Fluconazole for yeast infections

Common Questions and Answers about Fluconazole for yeast infections

diflucan

Avatar n tn Fluconazole 150mg is a one single dose capsule for Thrush which is a yeast infection. The doctor prescribed it for me as I tend to get Thrush infections after antibiotics. Don't know which country you live in, but in the UK you can Canesten, Canesten HC and Trimovate. Some you can buy over the counter, other medications can only be prescribed by the doctor. If you are sexually active, make sure your partner is treated too, otherwise you just spread it to each other.
Avatar f tn Fluconazole does work on yeast infections as it is an antifungal. Clindamycin is different and is an antibiotic. It fights bacteria, not yeast or fungus. Clindamycin can create a situation in which you get a yeast infection. It's not used to treat a yeast infection but fluconazole is.
Avatar f tn The published experience with the use of smaller doses, such as those prescribed for vaginal fungal infections, suggests that the risk for adverse outcomes is low, if it exists at all. A 1998 review concurred with this assessment (15).
Avatar n tn I am 22 years old and have been dealing with on an off yeast infections for over a year. It all started out last March I got my first yeast infection and UTI at the same time from a Marathon, mind you I was a virgin at the time so it was not from sex. Following that I continued to get them on and off, after meeting my boyfriend and now being sexually active I get yeast infection every week. I get the symptoms for a couple of days and then they go away and come back a couple of days later.
Avatar f tn I personally like the one day Monostat ovules for yeast infections but fluconazole works really great. Hope it clears it up quickly!
Avatar f tn Apparently I can consistently getting yeast infections due to hormonam imbalance. I'm afraid to overdose on the fluconazole. Is there a natural way of getting rid of it? I'm thinking cranberry juice but should I drink it once in a while or is there another alternative. Because I have to avoid sugar in order to fix my hormonal imbalance.
Avatar n tn I've been getting recurring yeast infections for the past six months. I've been treated with flagyl, fluconazole, over the counter suppositories and nothing works, it just keeps coming back. I am on birth control (orthotricycline) do you think the pill could be causing my recurring yeast infections?
525485 tn?1314361301 In my experience, the over the counter creams do not work for me but I am extremely sensitive to medications. I alwasy call my doctor and she'll call in a script for me. But, I think Diflucan is the only oral medication (at least it's the only oral medication I've ever heard of for yeast infections).
Avatar f tn For yeast infections I was always given either monistat or fluconazole. A bacterial infection like BV would require metronidazole (flagyl).
689655 tn?1227249113 So I've had recurring yeast infections for a while now. I seriously get one every month. Sometimes it seems as if the only time I don't have even a slight infection, is when I'm on my period. My doctor prescribed fluconazole. She told me to take one pill each week for 6 months. The prescription information states that I should see results within 3-5 days. It has been 2 weeks now and just as I thought it was completely cleared up, it seems to be returning just slightly again.
Avatar f tn s on my body is still on my body lol yikes o.O) yogurt is suppose to be good for yeast infections, you can rea up on that if you would like. Hope something in my long comment helps lol. Good luck honey! I know they are super fkn miserable!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with a mild yeast infection. My doctor prescribed fluconazole pills but it only helped a little bit. I'm still having symptoms. I think she mentioned that she could prescribe a cream. Is there a difference between over the counter creams vs prescription creams prescribed by a doctor?
Avatar m tn ve heard that taking probiotics while taking antibiotics is also good for avoiding yeast infections, especially Acidopholous (which is the bacteria found in yogurt naturally). Maybe that could help you next time you get a round of antibiotics? And thanks for the your comments!
Avatar f tn Anytime you are on a prescription medication and you see a change or something happens, it's best to report it to your doctor so they are aware of what is happening- they will also be able to tell you if it's a side effect or something totally separate. Since fluconazole is used to treat yeast infections- it's not likely the cause, but the doctor should still know that you saw the fungal infection return, despite being on the medication.
Avatar m tn Most women who have experienced vaginal yeast infections are pretty good at recognizing them; if her symptoms are typical for yeast and respond to self-treatment, then probably that's what it is. Trichomonas symptoms are not like yeast, and would not respond to yeast treatment. All the tests you mention are very reliable; you can be confident you do not have any of the infections for which you were tested.
Avatar f tn Hi Doctor, Intermittently for the last few months I've been getting a patch on my tongue where there is no papillae. It comes and goes, varying in size each time and causes me no other issues. I did a lot of research on this and have narrowed it down to a condition called median rhomboid glossitis (MRG); experts in the medical community believe it is caused by Candida even though the condition looks nothing like thrush. As for me, I am in 100% good health.
4928337 tn?1362751166 I have just gotten it for a yeast infection. Creams do not work and its been so persistent he prescribed me this pill. You take it once. I have never had yeast.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever taken fluconazole? It's a tablet you take (only one) for yeast infection. My pharmacist said it's not for pregnant women but when I called the doc and told him what the pharmacist said he said it was ok to take. Has anyone else been prescribed this? I'm worried.
Avatar f tn After returning to the doctors they were stumped as to what it could be, with no obvious rash they where skeptical it was fungal but prescribed the fluconazole for 4 weeks as a test to see if it did remove it, I presume this method of fluconazole 50mg for 4 weeks would treat yeast also? No cultures or scrapings have ever been taken, they've referred me to a dermatologist but there's a 2 month wait and no obvious skin issues.
Avatar m tn I'm a 25 year old male, and I believe that in December I have caught some kind of a yeast (or bacterial?) infection after repeatedly having protected sex with a 21 year old female (we were seeing each other regularly during December) — it first started affecting my balls and then in mid-January the irritation seemed to have moved more to the penis. I've never had unprotected sex.
Avatar m tn Indeed persons with HIV do get more yeast infections than normal persons. This occurs after they have had HIV for years, not weeks or months. Three months is far, far too early for someone to be at increased risk of yeast infections because of HIV. In addition, please re-read the 4th paragraph of my original reply. There are thousands of yeast infectiosn which occur in normal people for every one that occurs in a person with HIV.
Avatar m tn So here's the deal, I have had a yeast infection for about 2 years. i have been given Gynazole (sp), miconazole, metronidazole, flagyl, fluconazole, and have also tried tioconazole, to no avail. So I stopped going to doctors for it. But now I want to get an IUD, and I am wondering if the IUD can be inserted during the presence of a yeast infection? I know certain infections are contraindications, but are yeast infections? I don't think they can spread to the cervix/uterus.
4905918 tn?1375147193 m not really sure what that medication is but, if its the pill prescribed for yeast infections I had to take out twice when I was pregnant with my first and he is 100% fine. I had horrible yeast infections throughout my pregnancy with him and nothing worked so that was only a last resort. Plus, I got slightly hateful with the poor Corpsman and basically told him to give it to me or I would cause h pain.
Avatar f tn He prescribed me Bactrum to kill any remaining bacteria from the bladder infection and fluconazole for my beginning signs of a yeast infection. Saturday night I took the anti fungal first, then I proceeded to start my course of antibiotics. I woke up in the middle of the night with extreme itching and burning. I kept waking up and scratching like crazy to get relief. It started hurting and swelling up my labia because of all the scratching.
