn Ask for a cystoscopy (where they put a camera in your urethra to see what's blocking it). I'm going in for one in a few weeks and hoping for answers.
Avatar f tn Get yourself a catheter, its a line from your urethra, down your leg and attached to a pouch to carry your urine. That way you can pee whenever you want if you don't want to be bothered with going to a bathroom. Sounds like fun right?!
Avatar f tn For the past two and a half years, I've had a problem with frequent urination. No incontinence of any kind, but I tend to pee on average 12-20 times a day. Sometimes I'll be up one or two times at night, sometimes more and sometimes not at all. I DO drink quite a bit of fluid. I tend to average 50-100+ ounces of fluid a day. Usually once a day I'll have a cup of tea, but I don't drink a ton of coffee or any soda at all.
Avatar f tn So this week I have noticed a decrease in my frequent urination. I find this to be quite odd becauseI have been drinking tons more fluids this week because I've been sick and for the past two or three weeks I would have to get up at least 4 times in the night to go pee, but now I can go straight through the night. I'm so scared that something may have happened. I am currently 9 weeks 3 days. And most of my nausea has seemed to decrease too and my breasts are not as sore.
Avatar n tn Getting up at night 3-4 times is a lot for a young woman so it is something to look into so you can find the cause. If your ovaries were removed, it could mean that your bladder has had reduced estrogen for eight years and it has caused a change in the muscles that support the bladder. It could also mean there is a bladder infection. But there are many other possible causes as well. It is difficult to know the reason without more history and an exam.

Avatar n tn I am a 50 year old woman. I had a hysterectomy one year and nine months ago and I have had urinary problems developing progressively since then. I have to get up during the night, usually three times, sometimes only twice and I feel the need to urinate very frequently during the day, even though there isn't much to pass. I don't have a urinary tract infection as this has been checked.
Avatar m tn I recently had unprotected oral sex with a first encounter woman. Within a few days I noticed a slight burning pain in my urethra.Within a couple of weeks I went to see a urologist. They took a urine sample, and found white blood cells. They said they were going to send the urine off to diagnose what type of bacteria was in it. They never did this, so I did not return to this urologist out of frustration as I had waited over a week to find they never did the test.
Avatar f tn I think the answer is 8 times a day in a 24 hour period is the normal average. I think it also has to do with how much you drink though too. If I'm drinking a lot of water (a liter an hour lets say) in the summer it is every 1/2 hour for me, and with a carbonation drink or alcohol it is much worse. If I'm just sitting around and not really drinking anything it might only be once every hour or two. Though I'm a bad one to ask because I'm always running to the bathroom.
Avatar f tn I am not pregnant but can push my stomach out to look like a 7 month pregnant woman, especially after eating a light meal. I feel that after I void, my bladder is not fully empty and experience cramping and frequent urination. I have been having distention for 2 years now. Since the baby, who is now 6,4, I have had a problem with leakage when laughing, coughing or sneezing or exercising. These things as well as the ballooned stomach have gotten worse and I fear the umbilical hernia may be back.
Avatar m tn To start with, let me qualify with the fact that I have extreme anxiety issues with medical stuff, to the point of panic attacks, so I am wondering if I have a reason to worry or if it's in my head. I had a brief encounter 3.5 weeks ago in which a random woman at performed oral sex on me for 10-15 seconds or so. I have a very limited sexual history, and was drunk so was not erect. No ejaculation, I came to my senses, and stopped it.
Avatar n tn You need to see a gyn, since frequent urination is a symptom of ovarian cysts as well as OvCa. I had a large endometrial cyst that was leaning on the bladder, worse when I was sitting, that made me go constantly. Was checked for UTI... no infection. So, go get checked by a gyn... Even if it turns out to be nothing, you'll feel much better knowing.
Avatar n tn I have to wonder if this isn't a case of Intersticial Cystitis. There is a woman within Medhelp that is very familiar with this health issue, I've sent her a PM to see if she would take a look at your post to see if it sounds like it to her and if she can guide you. (This forum is for pelvic organ prolapse so I want to point you to someone who can help you more specifically.) Hang in there a bit longer, we'll see what we can find for you.
Avatar m tn He isn't gassy, so we can't figure out if the bloating is gas, fluid, or inflammation. Also the frequent urination has him up about 3 times a night. Liquids seem to go right through him. I'll watch him drink a glass of water and pee the whole thing out within an hour. Even when he doesn't drink 2 hours before bed, he'll still urinate several times at night. He eats extremely healthy (has for many years).
