Common Questions and Answers about Flexibility in workplace

flexibility

Avatar m tn I still suffer from excruciating cramp in my feet. Over the last 2 years I have built up the muscles in my feet and have increased flexibility with daily stretches and exercises but still suffer from painful cramp in my arches and toes. It seems to occur when my toes are pointed for long periods of time as I tend to tense my feet quite hard.
Avatar m tn I have flexibility issues in almost all of my joints (Knees, elbow, wrist, ankle). Coincidentally, all the joints in the right side of my body are worse. I cannot squat as the back of my feet cannot touch my butt, my hand cannot touch my shoulder, cannot do pushup as wrist will hurt a lot. I have done xrays but doctor said my xrays are fine. Went through physiotherapy but joints flexibility does not improve no matter how much i stretched.
1945565 tn?1330465775 At any workplace in order to be able to be granted a reasonable accommodation that would help you be able to perform the "essential function" (basic requirements of the job) you need to discuss this when you are hired with whoever is your manager or supervisor. However its best not to discuss it until you are hired so that it wouldn't work against you (although of course its not allowed to be part of the decision).
10452875 tn?1436484351 Some states have laws against that. But beware I was informed by my doctor that my work could fire me if I brought in a note stating I couldn't do certain activites, I live in Missouri. I wound up having to go on disability leave and 4 months in they fired me. Because Missouri is a right to work state that don't need a reason to fire.
Avatar f tn I just found out that I lost my work today because I cannot stay well in a workplace that has clorox, paint, polyurethane, bacteria, with NO return air. I am in a very specialized field--I teach newly arrived refugees from Burma, Africa, etc. tospeak English. It may be too late, but is there any kind of mask I could get and still teach--I guess, however, that it would have to cover nose, mouth and eyes--maybe I coul wear it half the time. I need/love the work.
Avatar f tn You also do not want to lose your job and you must worry about your flat and your child. So whenevr you see this allow yourself to let go of the times you hesitated in doing anything. You were smart in asking for help. I also want you then to let go of the times you almost gave in or entertaoned doing it and had to tell convince yourself that you may not be an unreliable provider for your child. How does the boss feel about you and/or treat you? How long have you worked for him?
Avatar f tn Can a person have elevated ammonia in bloodstream from an environmental exposure? And what would the symptoms be?
446829 tn?1212425523 I have gone through a few diagnoses since a workplace injury one is tension headaches and the other is post conccusive symptoms. It finally has been confirmed through an MRI over 15 months later to be a bulging disc in neck area. I would like to know how a bulging disc could be related to the above diagnoses or if over time could a bulging disc occur from those diagnoses.
Avatar n tn My 80 year old mother had TKR surgery last week. She says when she stands or sits for any length of time, her foot hurts and she must lay down to relieve the pain. The doctor said this is typical because of blood rushing to the foot and recommended putting the support sock on. Has anyone else experienced this? Everyone is impressed with her flexibility and she's doing her exercises regularly but this pain has really gotten her concerned and regrets getting the surgery.

Avatar m tn I work in an office, we are relate to healthcare but our office is administrative only. We have office supplies in a cabinet, that all workers have access to. I was looking in a small box for something and poked my thumb, then my index finger on a thumbtack in that small box. Both bled. Is there any HIV risk there? For example if another person did the same thing just before me and bled? Any risk or need for testing or prophylactics?
Avatar n tn Over the years we have helped with his control. He is now working at a stressful job in finance in NYC and lives with his girlfriend. He is currently taking 2 shots a day of Humilin Reg. and NPH. Over the last six months he has bottomed out at least 8 times usually at lunch time and the paramedics have had to be called to his workplace. Yesterday when they arrived his Blood Sugar was 19. It seems he drops so quickly that he is unable to treat himself by eating a snack.
Avatar m tn There was no need for any chemo or radiation since the tumor was well encapsulated. He engaged in all follow up tests and recent routine tests were all normal except his abdominal CT Scan showed some swelling in his bladder lining. All urine tests were normal - no signs of blood or infection...no sense of urgency to urinate or anything else unusual.
Avatar m tn ve heard from other co-workers that cold sores spread like wildfire in such a workplace...so does this mean that when I touch a surface e.g. use a keyboard that she has been using, that I too will get herpes if I touched their mouth/touched their genitals whilst wiping in the toilet? I don't carry the herpes virus as far as I know!
Avatar m tn Hi Brad, I agree with nickppatel re the leg activity in water polo. I played water polo for 6 years in my late teens to early twenties (then joined the military) and I have a full understanding on the amount of leg work required just to play water polo, let alone being the goalie.
Avatar f tn For years, I had terrible troubles in a workplace with a set of symptoms that are very hard to describe. Eventually it became clear that flourescent light was the major issue. I work under natural light now, thank goodness. All I would say is that you should keep in mind that a workplace is an environment with many possible elements that may cause you problems, but not others. To this day, I find it difficult to believe so many people can spend 8 hours a day under flourescent lighting.
Avatar n tn HIV is instantly inactivated in air so it can't infect, otherwise all of America would be infected from toilets, workplace cuts and sporting events. You haven't read of anyone getting it this way because it doesn't happen and it doesn't happen because it can''t happen. It would be front page news if some baby got it in a public changing room or toilet or playground equipment. Zero risk for you friend.
Avatar m tn she told me that it could be from the toilet seats at her workplace but as far as i researched in this type of infection it can only passed on through sexual contact. i just really want to get a confirmation about this if is this only being passed on through sexual contact or there might be some other factors that would result to a person being infected by it so that i would know how will i talk to her if incase there might be an unfaithfulness happening here in our marriage.
1530342 tn?1405016490 I'm confused...I thought the US had anti discriminatory laws in the workplace already? Do you not? Can you fire someone for that? Here you would be sued to the ends of the earth, and I thought it was pretty much the same thing there? SOmeone enlighten me please! (thank you!!!
Avatar f tn I have a problem with chronic pain in my left shin and have had bouts with plantar fastitis. Suddenly by shoe inserts to support my high arches feel awful. What are the right exercises and what else can I do?
700000 tn?1231287536 The only problem I have is that it is kind of a bummer in that without the flexibility in my wrist, some of my basketball and martial arts activities that I participate in currently are limited. I still live a normal life as an engineer and go to the gym 5 - 6 times per week and never feel any pain except on REALLY cold days. I recently landscaped my backyard with no problems. As far as flexibility, I was barely able to do a flat handed push up 3 years ago. I am 30 years old currently.
