Avatar n tn I have been breakin out in hives for over a year now. It started on the nape of my neck as tiny white bumps, it has now turned into red hives that itch and now has spread to my trunk and upper legs and arms. A biopsy was done of one of the hives and it came back unidentified. i have been taking fexofenadine and use triamcinolonne acetonide cream but nothing seems to help. I cant sleep or sit still. I scratch until i bleed and then the hives turn into little scabs all over my body.
Avatar f tn Sedating antihistamines such as Chlorphenamine or Hydroxyzine are used at night to get urticaria control. Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms. You may take Vitamin C along with the prescribed treatment. Vitamin C is a general anti-allergy supplement. It helps stabilize mast cells so they are less likely to release histamine. If the symptoms persist, then you can consult an immunologist.

Avatar f tn Hello, Another possibility is hives. Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. Many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known. Others may be triggered by viral infections or medications.
2127744 tn?1335367748 I've been diagnosed with Aquagenic Urticaria - i'm from Bournemouth, UK. Aparently i'm one of only 16 in the UK who have it. I have lived with getting rashes from water since i was 13 (I'm now 19) and it's had a massive knock on my confidence and it makes me really self-conscious. I've been to numerous hospital trips to get treated and tested... I had the water test done with 1 arm with tap water and 1 arm with distilled water...
Avatar n tn Hello, The mainstay of treatment of hives is antihistamine which may be necessary for prolonged periods (in excess of 6 weeks). Double conventional doses of these non-sedating antihistamines such as Cetirizine, Loratadine, Acrivastine and Fexofenadine may be needed to get symptom relief. Sedating antihistamines such as Chlorphenamine or Hydroxyzine are used at night to get urticaria control.

Avatar m tn I had lots of tests done (blood, liver, kidneys, IgE, cholesterol) everything was good. I started taking fexofenadine 180mg per day with no results for about a week. Also took benadryl for a week with no results. I then changed to betametasone 0.6mg + desloratadine, 2 per day for three days then 1 per day for 3 days, which made the itching go away about the third day but came back soon after the fifth day while taking it. I went to see my allergist.
Avatar m tn She diagnosed me with seborrheic dermatitis on my face and scalp with chronic urticaria on my arms. I have been taking Fexofenadine for the chronic urticaria which is meant to burn itself out after 12 to 18 months. In March of last year I had my appendix removed after which the doctor described it as a nasty case of appendicitis with the appendix having a sloughy surface.

Avatar f tn the itching occurs on DIFFERENT places each night.. sometimes then those places are not affected again for a week or more... but others in the meantime, all over the body. My daughters started at her hands, but now also all over the body, sometimes only legs, sometimes only belly and so on...
Avatar m tn Thanks for your fast reply kindd. The urticaria reaction is switched on for almost 8hrs a day, i mean i constantly feel the tingling, itching and burning sensation and thats the time span when i mostly experience the twitching.
Avatar m tn Hello, It looks like urticaria skin or hives. Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. You can find easily an over the counter over-the counter antihistamines (e.g., loratadine, desloratadine, cetirizine, fexofenadine) which can be used to help with symptoms.
Avatar m tn You only need to take one Fexofenadine for the whole day, which is useful. Clarityn is another non-sedating antihistamine that you only need to take once a day.
