Avatar n tn I thought if I mixed it with a fruit smoothy it would be tolerable and I also found a flavored flaxseed oil but that was pretty expensive. I want to try to use the "good" fat for protease inhibitor. This anti-depressant already has me eating like crazy. I start this Friday Yikes!!
Avatar f tn thanks I did take 1 tablesppon of flaxseed oil before leaving to work and didnt plan to eat or take my morning riba till I got to work. While driving to work within 15 min's I felt the effects of the riba from last nite kick in again. Mind you I only had the flax in my system. So fat does play a big part.
Avatar m tn You really only need to drop your LDL by 20 points, which is not very much. Do a low fat diet, not empty carbs like breads, sugars and pastas. Add fruits and veggies as well. The easiest way is to cut out fast foods so if you indulge in burgers and fries, stop and that alone will bring your number down. Is there a reason why you don't want to take a statin?
Avatar f tn I asked my doctor (RE) about taking 81 mg of baby aspirin to encourage blood flow to the uterus but she said the effects are not proven and therefore she does not use it in her practice. I'd still like to try it, however..particularly because my menses was especially "clotty" this month (sorry tmi!). But I also take flaxseed oil and I want to make sure that taking both of these won't be an issue. I'm on my 4th round of clomid 100 mgs, days 3-7 with progesterone supps.
Avatar n tn The Budwig diet is mainly composed of flaxseed oil and cottage cheese with restrictions on eating animal meats, butter and sugars. Some holistic health enthusiasts believe that cancer patients are deficient in essential lipids that cottage cheese mixed with flaxseed can replace. The scientific journal “Deutsche Medizinische Wochenschrift” published a study in 2012 that determined that cancer diets, such as the Budwig, diet do not cure cancer and can have adverse health effects.
1670226 tn?1334252274 Evening primrose oil is good and you shouldn't stop taking it, but it's not an Omega-3. Omega-3's fight inflammation in your body. Plus, my optometrist said my eyes had "an oil problem," as in not enough. I alternate taking (1) 1200mg capsule of fish oil daily and (1) 1000mg capsule of flaxseed oil daily. That's just a personal preference. Also, when my eyes were really bad, I took one of each for 4 or 5 days.

Avatar n tn I have very dry skin, which has been worse since I've been having thyroid problems - I had been taking flaxseed oil, but the doctor suggested that I try fish oil instead (3000 mg/ day), as it's more easily absorbed. It made a real difference - for the better :-) You should probably ask your doctor, but if they have no objections, it could be quite helpful.
Avatar f tn I would listen to your cardiologist or internal medicine doctor if they are very familiar with this situation. Omega 3 fish oil and flaxseed oil can both sometimes increase bleeding in patients taking blood thinners like coumadin (warfarin), apirin, and plavix. In diabetics on glucose lowering drugs there is some evidence that suggest that flaxseed oil may increase fasting blood sugar levels.
460830 tn?1347219306 I don't take aspirin and ibuprofen at the same time - I alternate between aspirin, ibuprofen and acetamenophen (Sp?), so I won't be taking too much of either. But I do take fish oil and flaxseed oil caps every day. I had not taken aspirin nor ibuprofen since posting this, but a few days ago I took a single dose of aspirin, for the first time since then. But I noticed yesterday I had the SAME bleeding, in the SAME PLACE! I wonder what's going on?

Avatar n tn Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema — regardless of type — involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. Doing so tends to increase effectiveness and reduce side effects from medications. The type of medication prescribed will depend on many factors, including the type of eczema, past treatment, and the patient’s preference.
550622 tn?1247656720 The redness usually goes away, but the dry eye might stay around awhile. I take flaxseed oil everyday which helps as well as staying well hydrated- but eye drops are a way of life. It does get better, my eyes function almost normally but wearing contacts is very hard and my eyes are usually more dry the next day and flying doesn't help matters, so I use more drops during flights.
Avatar f tn Also, taking omega-3 fatty acids, found in fish oil and flaxseed, have anti-inflammatory properties and may help improve skin (this is a daily supplement I take). Try to find chamomile creams, which topical chamomile is about as potent as a product containing 0.25 percent hydrocortisone. Chamomile-based creams may help relieve dermatitis. Avatar f tn for past 20 months, been unable to consume any food or beverage besides water without erupting (within 3-5mins) in burning-swelling-rashing-drying skin. seen 50+ doctors, all still remain perplexed... claim never heard of such a thing before. Countless test, including food allergy testing... all of which doctors say are clean. Tried over 60 lotions, creams and bathing solutions only to find they worsen my skin. For the longest time I wasn't even able to sit down without feeling on fire.
