Ever since I can remember, on my thumbnail and big-toe nail, there has been a strange deterioration. It looks like a series of grooves in the center of the nail (see attached pictures). My fingernails aren't weak or brittle and they're not really falling off or anything. I don't think it's anything serious, but I've always been curious what it is. If anybody could help at all, that would be great.
About two months ago my fingernail developed a black mark near the nailbed. It has since continued up toward the top of the nail while changing brownish now puple with the uppermost tip is turning white. I have an appointment in October.It doesn't hurt and does not appear to look fungal according to my doctor. Is October to long to wait? I read that melanoma can develop under the nail.
I have a question about thrush. From the pictures I have looked at I am not certain that I am experiencing thrush symptoms but wanted your advice. I am getting white spots on my inner cheeks. Sometimes they are easy to wipe off. Other times it takes a bit of effort with my fingernail. When the white stuff comes out it has the consistency of mucous or a booger. s came back 3 weeks later. i also noticed lately that my fingernail beds are really pale but at the end behing the white part it is a dark pink. does anybody else notice this? i know that nails can give clues to health problems and i read that it can be related to heart problems. the cause of the pvc's was never known because i don't have insurance and couldn't afford to continue testing for it. all i had was bloodwork and ekg.

I kept washing (gentle soap and water, sometimes I added a touch of salt to the rinse water) every time after I used the washroom and anytime I felt discomfort.
