Common Questions and Answers about Filgrastim and hyperglycemia

neupogen

Avatar n tn Any patient treated with atypical antipsychotics should be monitored for symptoms of hyperglycemia including polydipsia, polyuria, polyphagia, and weakness. Patients who develop symptoms of hyperglycemia during treatment with atypical antipsychotics should undergo fasting blood glucose testing.
493068 tn?1224765315 my stats seem to go up and down so I only have to take it now every 2 wks. It is unknown whether filgrastim (Neupogen) increases or decreasses an individual's risk of developing cancer. Based on limited long-term data from healthy people ( if a person is healthy why would they need neupogen in the first place ) who have received filgrastim, no long-term risks have been found so far. good luck to you....hope this helped!
Avatar m tn Do you mean filgrastim? And are you saying Dengue fever? It would be a surprising though perhaps not impossible use of filgrastim. Dengue is usually treated by pain managers and sometimes hospitalization and a blood transfusion. Anyway, if you have a legitimate prescription from a doctor, you should be able to fill it in the United States.
Avatar f tn For this reason, patients are prescribed antibiotics and even receive injections to increase white blood counts (such as filgrastim or lenograstim). If this 0.4 value really pertains to your white counts, then I believe this is really low and what you are experiencing is a condition called 'febrile neutropenia'. I would suggest you ask your doctor about filgrastim or lenograstim injections aside from the Levaquin. Regards.
Avatar n tn All of this has started within this year plus bad cholesterol is good good cholesterol is bad and Triglycerides are slightly elevated. Is there a relationship or link to Hyperthyroid and Hyperglycemia? Is all of this related? Should I take a watch and see? Is there others reasons my Thyhroid tests are coming back slightly out of range? What does Heterogeneous Thyroid mean? Is that normal?
Avatar n tn You should get a second opinion as you may have been misdiagnosed. Ask to see an Endocrinologist - a diabetes specialist - for a second opinion. To my knowledge, shaking leans more towards hypoglycemia [type 1] than hyperglycemia [type 2] [see the following].
Avatar m tn Have you heard of a link between use of Cydex disinfectant and risk of developing COPD? Thank you.
Avatar n tn ve perused the internet regarding the connection between hyperglycemia and primary HIV infection and have found absolutely nothing. Still though, I am terribly concerned. I'll be receiving my HIV test results this monday. Am I being paranoid?
Avatar n tn Hey everyone, Its sally. I went to dr. yesterday and hade the PCR test done. My white blood count is now really low. Dr said to come back in 2 weeks and if blood work shows the count is not improving we will have to re-evaluate my dosage. Also they will call me on the results of the PCR test. Friday will be my 5th shot. Suddenly I'm so tired and scared. Another dr has me on Xanex and this is seeming to help.
Avatar f tn You have posted on the type 2 forum, hyperglycemia, not type 1 aka juvenile diabetes. Prepare yourself to ask your doctor questions by using Google and search on 'hyperglycemia testing' and/or 'type 1 diabetes testing'. Also, call the doctor's office and ask if you should fast 8-10 hours prior. To add to allymarbles, an endocrinologist is a doctor who specializes in diabetes care and treatment. Most PCP's know only basic care - here take this pill, call me later.
1770925 tn?1365618522 There is much info on diabetics with hyperglycemia but very little on one that have hyperglycemia. I have a low sugar problem, that go to hypoglycemic symptoms, and doctors that only treat high sugar oroblems. Where can I find info on treatment of my type diabetic?
Avatar n tn It sounds like you are experiencing dawn phenomenon (or a rise in blood sugar usually between 2 and 4 a.m.). This is a natural rise as your body gets ready for the day. Have you ever talked to your doctor or diabetes educator about an insulin pump? On a pump you can program a higher amount of basal insulin in the morning to prevent this. Please note that this is my opinion only. Have a wonderful day.
Avatar m tn Taken 21 injections of Pegasys 180 mcg till date. i am having very wide fluctuations in WBC and ANC. The range is between 6500 and 1400 for WBC and 4700 and 260 for ANC. Doctors unable to give any explanation for such wide variations on a dose to dose basis. Till date, I have also taken 5 doses of Filgrastim - the WBC Stimulator. Can you pleae advice possible reasons for such wide fluctuations.
Avatar m tn His phase 1 insulin response is shot so his phase 2 response is over correcting and producing too much insulin and causing lower BG that IS reactive hypoglycemia.
Avatar n tn I've had my blood sugar checked several times over the past 12 months in relation to my frequent lightheadedness / imbalance. My fasting bloodsugar seems to be around 120-130 usually. I had a glucose tolerance test and it came back "normal". A new doctor just ran an a1c test on me and it came back as 6. I am over weight (not losing weight as I often read about when looking up diabetes). Does above normal blood sugar always mean diabetes?
Avatar m tn Neulasta® (pegfilgrastim) or NEUPOGEN® (Filgrastim) may reduce your chance of getting an infection, but it does not prevent all infections. An infection can happen anytime your neutrophil counts are low. Look for signs of infection, such as fever, chills, rash, sore throat, diarrhea, or redness, swelling, or pain around a cut or sore. If you have any of these signs, contact your health care professional immediately. http://www.neulasta.com/starting-chemo-with-neulasta/about-neulasta-neupogen.
Avatar f tn I'm a newly diagnosed diabetic (age 67) and am taking 7 days worth of Prednisone for a touch of pneumonia. My blood sugar has gone to 200. Is there something I can do to keep it down (my normal is usually around 120) and am I hurting myself during these 7 days? How high do I let it go before I call for help? Thanks for your help.
Avatar n tn I dont take good care of myself and im just wondering if it can make you... slow thinking, absent minded, and hard making decision. There's also other factor such as lack of exercise, lack of studies and I also diagnosed to have thyroid too. Hyper thyroid. I would be very glad if you answer my question. Thank you.
1986676 tn?1329862471 Perhaps contacting your primary care doctor is not a bad idea? Or is your PCP & internist the same person? In my case I am not sure if Neupogen is the proximate cause of the pain I feel as of late. I feel worse since I started Neupogen however I cannot help but wonder if I somehow inadvertently contributed to the matter. I do a lot of heavy work out doors and I have to admit it has felt incredibly laborious and overwhelming as of late; yet I try to persevere with the same intensity.
Avatar f tn my baby came on Wedneaday after noon 5lbs 4 ounces and he's been in icu having issues with his glucose so unfortunately Ima have to leave him when I go home have anyone else heard of babies being born with hyperglycemia issues he was 4 weeks early but I thought he was fine I'm keeping the faith he will grow out of it.
Avatar n tn We found this out when our daughter who is diabetic, was ill and taking cough medicine and antibiotics and we had the same problem that you are having. We called the manufacturer of the different medications. (Most of the companies do know how many carbohydrates are in a dosage) and figured out that her medications were adding an extra 25 carbohydrates to her system every time she took her medication. This amount of extra carbs will defiantly raise your blood sugar.
