Common Questions and Answers about Fluconazole for yeast

diflucan

Avatar f tn Has anyone ever taken fluconazole? It's a tablet you take (only one) for yeast infection. My pharmacist said it's not for pregnant women but when I called the doc and told him what the pharmacist said he said it was ok to take. Has anyone else been prescribed this? I'm worried.
Avatar f tn I have a yeast infection (though it is hardly bothersome at all.. was found during my annual) and my dr (who is new and i do not normally see) prescribed me diflucan for 12 weeks, one pill, once a week. I have never heard of this or treated a yeast infection with diflucan like this before and am starting to think this doctor I saw was a quack/slave to drug company kind of doctor. Has anyone ever been prescribed diflucan this way?
Avatar f tn Fluconazole does work on yeast infections as it is an antifungal. Clindamycin is different and is an antibiotic. It fights bacteria, not yeast or fungus. Clindamycin can create a situation in which you get a yeast infection. It's not used to treat a yeast infection but fluconazole is.
Avatar n tn He is Rxing fluconazole for 6 weeks, one tab a day, 100mg. Is this safe? I am healthy for the most part, 40 yr old female with Hashimoto's. My main symptom is chronic stomach bloating. He is doing an ultrsound and x-ray of abdomen as well but wanted to get advice on this long term use of fluconazole. Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn I personally like the one day Monostat ovules for yeast infections but fluconazole works really great. Hope it clears it up quickly!
Avatar f tn I made a doctor appt for that following Wednesday where I was tested. My results came back positive for a yeast infection and negative for everything else...except the herpes blood test. My result was <0.90. According to the graph that was posted with the results, is positive. There was another standard graph that said 0-0.89 was normal. My doctor says I am positive for HSV 1. Can someone please explain to me how she came to that conclusion? I have never had any symptoms of HSV 1...
Avatar n tn Hello! Thank you for taking the time to read this! I am 22 years old and have been dealing with on an off yeast infections for over a year. It all started out last March I got my first yeast infection and UTI at the same time from a Marathon, mind you I was a virgin at the time so it was not from sex. Following that I continued to get them on and off, after meeting my boyfriend and now being sexually active I get yeast infection every week.
Avatar m tn She took a swab sample that came back negative for yeast/bacteria/gonorrhea/chlamydia.I felt fine for 2 weeks, then felt intense burning during intercourse . A few days after that, the itch was back. This time I took fluconazole 150 mg that my doctor prescribed at the last visit. I even took a second dose 72 hours later and I am still having itching, redness, and soreness. I am scared now, I don't know why fluconazole isn't working (it worked for me in the past). What else can I use?
Avatar n tn I took fluconazole Monday for bladder yeast infection have some relief , but not 100% better yet. What should I do?
Avatar f tn For yeast infections I was always given either monistat or fluconazole. A bacterial infection like BV would require metronidazole (flagyl).
Avatar f tn Your estrogen levels are ok, they vary enormously at your age, one blood test means nothing. When you say your sex hormone, do you mean testosterone? Your sex drive, libido, must be low because you’re having these yeast infections. If fluconazole isn’t working your doctor should have changed it for another antifungal agent. My opinion? Find another doctor asap.
Avatar f tn I just want to post an update. So, finally, after three does of 150mg Fluconazole (one pill taken every other day for three days) I'm free of yeast. I started feeling better one week after I took my last pill. No rawness, no itching, no cuts. I can finally have my life back. I hope you get some relief soon. Just to recap, when I first has symptoms and my dr took a culture it came back negative.
Avatar f tn Based off the symptoms I was having they told me that I had a yeast infection-(I had one about three months ago). They prescribed me fluconazole. I took it and felt better, but went back into my gynecologist for a follow up on Thursday(my symptoms were almost completely gone at this point.) They took a swab and said it the results said no it wasn’t a yeast infection, but she said yes she was sure I had had one. I took she told me to take the second dose of fluconazole, which I did that day.
Avatar n tn Does a one time 150 mg dose of fluconazole for vaginal thrush affect the effectiveness of hormonal birth control (the pill)?
Avatar n tn So my doc prescribe me fluconazole for a yeast infection I'm currently 30wks pregnant, when I picked it up it had 2 little packets in it with one pill each and doc says to take 1 a day but as I'm reading the instructions it says 1pill clears everything and you only need a 1time dosage. Do I take both pills or just one why would he prescribe me 2 if directions clearly state 1? Any ladies ever had to take for yeast infection while preggo what did your doc prescribe?
Avatar m tn So I was diagnosed with a yeast infection earlier in the month and was prescribed fluconazole for it. But a few days later I seen my partner again and we did it without protection and he thinks he has it as well.
689655 tn?1227249113 So I've had recurring yeast infections for a while now. I seriously get one every month. Sometimes it seems as if the only time I don't have even a slight infection, is when I'm on my period. My doctor prescribed fluconazole. She told me to take one pill each week for 6 months. The prescription information states that I should see results within 3-5 days. It has been 2 weeks now and just as I thought it was completely cleared up, it seems to be returning just slightly again.

Avatar f tn Anyone has been prescribe terconazole for yeast infection? I'm 40w + 1day I'm 1ct dilated. Doctor prescribed it to me but I'm concerned to used it. Since I'm due any day now.
Avatar f tn After returning to the doctors they were stumped as to what it could be, with no obvious rash they where skeptical it was fungal but prescribed the fluconazole for 4 weeks as a test to see if it did remove it, I presume this method of fluconazole 50mg for 4 weeks would treat yeast also? No cultures or scrapings have ever been taken, they've referred me to a dermatologist but there's a 2 month wait and no obvious skin issues.
Avatar f tn Anytime you are on a prescription medication and you see a change or something happens, it's best to report it to your doctor so they are aware of what is happening- they will also be able to tell you if it's a side effect or something totally separate. Since fluconazole is used to treat yeast infections- it's not likely the cause, but the doctor should still know that you saw the fungal infection return, despite being on the medication.
Avatar m tn Anyone ever take fluconazole 150mg oral pill for a yeast infection in their first trimester. I phoned a pharmacist and he said it was fine and all the research I've done says as long as it's not in high doses the baby should be ok, but I am having some major anxiety.
Avatar m tn II with the last outbreak being almost two years ago, on the 15 Jul 08 I came out with what seemed like a penile yeast infection, I was treated with one fluconazole 150 and Lotrisone cream for 14 days, went away well, I also take Zocor for my hereditary high cholesterol. Around the 14th August 08 I was unusually very stressed about a business deal and later had some unusual dizziness, (It was accompanied by a short bout of dry long coughs), went away quickly..
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with a yeast infection that will only go away for about a week at best and then it comes right back. I have been to the doctor several times. And have been given fluconazole. I had a swab done after it came back twice, and it is just the normal yeast treatable with fluconazole. Well, it came back a 3rd and 4th time. My pcp gave me a few more pills and told me to take them once a week for a month to see if that was enough to kick it. Well, it’s back, again.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone. I was diagnosed with vulvodynia a couple months ago. I am struggling with this diagnosis... I'm have a hard time believing it's true. Fall of last year I switched from the birth control pill to the Depo shot in hopes of eliminating side effects. Initially I had no issues with the shot, but in November I became very ill, caught the flu, and my health plummeted. I was sick until February.
Avatar f tn I talked to my Dr as well and he said that the fluconazole is fine, I will feel 100% relief when I go for my first ultrasound
