DOGS CANNOT TAKE DECONGESTANTS!!!! They cannot metabolize them. If your dogs ears are that bad they are in need of antibiotic and antifungals. You can ask your vet to prescribe an antibiotic like cephalexin and an antifungal like fluconazole both which can be called into a walmart in your area and they are on the $4 generic list so it keeps cost down. As for itching they can have antihistamines WITHOUT DECONGESTANTS in them.

My German Shepherd was recently prescribed incurin and it has caused her not to eat and a little bit aggressive and scared... She also was running around with her hackles up and starting fights with my other dogs...She only had 3 or 4 days of it and then I took her off of it this last Sunday was her last dose...She still is not wanting to eat and not 100% back to herself? How long do the side effects last...It was taking me an hour and a half to get her to eat 2 cups of food...
I do not know that this surgery is available yet for dogs, or whether or not there are any canine neurosurgeons who would perform it, but if it does exist, my guess is that it would still be cost-prohibitive for anyone but the wealthiest pet owners or people who have pet health insurance.

Hi there, I looked on the side effects of Depakote and I didn't find anything to do with this. I've never been an angry person, nor have I really ever have I ever blasted people or my dogs. I've immediately stop taking this and want to know if my hairloss situation should get better. I was taking this medication for a nail fungus I had, it's already gone. probably the worst one I've read about is metacam, this one can cause blindness among other problems...beware, many Vets still use it!!
Blood testing is important, so if you are concerned about the side effects, get the vet to do a blood test to assess dosage levels. But, the side effects CAN continue for several weeks, before they will eventually start to subside. I know it's a hard process - but it has to be gone through - otherwise you will be back at square one.
Don't interfere with the dosing without the vet's authority - and importantly, give the dose at the same time every 12hrs.
