Avatar m tn oh and the doctor gave me medicine for thrush anyway (two 100 mg fluconazole pills one to take that day and one for 2 days later) and it didnt go away so it must not be thrush
Avatar f tn I was then prescribed Nystatin oral suspension (3 bottles) and using it helped, but it did not completely clear the thrush. I went to my GP and he then prescribed Fluconazole tablets for me (50mg for 22 days). This has not cleared the thrush either. Up till now, my thrush is still not cleared (since november 2010). I am afraid that it might have become very resistant to medication. Could you please advise me on what to do? Are there any other medications that I can take?
Avatar n tn While I was taking this medications I felt like it was only preventing it from getting worse and not actually addressing the root cause. Just a couple days ago I stopped taking Fluconazole and my tongue and lips again started to get swollen. I have also been taking pro-biotics and have been eating natural yougurt. It seems that my Doctor is pretty clueless about yeast infections. The Fact that i had it for about a month now has me worried that there might be a worse condition behind it.
Avatar m tn Superficial means on the skin surface and Candida infection is a fungus that causes Thrush. As you have had no instructions, and your symptoms to be clearing, I agree with you that you should just stick to the 150mg single dose that you had yesterday. If there is no improvement after 7 days then you could take a second dose. Make sure that you have good hygiene and do not use soap. If you are able to get natural yogurt, applying that to the washed and gently dried genitals will also help.

Avatar f tn You are obviously doing the right things, including mouth washing after drug use and you are correct that the Spiriva and Duo-neb do not contain any steroid. Unfortunately, some individuals develop allergy to the ipritropium in the Duo-neb or to Spiriva and the drug simply irritates the membranes of the mouth allowing the thrush to take hold. That you also develop candidiasis under your breasts suggests that you might, for some reason be predisposed to this infectious agent.
Avatar f tn There's like a faded pink/orange patch at the top of my penis, just left/below pee hole, whenever I ejaculate, whether it be intercourse or solo, it glows blood red for a couple of hours before returning to normal. Once returned to normal the penis glans then turn very dry and wrinkled. Is this normal? All happened since I got thrush but then cured the thrush, this has stayed?!!
Avatar m tn Sir, I had thrush on penis 10 weeks back. had fluconazole systemic for 15 days but relapsed again in 2 days. Since 1 month have severe myalgia. I tested for HIV I and II antibody in the 6th week and 10th week but negative. Tested p24 ag/Ab but negative in the 7th week. Do I have HIV. Still have itching and myalgia.
689655 tn?1227249113 Have you tried taking a probiotic (inner health plus/acidophillis/lactobascillis) in conjunction with the fluconazole? I used to get really bad thrush and I ended up taking a probiotic from the pharmacy and it worked really well.
Avatar f tn It is very common to get thrush after antibiotics as they kill off all the good bacteria and allow there to be an overgrowth of Candida (the yeast that causes thrush).
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with male thrush and was given fluconazole for 3 days 400mg per day. But I had tingling sensation at my penis and went to see the dermatologist again. He said it's nothing and just gave me corticosteroids. I went for blood and urine tests. All negative for chlamydia, gonnorhea, syphilis, chancroid, HIV, HSV2. I also have unprotected vaginal sex with my wife ... she does NOT have any symptoms. No thrush, no discharge, no pain etc. My questions are: 1.
Avatar m tn There is a single dose oral capsule that you can buy from the pharmacy without a prescription and this is Fluconazole 150mg - this is mainly used for genital Thrush. Fluconazole 50mg comes in a packet of 7 capsules that are taken 1 a day for 7 days. Sometimes furring of the tongue happens for other reasons other than Thrush so it important for you to see your doctor to diagnose correctly what is causing your furry tongue and prescribe you with the appropriate treatment. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn Creams to treat fungal infections on the genitals can be purchased without a prescription and Fluconazole too can be purchased from the pharmacy without a prescription. At home do not use soaps as they dry and irritate the area more. Use a non perfumed soap or one that is kind and gentle on the skin. Do not use shower gels or bubble baths as this too can aggravate the area and make it more itchy.
Avatar m tn I tried miconazole and it has done the job, even though clotrimazole and fluconazole didn't work. Thank you very much.
Avatar n tn he diagnosed me with oral thrush and prescribed fluconazole 50mg for 7 days, im currently on day 4 and cannot see any improvement. im basically just wondering are these symptoms definitely not related to hiv? is that definitely reliable? and also how long should the fluconazole take to work. any help would be greatly appreciated!
Avatar f tn That was when I developed my first thrush infection. Since that time, I have never failed to get thrush and vaginal yeast in response to these drugs. I also have had allergies to various molds and fungi since I was 20 years, which necessitated getting immunotherapy through regular injections on and off for years.
Avatar f tn t know why I am still getting these pains, and can they be from a UTI and BV? Also I have oral thrush from the antibiotics and have had it for about 1 week. I am treating with coconut oil, corsodyl mouthwash and also natural yoghurt. However it does not seem to be clearing.. The pain is better but the White/yellow covering has not dissappeared from my tongue!! Please help!!
Avatar n tn After taking the penicillin for your strep throat, you may need a one dose oral capsule called Fluconazole or an antifungal cream. Taking antibiotics can bring on Thrush that can make you feel itchy and sore. As a home remedy if you get those symptoms, is to apply natural set live yogurt. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Avatar n tn I know HIV is not only related to Oral Thrush, and I realize I need those tests done but any other information as to why the medication wouldn't be working would be great.
Avatar m tn Hi there, I have had my first ever yeast infection (thrush) since April 2012 and its not going away. Since December my nurse has put me on a 6 month course whereby I take a Fluconazole 150 pill once a week. Avatar m tn Fluconazole (Diflucan) is an antifungal medication used to treat serious fungal or yeast infections such as vaginal candidiasis, thrush and/or oral thrush, peritonitis which is an inflammation of the lining of the stomach, urinary tract infections and a few other fungal/yeast based issues. This medication works by killing the fungus or yeast or preventing it's growth.
1434838 tn?1285404132 Hello, There are some reasons for recurrent thrush infection. These include when symptoms may not be due to thrush, when thrush is caused by other strains of Candida spp. such as Candida glabrata( These may not be so easily treated with the usual anti-thrush medicines), you are taking antibiotics, or if you have undiagnosed or poorly controlled diabetes. You should get a fungal culture of vaginal discharge done and all these causes ruled out.
