Common Questions and Answers about Fosamax and dental extractions

fosamax

Avatar n tn it usually occurs in people with cancer or with serious dental problems. the jawbone actually rots away and can become quite painful and disfiguring. your friends dental problems combined with the drug caused this problem. the good news is she found out before the situation became too extreme.
Avatar m tn I am asking this question due to the lot's of people facing complications after medical procedure and medicines. So please share tips about how to take care of our teeth without taking chemical related stuff. This discussion is related to tooth extractions.
Avatar n tn ihad a tooth pulled and now the tooth next to it is hurting just like the one i had extracted. there is no tooth in front or behind this tooth. it is normal for it to be in so much pain. it has been 6 days.
Avatar dr m tn Have you undergone any dental extractions in the past, and if so, how many teeth were removed? I have a smaller jaw and had quite a lot of extractions - probably 6 3. Have you undergone any jaw surgeries in the past, and if so, what type? None 4. Were you bottle-fed or breast fed as an infant? Bottle fed 5. Do you snore? Yes 6. Do you have cold hands or feet?
Avatar f tn That's terrible! I would search for any lawsuits against the manufacturer of Fosamax for injury like this resulting on facial bone loss and tooth loss. Seems to be me they should pay for any corrective dental or medical treatment and pay compensation for pain and suffering. I've read negative things about this drug and it's ironic that it is advertised as preventing bone loss, and yet it accelerates it.
Avatar f tn Hi, my kitties have had lots of cleanings and extractions over the years and never have had Antib's before the procedure. And we're only ever given a 5 day round after extractions not after just a cleaning. So glad you didn't allow convienia.....
Avatar m tn Hiv is not transmitted via dental extractions and all dental tools are sterilized to meet guidelines and health standards.Your safe.
Avatar n tn I had a healthy dog until he went under for dental cleaning and tooth extractions. The tooth extractions went well, but two days later he developed pancreatitis. We got it under control with medication and low fat canned food. However, when we stopped the meds we noticed he wasn't turning his neck and his neck started throbbing. We took him in again to the vet. The vet x-rayed his neck and said he has a slipped disk.
Avatar f tn s a ton out there ) about complications that can arise from wisdom teeth extractions. Alas, I did not investigate fully ( accepting only my oral surgeons view ) and am paying the price for that neglect. There ARE other options. Interestingly enough there's even a segment of dental medicine that advocates NO wisdom teeth extractions except under the most extreme circumstances. Please...BE INFORMED.
Avatar f tn She needs a dental (At your Vet) and possible extractions.....The bad breath is bacteria and/or rotting teeth......Dental disease leads to many other problems if left untreated......Including heart disease.... See your Vet ASAP and get her teeth cleaned......It will help her tremendously......Good luck and Thank You for Adopting!
514349 tn?1272801633 He said everything was fine except for some dental problems. He gave me an itemized breakdown of what it would cost - $359 to $408 and that is for EACH cat, so that means I could be spending anywhere from $716 to $816 on cat teeth. I wanted to know if these charges on the list are on the high side and what, if any, are "padding".
Avatar n tn t take for because it can cause a heart attack and being I do not numb I have to be put under for the tooth extractions. Make sure you tell your dentist about your heart condition and he will tell you to get a medical clearance first because he will not touch you.
Avatar f tn He's been dealing with tooth pain and my insurance covers very little found out it'll be around $800.00 tip brave two extractions. I'm waiting till Dec1st 2016 when my second dental insurance kicks in.until than can i use clarithromycin 500 mg to help ease the pain? It was mine but i never had to use it.
Avatar m tn Food and Drug Administration raised concerns about the potential for some serious side effects in women taking bone-building drugs called bisphosphonates, specifically Fosamax, Actonel and Reclast. The published findings are not new.
Avatar f tn Iehp will cover certain visits. if your your over 21 it will not cover cleanings and fillings. It will cover emergency dentist visits and tooth extractions.
Avatar f tn It generally covers extractions and certain fillings. I had to have a wisdom tooth pulled at 23 weeks and I am on medicaid. Your dentist might ask for a letter from your doctor saying it is ok for them to preform the procedure and what medications and anesthetics they can use.
Avatar n tn I am getting ready to have 17 extractions done on the same day and have Afordable Dentures put a full set of dentures in. Is it safe to have that many teeth taken out at the same time?? Will I be able to function the next day?? When do you think I can return to work??
Avatar f tn I am also a dental assistant. I agree with the post above. You need to see a dentist asap in case there is an infection. If there is, you will need an antibiotic. It is not recommended that pregnant women have xrays and we never do them unless the patient is in severe pain and we have reason to believe there might be an infection. We have done extractions on pregnant women and their stage in pregnancy never made a difference.
1399266 tn?1280637104 My 8 year old cat, Kupid was diagnosed with a dental abscess about a week ago and put on clindamycin 1 ml twice a day. When she started she had a pink drainage coming from her right eye and right nostril. Her eye has gotten better and her nose has slightly improved. She is still sneezing and looks terrible but she is eating on her own. This cat has failed the pre anesthesia test twice after having complications during her spay surgery so we are reluctant to put her under to pull her tooth.
7775507 tn?1400115882 Yes dental work is safe and highly recommended when pregnant so you dont pass an infection to your unborn baby. I know that fillings, deep cleaning, tooth extractions, fixing chipped teeth are all safe. I would ask about root canals though.
Avatar n tn The technique they use at this place is an injection where you are conscious but do not remember a thing when you come round. I had two extractions a filling scrape and polish last time and I can honestly say I don't remember any of it. The only downside is you have to be referred by your own dentist and the waiting list for just an assessment is approx 6 months. Then you have to wait a further 6 months for treatment.
