For about a month now, my knuckle has been hurting pretty bad to bend it or even touch it. Today I noticed some swelling. Its my middle finger on my right hand and its swollen on the side closest to my pointer finger, its even a little red. As far as I can remember, I have never injuryed it. I use to be a package handler at FedEx Ground. I loaded the tractor trailer trucks but the last three months Iwas there, which ended last month, I was on light duty.
Three months ago i cut my pinky & ring finger on a saw , surgery was completed & been going to physio for two months to get mobility in the fingers where they had to re-attache the tendons , that stretching is going well but the swelling on back of hand--palm of hand & fingers are giving me a problem , i've been working through that issue(soaking hand from hot &cold water)(wearing compression gloves)(wrapping the hand)(wearing a splint)(arm elevated) (massage) & now anoth
I still have noticable swelling in that joint, especially on the rt side, and considerable pain. The rest of my hand hurts lately, probably from compensating for the lack of use of the middle finger. Any ideas? Based upon the info and illustrations I have seen on the WWW it looks like its in the area of a ligament. Thanks for any response.
When i was 11 a girl broke my right index finger at school and no one believed me when I said it was broken. So obviously it wasn't splinted or even buddy tapped. In the eight grade my mom took me to a doctor that told her that my finger did break and that the bone healed eight degrees off. After six months of trying to buddy tape it and splint it, the bone only moved two degrees. The doctor recommended surgery to pin and straighten out the bone and my mom decided on getting me the surgery.
I was diagnosised with MS several years ago - I''ve developed a strange symptom the last 3 days where my just the tops of my index, middle and ring fingers are in excuriating pain...no swelling, no redness - nothing....just pain...I feel I'm on the verge of a relapse - where my legs and face are getting painful, etc., but not full fledge yet. 5 wks ago, just sore on the inner knuckle, could not find any insect bites, no injury, no hang nail. Swelling went down after several days, then it came back with a vengence with severe swelling and lots of pain but this time only in the fingertip. The pressure was so intense that I tried to drain it, I know I shouldn't have. Nothing would come out. The pain was extreme and I did hot salt water soaks several times a day which was worse than any pain I have ever experienced!
I fell down and perhaps the whole body weight rested on my finger, as a result of which the finger got swelling and little bent after a day followed by severe pain. The finger does not get straightened. I was advised by pharmacist to take Brufen tablets and apply some gel. As long as the tablet was taken for 3-4 days, the pain was not there.But no sooner the tablet was stopped, the pain again started.
I got X-Ray done of my finger and consulted an Orthopaedic Surgeon.
Take an OTC anti-inflammatory pain killer, and something to subside the swelling. Dip hand in alternate warm and cool water, starting and ending in warm water. If this does not help you overcome pain and swelling over next 2-3 days, then please go to the ER and get this examined. An-X-ray should ideally be done as soon as possible. Take care!
My pip joint on my pointer finger is in slights pain when I apply pressure or bend it to a certain extent. There is no swelling, redness, or bruising. It does feels stiffer than usual but isn’t in pain if I hold it still. I’m wondering if this is something I need to get checked out or will it heal on it’s own.
I woke up with this this morning. I'm out of black cherry juice but I drank grapefruit juice with apple cider vinegar in it and took 3 capsules of turmeric. The swelling has gone down. I can bend my finger now with almost no pain. For me, it's probably arthritis. I broke this finger playing volleyball 26 years ago. It's just now causing me a problem, but I'll go back on my daily ACV regimen to prevent it.
We have recently been to the ER for extreme swelling in her right arm. They did an ultrasound and found no clots. She has always has swelling and extreme pain in the right wrist as well as the arm and shoulder. Do you think the Chiari is causing the swelling or could it be the bulding discs causing her pain and swelling? She also suffers from such severe leg and hip pain as well as severe headaches.
Index finger on right hand swollen and painful to bend.. Hard to tell if pain is first or second knuckle.. Swelling is mostly at base of finger.. No warmth or redness noted.. Have "skiers" thumb for about a month now.. Just woke up and boom thumb was swollen at base.. Finger was little stuff and next morning swollen and painful.. As long as it's straight there is no pain.. Getting old is for the birds!!
i smashed my finger with a bowling ball it automaticaly whent numb and then a severe pain ocurred for about an hour or more. but now it is extremely swollen and purple at the palm part of my finger closest to the palm but not at the tup it is numb and cold. im worried what do i do?
An X-ray is required to decide the course of treatment. If there is no fracture then anti-inflammatory pain killers help bring down pain and swelling. Usually simple knuckle fractures are treated by using a splint and taping the injured finger with the adjoining finger. Surgery is required if there is alignment problem, angulation problem or displacement of the fracture ends. Please consult an orthopedic specialist. Take care!