Avatar n tn I had frequent and urgent urination but no blood. I would keep going in to get tested for a bladder infection but never had one. I think it would be rare to have blood except in a very advanced case and you would likely have several symptoms at that point. Usually, the tumor just puts pressure on the bladder. I did have back pain but it was crampy and I could feel it through to my front. Please follow up with a gyn if you have concerns.
Avatar m tn I started having frequent urination problem since last November.I would urinate anywhere from 10-15 times a day and this would get worse when i would try to sleep . I would urinate with decent amount of urine a decent flow and before sleeping but i would still feel the need to urinate and would do 5-6 trips to the restroom. After falling asleep , i would get up 2-3 times to pee. I also felt everytime after masturbation , frequency will get even worse with some burning .
Avatar n tn I don't know if it's ever something that needs to be treated in a non pregnant woman. Maybe if it sort of took over? Just like yeast is also a normal inhabitant of the female genital tract, if there is an imbalance and it overtakes the normal flora, you get symptomatic. Maybe group B strep is the same.
Avatar f tn He hobbled away as fast as he could. As you say, she is a grown woman. I begged her to go to the doc for a std check and general exam. She says she's been. The police were involved so I think she would have gone as they advised this too. She's had all the checks in the hosp but I will try to persuade her to call the doc and arrange further xrays in the light of what you suggest. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks once again for your considered and helpful reply. Take care.
Avatar f tn I am 24 years old woman and having so much embarassment due to frequent urination. A little background, few years back I had fever, which paralyzed me, couldn't walk nor move my limbs nor that i can feel anything. I got hospitalized and went to theraphist who help me to learn walking and movements. After that, I felt fine, except that I started the frequent urination and to make it worst is I can't hold urination. Whenever I get the surge to pee, I have to rush to the ladies at once.
Avatar dr m tn A new study confirms these findings again, but points out that the presence of frequent trips to the bathroom is as sensitive in predicting obstructive sleep apnea as snoring! Sleep apnea also makes the body produce more urine, and because you wake up every few hours, you’ll want to go, but you won’t have a completely full bladder. Sudden shifts in blood flow into the heart after an obstructive event increases production of atrial natriuretic peptide, which makes you produce more urine.
Avatar f tn I am a 63 year old woman, 21 years with MS, in a wheelchair for the last 12yrs. I have an indwelling catheter for the last 4 plus years, I cannot transfer without the aid of a sling and a lift. For the last 2 years I have had the discomfort of a bladder infection at least every 2 months. It clears up with antibiotics only to resume a month later. Some bleeding and lots of mucus is visable in my urine when this happens.
Avatar n tn Dear Doctor, I am a woman of 27 years old. There is four years that i am having frequent problems with urination and the doctors seem to think it is all in my head. I began to have this frequent need to urinate,,,day and night when i was 23 years ( still virgin so there were no vaginal infections). The urine analysis and urineculture has always been sterile,,,and abdominal ultrasound always normal.
Avatar f tn For over a year or so,i have had a bit of pelvic pain(feels like a bladder infection ),i do not have much stomach pain at all,i have coccyx/tailbone pain that radiates to my buttocks and right leg(worse when standing for a long time).I have been having frequent urination and a slight burning feeling in vagina but no pain on urination. What scares me too is that i have a weird sensation in my vagina(at the top)which feels like something is there. This also gets worse if i am standing for too long.
Avatar n tn 54 I am a 23 year old woman who has been suffering from frequent urination for about a year. It all started when I met and fell in love with my finance. He and I are waiting until marriage to have sexual intercourse, but was having oral sex performed on me which I read in a medical journal can cause UTI's, if excessive, which it was. I had gotten a few during the year, but my symptoms always came back.
Avatar n tn I guess I'm in a similar boat. Not as serious as you but the issue of not being able to urinate (Or if I do its a fraction of what I should be able to do) I would like to suggest a couple of things. First learn how to self cath. I did it for a while wrong and of course every experience was to say the least uncomfortable. There is also a huge difference between catheters.
Avatar n tn Symptoms have been going on for a few months, pain in testicles was few, far in between, and short lived until a few days ago. As I'm typing this right now, my testicles hurt like you wouldn't believe. Kind of a dull pain. Me legs hurt too. I was at work today and my testicles hurt then but not nearly as bad, and it got worse towards the end of the day. Mostly in the right testicle, and it will pass to the left occasionally.
Avatar m tn You probably have what's called an 'irritable focus' in your healthy heart. This would be a few cells that are a bit twitchy and independent, but which are generally overriden by the heart's Pacemaker during physical activity. The heart rate set by the Pacemaker normally gets slower at rest, which gives these few cranky cells the opportunity to fire in the interval.
Avatar m tn would frequent urination be a symptom or just me worrying about it too much?
