Right now he is taking Flovent in an inhaler two puffs twice a day, fluticasone nasal spray (he has bad aeroallergens), metoclopramide before eating (it's an antiemetic too and helps with gastric emptying), plus, as my son has really bad GERD symptoms (acid reflux) he also takes omeprazole (either 20 or 40 mg depending how bad/good it is that day) in the morning before eating as well. At night he takes aciphex.
Switched up steriod to inhaled Flovent 44 instead of nebulizer and albuterol qid. No results. Chest x-ray and blood allergy (why not at this point) ordered and clear.
Follow up with Pulm realized no coughing at night and diagnosed with Protracted Bronchitis. Treated 3 weeks of Augmentin 500mg BID x three weeks. Nasal and throat cultures test negative except for rhinovirus.
They said start with Xopenex (4-6x a day) and give him Flovent once in the morning and once at night. Do this for about 1-2 days. But doesn't it take weeks for Flovent to kick in? Why would they have me do it like this. How could it help him for only 1-2 days?

Within days of stopping the flovent again the rash was back, even worse than the first time. I strongly suspect that the flovent (or I should say stopping the flovent) is the cause of the rash and that the use of the flovent supresses it. The pediatrician had not heard of this and subsequently referred us to a dermatologist. I know if will take several weeks to get an appointment with the dermatologist.
Albuterol created a vocal cord problem. Now been put on Flovent Diskus 100mgc and continue the Albuterol. Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common? Tonight will be my 1st use of the Flovent.
Concerned that I may have a mitral valve problem plus the emphysema. My symptoms of attack are severe shortness of breath, high heart rate, and the immediate need to urinate. Does anyone have anything similar to this?
s pills come with instructions to wait 4 hours after taking thyroxine. My dr. also told me okay to take my inhaler (Flovent) and my nosespray (Avamys) at time I take thyroxine (ie, as long as I don't take any other pills with it)....but wait an hour before taking vitamins, iron, dairy, advil, other prescription meds. How come the differences in instructions? What is correct?

my pharmacist says I shouldn't be using flovent but ventolin. When I told my Dr. I was very wheezy in the a.m. and at night.....he increased my flovent to b.i.d. who am I supposed to believe????? Also, why not...
I am taking Flovent, Spiriva and ProAir. Since I've been on the medication I've been Dxed with idiopathic neuropathy, cervical radiculopathy, carpel tunnel. I also have other entrapment symptoms, ulnar ,and I think in my legs as well.
Sometimes I get a burst of nerve pain in my arms and legs a few minutes after using the Flovent and it also causes some tendon swelling. I've shown over and over that I have less pain on lower doses of meds.
Does anyone get a racing heart from taking flovent, or has expienced dizzeness, short of breath and lots of headaches?
After checking in with my primary care, i was given a flovent inhaler, to no avail. Following that, i was put on 80mg of prednisone, down to 60, then weaned off. When that didn't work, i was given a second albuterol inhaler, and when THAT didn't help, i was given a perscription duoneb regiment which i have been on for every 4-6 hours for the past week and a half. They do almost nothing.
My coughing spasms continue to get worse, commonly to the point of a 30 to 40 second hacking fit.
I am 36 and diagnosed with asthma in 1999. Since then, I have used Flovent 4 times daily and my weight increased rapidly; I have gone up 8 sizes and I exercise daily. Two or three years ago, I started experiencing edema in my feet and I soon developed an underactive thyroid. I experienced bipolar-like mood swings and the edema increased. I went to three different endos who were not very helpful.
I take Singulair for my asthma and it works wonders, but I am told, it's effect on allergies is very minimal. I have lots of allergies too but I have noticed, that over the counter meds like Alavert (or Walgreen's version) or ones similar, are better with allergies. My father says Singilair does help with his nasal polyps, but he also agrees it doesn't do anything for allergies.
Also were any of the meds inhaled steriods (like flovent) and was he prescribed any other type of inhaler? Has he been exposed to anything different starting in January?

PS As any part of the homeopathic included a good chiropractor?
He has been on everything imaginable from Flovent, alvesco, to singular and nasal sprays, albulteral treatments,predinisone(oral) and now nebulizer treatments(duo neb and pulmacort). He has an asthma specialist which is great but I feel there is something he is missing. My son has been through multiple tests to check for allegeries and cystic fibrosis and all were negative.
I am using combivent(4x a day ) and serevent diskus 50mcg 2x for my
moderate severe copd, I have just started
Flovent 50mcg inhaler. Is this OK or should I
cutdown on the combivent ?
What medicines have you or your children been on for this? My 3 year old son was just diagnosed with EE this past August, and he's been using Flovent 1 puff twice a day since then. The last month or two I've noticed that he has been extremely aggressive, agitated, and just plain mean and disrespectful. I am 100% sure it is due to the Flovent. Is there an alternative I should be asking for? Will all of the EE medicines give his just such a reaction since they are all going to be steroids?
