Common Questions and Answers about Flexibility in matter

flexibility

Avatar m tn I have flexibility issues in almost all of my joints (Knees, elbow, wrist, ankle). Coincidentally, all the joints in the right side of my body are worse. I cannot squat as the back of my feet cannot touch my butt, my hand cannot touch my shoulder, cannot do pushup as wrist will hurt a lot. I have done xrays but doctor said my xrays are fine. Went through physiotherapy but joints flexibility does not improve no matter how much i stretched.
Avatar m tn I still suffer from excruciating cramp in my feet. Over the last 2 years I have built up the muscles in my feet and have increased flexibility with daily stretches and exercises but still suffer from painful cramp in my arches and toes. It seems to occur when my toes are pointed for long periods of time as I tend to tense my feet quite hard.
Avatar n tn My 80 year old mother had TKR surgery last week. She says when she stands or sits for any length of time, her foot hurts and she must lay down to relieve the pain. The doctor said this is typical because of blood rushing to the foot and recommended putting the support sock on. Has anyone else experienced this? Everyone is impressed with her flexibility and she's doing her exercises regularly but this pain has really gotten her concerned and regrets getting the surgery.
12832842 tn?1448728801 If you are a person extremely fit. Muscular. In great shape.. Vs. a person who's in ok shape.. Not that muscular.. But healthy otherwise.. Don't they both end up the same? Both on dmd therepy, both eating the same. I don't understand what working out is doing with regards to MS , other than the overall health of anyone who works out. Being its a disease of the cns.. Why is excersise in ms stressed if you end up the same? Or don't you?
Avatar m tn There was no need for any chemo or radiation since the tumor was well encapsulated. He engaged in all follow up tests and recent routine tests were all normal except his abdominal CT Scan showed some swelling in his bladder lining. All urine tests were normal - no signs of blood or infection...no sense of urgency to urinate or anything else unusual.
Avatar m tn Hi Brad, I agree with nickppatel re the leg activity in water polo. I played water polo for 6 years in my late teens to early twenties (then joined the military) and I have a full understanding on the amount of leg work required just to play water polo, let alone being the goalie.
Avatar m tn It should not matter if your doctor is a female or a male doctor, but you need to feel comfortable during the exam. Usually a man is more relaxed being undressed with and male doctor. During your physcial exam, your doctor will need to check all of your body from head to toe. Heart, lungs, ears, eyes, nose, throat, reflexes, flexibility, just everything including some blood work.
Avatar f tn I have a problem with chronic pain in my left shin and have had bouts with plantar fastitis. Suddenly by shoe inserts to support my high arches feel awful. What are the right exercises and what else can I do?
700000 tn?1231287536 The only problem I have is that it is kind of a bummer in that without the flexibility in my wrist, some of my basketball and martial arts activities that I participate in currently are limited. I still live a normal life as an engineer and go to the gym 5 - 6 times per week and never feel any pain except on REALLY cold days. I recently landscaped my backyard with no problems. As far as flexibility, I was barely able to do a flat handed push up 3 years ago. I am 30 years old currently.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 25 now, and 5 years ago she broke her femur and had a titanium rod put in her leg. She's doing fine, and now she's taking tae kwando classes. She is not sure, however, if she should push herself to do kicks, etc., or to be careful not to put too much strain on her hip. She's not sure if she can increase her flexibility by pushing herself, or if she could do herself harm. How can she tell what could be helpful as opposed to what might to damage?
Avatar f tn I had an mri done in june and they said I had several nonspecific white matter foci in the subcortical white matter, although these are not typical of the demyelinating plaques due to ms, they are somewhat prominent due to my age of 40, I really would like to hear an answer back, I am getting frustrated.
Avatar m tn I had surgery over 10 months ago for a lateral meniscus tear in my knee. This is the second surgery I have had on this same knee. The previous surgery I had a medial meniscus tear about 5 years ago. I am very active and cycle about 5 hours a week and about 5 hours a week of more weight bearing exercise. I have not been able to regain full flexibility to the knee, I am lacking 10 degrees of motion. I ice my knee most every day after exercising.
Avatar n tn I think it's carpel tunnel I had the same feeling in my hand it was more my middle index & thumb that were effected

Avatar m tn I am a distance runner that had a left side inguinal surgery last April. After a two month recovery, I started running again. I've never really run correctly in the past year. Working with a chiropractor, I got a hip flexor malady adjusted; the PT said I needed to work on flexibility. My left leg kind of 'hangs/float' and doesn't extend out normally. I feel it even when I'm walking. The odd part is that I can't really self-correct it with mental striving.
Avatar n tn 85 You are not too old to increase your strength, flexibility endurance or efficiency. In fact, since you are so out of shape-it will be more likely that you will have a steep curve of improvement with some concerted effort. Avatar f tn I try to walk straight, take shorter strides, rest for a day or two in between work outs, but no matter what, once I up my speed, whether it is on a treadmill or on the street, my shins hurt so much I actually have to stop. Even when I get a pedicure, when they start the massage part up my legs and press on my shins, it really hurts. I always have to ask them to touch lightly. It really hinders my ability to increase my fitness level by walking or running.
Avatar n tn Take a look at this article: http://www.jpeds.com/article/S0022-3476(99)70173-3/abstract Unfortunately, without journal access through a university/medical library, the full text costs $$, but google scholar caught this glimpse from it: "Several recent investigations have also identified a high prevalence of orthostatic intolerance among those with fibromyalgia. ... " so it does link CFS, EDS, OI, and fibromyalgia (and is by Rowe).
Avatar m tn At age 13 (13 years ago) I had both my hips pinned due to a slipped capital femoral epiphysis on both sides. I have issues in mobility and flexibility and was wondering if there was any surgeries or treatments available to enhance my mobility. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I was wondering what did the physical therapist do to help restore mobility in your shoulder? Thanks a lot!
