Avatar f tn I asked my doctor (RE) about taking 81 mg of baby aspirin to encourage blood flow to the uterus but she said the effects are not proven and therefore she does not use it in her practice. I'd still like to try it, however..particularly because my menses was especially "clotty" this month (sorry tmi!). But I also take flaxseed oil and I want to make sure that taking both of these won't be an issue. I'm on my 4th round of clomid 100 mgs, days 3-7 with progesterone supps.
Avatar f tn 20mls is equivilent to about 1.5 tablespoons of flaxseed oil per day, or 20 capsules of fish oil that is 1000 milligrams in strenghth. The difference with Swank and OMS is in the latest research. Either diet will work.
Avatar m tn You really only need to drop your LDL by 20 points, which is not very much. Do a low fat diet, not empty carbs like breads, sugars and pastas. Add fruits and veggies as well. The easiest way is to cut out fast foods so if you indulge in burgers and fries, stop and that alone will bring your number down. Is there a reason why you don't want to take a statin?

I take flaxseed oil for omega 3, 6 as I'm scared of fish oil and mercury... but I just read that flaxseed oil has plant oestrogen and has oestrogen-like action, so there is a possible link to estrogen dominance. Guess only one way to find out..will have to stop taking it and retest.

I thought if I mixed it with a fruit smoothy it would be tolerable and I also found a flavored flaxseed oil but that was pretty expensive. I want to try to use the "good" fat for protease inhibitor. This anti-depressant already has me eating like crazy. I start this Friday Yikes!!
140029 tn?1393298142 Cook some brown rice, whichever kind you like. You can add flaxseed oil and a touch of sea salt and/or olive oil. Go easy on the oil, so you don't upset your stomach. You do need some healthy fat in the diet, and this is a good way to get a little bit with your first meal of the day. I use a sea salt called Real Salt. You can buy it in bulk at a health food or natural food store. Or, some places sell the same salt in various packages.
Avatar f tn I added 2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed to my diet for the past year. I was very discouraged when I received the results of my lipid panel results. Last year: total chol.=238, trig.=59, HDL=101, LDL=125. This year: total chol.=240, trig.=67, HDL=98, LDL=128. My bad numbers went up and my good number (HDL) went down. Why? (I am a 60 year old female. I exercise regularly (jog and ballet), I am 5'2" and weigh 92 pounds.

I actually *just* bought a book on mindful meditation and plan on doing that, along with yoga. I'm already doing exercise 5 days a week--tennis and low-impact cardio (my knees are in good shape.
Avatar f tn With cooking be sure to eat Unsaturated fats which include Olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, safflower, soybean, sunflower, corn oil, or flaxseed oil. When using a butter spread avoid butter and all other hydrogenated/Saturated fats. The saturated fats consume more fats and increase our cholesterol. Avatar f tn He, my surgeon, told me to take Flaxseed oil so I bought the oil instead of the pills. I recommend the pill form. Flaxseed oil taste horrific and it made me feel sick but this morning I had a good BM. Try the pills if you can't take the actual oil. I bought it in Trader Joes (if you have them there) for 7.99 for the oil and 4.99 for the pill form. Oh and I eat Activia yogurt (in the past it helped me be regular) but the oil produced over night.
Avatar f tn My diet mostly consists of cheerios orange juice a banana and a shot of flaxseed oil in the morning and 2 or 3 small portions of brown pasta and chicken the rest of the day I also run 30 - 50 minutes whenever possible I have only been doing this for about a month but I still see growth Is it the chocolate and soda? Is the flaxseed oil helping or hurting? Is there anything more I should be doing?
Avatar m tn The best sources of fats are olive oil, canola oil, flaxseed oil, corn oil, omega 3 fatty acids (often taken as supplements), soybean oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil, corn oil, and salmon, trout, and all cold water fish are great sources. Nuts and seed contain excellent sourses of the good fats just be sure with portion size.

If you know anything about heart disease, the Ornish diet is better because it most effectively cleanses the system of excess fat.The South Beach Diet is usually for those with risk factors but no known heart disease. This diet allows more latitude and can still get a person to the recommended targets.
Avatar n tn I have very dry skin, which has been worse since I've been having thyroid problems - I had been taking flaxseed oil, but the doctor suggested that I try fish oil instead (3000 mg/ day), as it's more easily absorbed. It made a real difference - for the better :-) You should probably ask your doctor, but if they have no objections, it could be quite helpful.

It has natural estrogen like effects. You might try natural sources of omega fatty acids for mood, like freshwater fish, such as salmon and tuna, walnuts and macadamia nuts, pumpkin seeds, and flaxseed. You might try flaxseed or if you aren't troubled by the fishy aftertaste, enteric coated fish oil capsules.
