I always thought the genitals didn't start to develop in utero until week 14? Is that right?

it is written on the ultrasound pictures. I supposed based on the fetal size, a statistic to check if they are growing normally.

I heard as early as 14 wks but the probability goes up if you wait longer. Do you not have a fetal photo or sneak peak ultrasound around you? They'll tell you.

I can tell you, From experience that a baby's heart is fully developed by week 18, which is why doctors do fetal echos between 18-24 weeks, it's the soonest they can visualize the heart without the bones getting in the way or "shadowing" it, and also the latest for them to detect holes and other issues. There are many cases when a baby has a hole or two early on and as the baby grows and the heart continues to grow the holes close or get smaller on their own.

I am now 9 days overdue and had a fetal assessment done today. They said the baby is fine. Placenta looks good and enough water in there still. I have to do another one in 2 days to see if it will be still be ok for the weekend. We will talk about an induction on Monday which is 14 days overdue. I did not look at the ultrasound because I still want to be surprised on the sex. At the end, she gave me a 3D Picture though of the face (maybe it was 4D). Anyhow, the picture scared me.

Not even an option where I'm from. There isn't any research on the effects of ultrasounds on fetal development so most doctors advice against elective scans. I don't see how any harm could come from it. It's just sound waves.

If you break embryonic and fetal development into thirds then when you are in your 28th week the baby begins its final third of development. (Gestation is 266 days or 38 weeks of development). So either way you look at it you are in your 3rd trimester!

Hi Ladies! Does anyone remember what their baby's fetal heart rates were around 14 weeks? my baby was 155-165 and the last few days its been between 145-150.

She said that the gestational and yolk sacs were visible but I will need to make an appointment in a week to come back to see the fetal pole and heartbeat, that it is just too soon to tell. She never mentioned what the two white dots inside the gestational sac were. Was it my baby, more than one, the beginnings of the fetal pole? Anyone know, or is it too early to know? Do the dots indicate fetal matter? Would she have been able to see anything inside this early?

They check the brain development, heart, blood flow, oxygen flow, the stomach, fingers, toes, arms, legs, make sure the navel cord is connected to you properly. Basically a very detailed physical. They will give you pictures and tell you the sex if your little one doesn't hide it....

The baby only measured 1cm which from my research isnt as big as most are this far long however Im not panicking about that as Ive been told all fetal development is different. Ive also taken some comfort in how nauseated ive been which to me is a good sign, but not so fun! So as of now I am relaxed and excited!!

My oldest kept the hiccups in fact that was the first moment I felt with him at 14 weeks. He is a big healthy 12 yr old now lol.

When I try to pull her up she wants to stand on her legs all the times. Is this normal for a 14 week old? My son coos all the time. I figure my daughter will crawl and walk before my son and my son will talk before my daughter.

Has anyone gone for a Fetal Echo for their baby? I went for my 20 week scan 2 weeks ago and they told me everything looks good but I need to go for a Fetal Echo to get a better look at the heart.. I've been thinking about it since and don't know if they are having me go because I'm high risk and want to take caution or if there is something wrong with the babies heart..
