A healthy diet should consist of adequate amounts of calories with carbohydrates, proteins, fat and plenty of fruits and vegetables to supply vitamins and minerals. Also when aiming at losing weight the protein intake may be slightly increased and the carbohydrate intake slightly lowered. The calorie requirement should also be adjusted for ones physical activities as well.

I started back to the fitness center about 2 weeks post treatment & hit the treadmill, stair stepper, and also did some light weight training. Not sure if he meant from lack of use or clinical weakness. Panic ensured when he made this statement. Additionally, he states he thinks I'm hypermobile (not sure if that's related at all). So I went to the doctor. The new nurse practitioner did not have any answers or ideas what it could be.
Avatar n tn My 80 year old mother had TKR surgery last week. She says when she stands or sits for any length of time, her foot hurts and she must lay down to relieve the pain. The doctor said this is typical because of blood rushing to the foot and recommended putting the support sock on. Has anyone else experienced this? Everyone is impressed with her flexibility and she's doing her exercises regularly but this pain has really gotten her concerned and regrets getting the surgery.
333672 tn?1273792789 My flexibility is okay for my age (although it seems worse to me than it used to be), but I have weakness in my hip flexors and in my ankle muscles. The latter apparently explains the weird thing I do where one foot strikes the other when I'm walking. My feet want to turn inward. In fact, it was watching me walk that tipped the physical therapist off to this problem. Then she asked me to swivel my feet outwards at the ankles and hold them there while she pushed them in.

About 6 month ago I started getting really bad upper back spasms, I had an MRI, CT Scan, and Ultra Sound that all came back clear. I got another epidural about a month ago and the back spasms went away (they are starting to come back as the epidural is wearing off).

Avatar f tn s Health Total Workout in Ten! It is broken into ten minute segments- cardio, upper body, lower body and flexibility/balance. You can pick out the routine that you want to work on or do them all. It also gives an alternative set of exercises to do, actually demonstrated by one of the women on the dvd, that are not quite as strenuous. It was around $15 on amazon. I have also seen dvds specific to MS patients' needs. You might want to look at those, too.

They are not trained, usually, in rehab and health in any great detail -- they sometimes will have this training on their own, but then they'll probably leave the gym and go out on their own. Dr. Yass, as mentioned by Gymdandee, basically offers physical therapy, and believe me, I've had physical therapy up the yin yang.
