5833988 tn?1375121224 I want to go on a cruise, I've never been on one before. I'd like to know if I can get sea sick. Being a girl, I may be more likely to get it. BUT, I don't have motion sickness. I can go on roller coasters, read in the car, and go on a ride through hilly areas and bumpy roads. I've been on small boats before and I've been fine. I don't know if genetics affect anything, but my dad was in the Navy, and he was perfectly fine.
Avatar m tn I am very active and cycle about 5 hours a week and about 5 hours a week of more weight bearing exercise. I have not been able to regain full flexibility to the knee, I am lacking 10 degrees of motion. I ice my knee most every day after exercising. I completed a series of 3 shots of Euflexxa about 6 weeks ago and have felt no difference from that. I started physical therapy twice a week for the last three weeks which lasts about 1.
Avatar f tn Stretching isn't the best way to improve flexibility—lifting weights through a full range of motion is, according to a recent study at the University of North Dakota. Pausing for 2 to 3 seconds at the "down" position of the lift (where you feel the stretch) without relaxing your muscles is even more effective.

214105 tn?1265935159 Many studies demonstrate a higher healing rate with non-surgical treatment. The complication rate, particularly nerve entrapment is also lower. However, as you have noted, the risk of deformity is greater, although 9 degrees is not significant.
Avatar f tn I had the minipulation done already - it did not seem to work any better. My knee has had the same stiffness in it since the first day I had it replaced !!! My surgeon says keep trying to bend & stretch it !!!
Avatar f tn Finally, using good shoes (ideally compensating for individual foot differences) is important. The shin can be trained for greater static and dynamic flexibility through adaptation, which will diminish the contracting reflex, and allow the muscles to handle the rapid stretch. The key to this is to stretch the shins regularly. However, static stretching might not be enough. To adapt a muscle to rapid, eccentric contraction, it has to acquire greater dynamic flexibility as well.
Avatar n tn Worse when the sun shines through the trees over the road, or if there are guard rails up, and also any repetitive movement like lines in the road. It is worse the faster I go, so I try to avoid the highways and have been taking the back roads. It really is affecting my life. I don't know what is causing this. I also notice that bright lights like camera flashes, sun reflections off of windows etc. leave the mark in my vision for like a half hour later. Have you heard of this?
Avatar f tn It includes 5 vertebrae, known as L1 to L5, which have a great deal of motion and flexibility. This section of the spine bears most of the body’s weight and allows for the most motion which stresses the structures, this is the area associated with most back problems. Problems in this area often cause pain that radiates down the legs to the feet. Bilateral (means both sides) neural (means nerves) foraminal (is an opening) that the nerves exit and stenosis again means narrowing.
Avatar n tn I currently have restricted range of motion in my left and right upper arms. This has been a slowly worsening condition that has been progressing for perhaps 6-10 months. Please note that when I first noticed a diminished range of motion it was so minor with no pain that I didn’t even know at the time that something was wrong and figured it was just a result of losing flexibility as I aged.
Avatar f tn gated acquisition shows no thickening or motion abnormality.Without a rest study it is not possible to differentiate attenuation within anterior wall and a prominant membranous sepum from only mild reversible ischaemia."Does anyone know what that is in english? They want me to do an angio but I cannot tolerate radiation and am hyper sensitive to dyes/tracers..so have requested an echo excercise test. Is the above statement referring to an artery problem? Is it anything to worry about?
Avatar f tn What does basal anteroseptal is hypokinetic mean? And the phrase "wall motion abnormality noted maybe due to longer membranous proximal septum? I do not understand these terms and have not been able to have the cardiologist who performed an echo explain.
Avatar f tn One study performed at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill showed that subjects who performed dynamic warm-ups had higher performance in the vertical jump test than those who just did standard stretching. Dynamic flexibility, which is moving your muscles and joints within your full range of motion repetitively, should be performed before weightlifting because it stimulates higher neural activity and increases tissue elasticity.
Avatar f tn Well the only idea I can come up with, which is a nuisance, and may be totally useless, is to stop every half-hour and let him out for a 10 minute walk in the fresh air. Of course, that does depend on the route you will take, as major busy highways won't allow for walking dogs! Also it completely messes up any schedule you may have in mind, and lengthens your journey a heck of a lot! But maybe you could experiment with that idea on your trip down to the boat next weekend.
Avatar f tn It is mainly on highways. Somedays i do great and i can drive on busy highways fine. OTher days even smaller highways around 55 mph freak me out. IT worse on straight roads w/ litle traffic. NOw, im even scared to ride w/ others on hwy. i have been in therapy for a few months and we are going to start emdr. I am taking buspar 30 mg a day. 15502615 tn?1440995053 Your doctor may recommend that you meet with a physical therapist to provide you with specific exercises designed for your needs. Range-of-motion and stretching exercises can help maintain flexibility in your joints and preserve good posture. Proper sleep and walking positions and abdominal and back exercises can help maintain your upright posture. Most people with ankylosing spondylitis don't need surgery.
Avatar f tn Hamstring stretch can help maintain flexibility in your hamstrings as well as reduce any pain that may occur as the result of high hamstring tendinopathy. Position your affected leg on a couch or bench fully extended. Your heel should be flat on the bench with your toes facing the ceiling. Sit straight up. Allow your unaffected leg to hang over the edge of the bench with your foot touching the ground. Slowly lean forward at your waist while maintaining a straight back. Reach for your toes.

6794082 tn?1384952416 The improved motion, flexibility, and overall well-being they notice after the adjustments motivates them to continue receiving care on an elective basis. Ultimately, the answer to your question depends on why you're receiving the care you're receiving. If you are not noticing improvements of any kind (symptomatic or otherwise), and feel that visiting your chiropractor is no longer beneficial, then feel free to stop going at anytime.
Avatar f tn I don't know if you can help me, but for several moths I have been experiencing dizziness, and off-balance feelings. I feel like I'm off all the time. I have felt normal in months. It has effected my driving. I can't dri on highways anymore, because as soon as I get up to speed I start to feel panicked , because I can no longer focus on the road. I almost got in a car accident because I was swerving, going 35 in a 65, because I couldn't focus.
Avatar n tn My right arm was normal with no decreased flexibility. There was no pain, and I just figured the problem with the left arm was reduced flexibility due to aging. Then about 4-5 months ago, I noticed that the range of motion had reduced even more. Maybe a few more inches. Still no real pain. This basically only affected the ability to reach behind my back and wash it in the shower. Up until that time, it never entered my mind that something could be wrong with my shoulder/upper arm.
Avatar f tn My attacks come when driving above 40 mph on our little two lane divided highways around here. I can get to town just fine and am completely fine around town. I pray for traffic so the traffic is slow on the highways, and sometimes have to find backroads which are difficult. It started at night, and now during the day sometimes too. You know the symptoms, light headed, lump in my throat, white knuckle, feels like I am going to pass out or have a stroke.
194224 tn?1371160202 m very concerned this will result in substantial strength and flexibility limitations for both arms (preventing all but the lightest exercise). Thus I would like to know from your experience what I might expect after they are able to perform treatment? If you've had elbow surgery for anything similar, did it really limit your ability to exercise/ play sports? I can currently use both arms, but as stated I can lift very little in anything other than a 90* bend.
514649 tn?1231454520 Have you heard of this type of thing with motion feeling like the earth under me and my body are going in different directions! Its ever so slight but ever so distracting and has caused me to avoid highways etc cause I'm afraid it will pop up. Some days I feel I am going nuts and am a dependent mess.
